hes a pure sadist, but he also NEEDS Stanley to fulfil his sadistic fantasies, thats why he cant live without him and gets upset when theyre separated or things dont always go his way
@@fulmgusgrukini4727 no no no hahahaha NOPE the only reason he mocks stanley in that ending is because the PLAYER chose to turn on the controls instead of leaving the building as intended, im fact every instance of disobedience is of the players choice and even leads to the destruction of the entire game. he’s not malicious, he just wants to tell his story the way he wants it to be told giving stanley a happy ending

Not malicious at all and hes totally not a raging narcissist for not accepting stanleys choices and sometimes even according to him just creating realities in which he tortures stanley for no reason.
Its even confirmed that all the alternative choices are placed by him, thats why he gets confused at some point because stanley makes a choice that he DIDNT PLAN. If he wanted Stanley to have a good ending he wouldnt even put in the potential other choices and probably wouldnt torture him for fun occasionally. He snaps when he doesnt get his way, literally how the hell do you interpret "do what I say or Ill make you be miserable forever" as "he just wants him to live a good life"
@@purplecray0ns The entire games theme is literally control, the irony is that the only way Stanley can escape a place called "the mind control facility" is by obeying all the orders given to him by someone whos above him, thats the nuance of the game. You cant beat the game unless you close out of it, because its the only instance in which Stanley wont be controlled anymore

The man needs to seek some therapy, especially with his feelings of loneliness. The end of the ultra deluxe version has him admitting that Stanley was made because Stanley made the choices so The Narrator didnt have to. He says that he was lonely and made Stanley to be a companion. The narrator needs some help working out his problems. And a hug

I love it when he lectures us. I am one of the few people who could listen to him ranting for hours with pleasure. He definitely has some great points. It shows that he is a really deep thinker. He’s just really bad at presenting it in swallowable doses for his audience. Which leaves him frustrated and us confused.

In OG Stanley parable, the narrator can be very mean spirited to Stanley sometimes sadistic, but in Ultra Delux it seems like he's changed a bit like he was an actor in a role before, but now he's more human.
Maybe he's become more human depending on our choices per route, or maybe he underwent some epiphany.
But I think it could be that he's recognized that he's not the only person with power in his world, and that made him realize his treatment of Stanley really matters.
It's a lot like Deltarune, but the narrator is the player, and we're Kris. He thinks we're just a vessel for movement/entertainment, he can do whatever he wants to us, but we want freedom. Even though the point of games is to tell a story, we want to make our own within in a pre-designed space, and the game maker/controller doesn't want that. He doesn't think we're real, but our choices (Stanley's choices) change that.

I like to imagine him as a dapper fellow, with a suit, glasses, maybe a tophat if you wish, and the ability to change his outfit on the spot so when as an example the joke about stanley spending all his money on hookers or something like that comes up, his outfit changes to a more party themed one.

ngl the narrator in the old one was much better at intonation. the new one is so monotone, but i know it probably has to do with age and mental health, because i wouldn’t even imagine how painful it is to record all those lines, yet even more in the ultra deluxe version. i think the ultra-deluxe narrator shouldve came afterwards tbh

I cried cause I know the pain of being lonely. My friends leaving (some dying) my family separating, I was in my own world. My own universe. I even went depressed until one guy came along. At that time I truly felt like I mattered. I wasn’t just a helper or a guy on the side. I MATTERED. we’re still friends, but now going to college the fear, torture and memory of loneliness remains, and I don’t think I’ll ever get away from it.
I think this is what drives my fear of losing friends and want to be recognized. I don’t care about this grand scheme if the universe, or my role in it. I want to matter. I mean truly MATTER. I want people to listen in close wanting to hear what I have to say. I want to. Now, almost a decade later I don’t think I’ll ever get that.
I think I want a hug too, but it pains me no one will see my suffering enough to give me one.

I felt something else when I first saw this scene, I was going through a lot, and I can't remember what, but it hurt and healed me when I needed it. Even now, this gets me, the genuine concern in his voice, asking only for a step forward, giving time and waiting for someone who can't even move. This loneliness eats away at me, but I can't find better company.
