      Andrea, a book I insist you will love reading is "Malcolm Young ⚡The Man Who Made AC⚡DC by Jeff Apter. I have never had a better idea about my favorites until I read it. I am an Aussie who started guitar 10yrs old in 1979 when AC⚡DC were cooking Malcolm's skull crushing riffs blew my 10yr old mind and still do 43yrs on. Malcolm Young RIP was my first Hero, ever, and always will be 🤘the entire Australian continent loves & reveres AC⚡DC and we are extremely proud of them ramming Aussie rock n roll down the worlds throat take no prisoners attitude. They are in a category of their own & have no peers. Thanks 👍 Andrea mate this old Aussie guitarcheologist loves your passion authenticity & U love Akkadakka as much as any Aussie 🎸🤘⚡

      Ironically, his talent, skills, humility, modesty and humbleness is what makes him one of the best players in AC/DC along with Brian Johnson, Bon Scott, and Malcolm Young (R.I.P. the last two). But not Phil Rudd though, while he is one hell of a drummer, he lacks the last three elements where he is considered hated and got his own ass in jail and not in the band. Just saying.

      @@sarthaksrivastava911 No but their rhythm section - drums, bass and Malc were the back bone of the sound. The gaps in AC/DC songs made them - AC/DC tunes are not easy to do due to the gaps and solid rhythms. Fancy drumming doesn't mean good drumming. Damn solid drumming in a band like AC/DC is as hard as fancy drumming.

      While I agree with you and I truly like and respect Malcolm Young as he was the one of the Young Brothers who made AC/DC, I’ve listened to their recent music and their still rocking on even without him. I mean as much as I like Bon Scott for being “the lightning bolt in AC/DC”, even though he died, he would’ve wanted the band to continue without him and they didn’t break up after that, so the best solution was to bring Brian Johnson (who btw was in the band Geordie and Bon truly liked him and indirectly had Brian take position as the vocalist) and the band became even more popular. Please don’t take any offense to this. I’m just pointing something out, that’s all.

    Malcolm would always play open chords - G, D, A, etc... he rarely plays power chords, his power lays in his great tone on the pure open AC/DC style chords. Of course he plays B in power chord position, but even then he uses his pinky to bar it and get the major third on 2nd string. And on some songs like girls got rhythm he also uses the same bar chord, but most of the time it's his style open chords (G with 5th string muted, D with 1st string muted etc)

    • @lizzyobrien2376

      Profiledek Another secret weapon of Malcolm's is his picking hand. Watch live videos of him, he never uses up strokes, they are all down strokes. My friend noticed this after comparing Malcolm's sound and rythym to that 'of an out of control, nuclear powered train'.
      But what do I know, I'm just a teenager!

    • @Ad-Ac
      @Ad-Ac Před 7 lety +4

      Sean O'Brien Yes, his right hand is very powerful, but also very precise... I mean if you really play his parts, the down strokes become natural... you can't really play them any other way, and if you do then you don't understand the feel, the groove. Malcolm has inspired me for a long time, he is my definition of a perfect rhythm player. I got much more into lead guitar recently, but i will never forget Malcolm's rhythm school and how much he has taught me.

      Jagged bacon Of course you are right my friend. Another example would be the way he finishes most of the songs... while Angus gives a fire-rising mind blowing solo, he goes "up and down up and down" with all his power, at full speed, just on one chord... just in case someone forgot what key is the song in... here you have that E chord, can you hear it now?! :)

    Absolutely epic, man! Or, since you're apparently Italian: Bravo! Bravissimo!
    I'd give an arm and leg - well better actually two legs - to play like you do. I could hardly make out any "mistakes" (well, let's call them "differences") and the whole thing is EXTREMELY close to Mal's and Angus' original style and feel and that goes for riffs and soloes alike! The only thing that immediately sprang to my ear was that you played one or two surplus notes (=too many) in the "Beatin' Around The Bush" riff. Have a listen again in case you did not notice.
    I've been a huge fan for >40 years now and have probably accumulated a multitude of years spent listening to the Young brothers. Also play guitar myself (a little) so you can take this as a compliment. And dont listen to those Ibanez playin' over-analytics that may mock you for letting a note ring a couple of milliseconds too log or too short here and there.
    This whole thing sounds more AC/DC than if Angus and Stevie would play it on this day!
    Just one thing. Should you do this again: Get a Gretsch for Mal's parts. ;-)

    Heard my first AC/DC song when I was about 3 or 4. I had a little purple mp3 with 3 songs on it (idk why lol), and one of them was “Rock ‘N’ Roll Damnation”, and that was my favorite song on the thing. I played it on repeat constantly whenever I could, and as I grew up, I learned of the band, and thus I fell in love. A decade and a half later, and they are still my favorite band of all time. Always. From birth until Hell’s Bells ring.

    AC⚡️DC was my first rock band I got into at the age of 9. My dad and I would take drives when I was younger and he had the Back In Black CD (yes CD, I’m old), and we would listen to the entire CD on every drive. My dad and I are polar opposites when it comes to hobbies but music like this are the one thing we both can agree on.
