  • still got a few more finishing touches to do but for the most part its operational and working.
    Vise grips to be replaced with bolts.. stepped holes in the legs to allow for different heights, more section soft skewer for longer pig..
    there is a bit of movement in the legs due to the drive shaft being off center.. this has some adjustment in it as well.
    the lynch pin holding the skewer to the drive shaft will need to be replaced by a bolt as it catches atm.
    See it in action here: carazy.net/spit-roast-pig-bras...

    baby steps!
    I have some more tube to sleeve over the top of the 'skewer'.. it'll have holes so we can bolt it to the skewer.. just havent got that far yet..
    I have some angle + ubolts for front and back feet to secure too.. thinking about using rebar through the guts in a few places. again with holes through the main pole you see there.

  • @lronpaw
    @lronpaw  Před 11 lety

    Its a windscreen wiper motor from a car, got the cheapest I could find from the wreckers. And we were able to successfully use this on about a 20kg pig.

    can you provide me some information about this slow speed motor that you used it. I have different project that requires very slow speed motor and can't find any where. I am trying to use 12 volt battery to operate the motor. Just let me know the model number and name of this electric motor.
    Thanks

    Hi, how did you mount the sprocket to the window wiper motor? Also where did you get it? cheers

    • @lronpaw
      @lronpaw  Před 10 lety

      There was a taperd nut that fit on the shaft of the wiper motor. The small sprocket is the smallest from the rear cluster of a bicycle. I had some flat metal that I welded the sprocket to and then drilled a hole onto the wiper motor.
      Wiper motor came from a auto recycler/ pull-a-part / wreckers and I scavanged the bicycle gearset from a bike stores bin..

    ironpaw.. can the wiper motor withstand long hours without overheating?

    • @lronpaw
      @lronpaw  Před 7 lety

      Hi Paul, we used the wiper motor close to 12hrs continuously with no heat build up or other issues, the motor wasnt on a high speed so it should last ok.

    • @lronpaw
      @lronpaw  Před 10 lety

      I had some 42Nb mild still tube handy so used this. I used a flap disk to remove remove the oxidisation on the outside then seasoned and oiled it before putting the pig on it.
