- IS THIS THE PHILIPPINES BEST RIVER ADVENTURE?
It might be, as I return to the wooden boats (this time a "bote") on the mighty Oras River in Eastern Samar.
I've always wanted to explore the interior of Samar Island, especially by river - and I finally got the chance to do so!
We chartered a boat headed to Barangay Agsam, the nearest inland barangay to Oras proper and situated on a small creek just off the main river. Then we rode habal-habals headed further inland, to Sitio Maycorot in a neighbouring barangay.
It might be remote, but they are so, so peaceful!

Oras Taft Arteche: towns i would like to see again. Wide clean rivers, beaches, forests, People on this side of Samar don't litter 🚮. Fresh foods at the Carinderias. Warm friendly community. Catbalogan and Tacloban in Leyte have chaotic city streets and dirty.

Your vlogs KD are befitting GMA's documentaries of like Sandra Aguinaldo, Kara David,Howie Severino , Maki Pulido to name a few.
My mom is from Samar but further inland and up mountains she says to go to her brgy they have to cross a couple of mountains and rivers and had to sleep on someones house it usually takes a couple of days. Oras was one of the places often mentioned. She left in her teens to Manila and never came back. I've never been there too Im glad I get to share this with her so she could see how it is now.

Great adventure. What a beautiful place.
What beautiful barangays. When I consider they only have the rivers to bring things in and out, its amazing they can construct all those buildings and homes, especially the concrete ones. Judging by the interest of the children, I'm guessing they don't see many foreigners come through there. I didn't see any gas stations either. They're doing well though, so it's obvious they can overcome any challenge.
To get so many building materials in is a mammoth task indeed! Gas is in coke bottles... just make sure not to confuse it with tuba!

Plastic is banned (and enforced!) in Oras... I think that's the big difference!
