Just a tip, there is a slight glitch... that allows you to use the talent dodge, without the talent... press dodge and L1 (item wheel) at same time ( press dodge slightly earlier and you will use the white light dodge
In case anyone doesn’t know, SELL ALL OF YOUR GEAR except for what is currently equipped. You can press square on PS or X on Xbox to change the look of that gear to any other gear piece you have picked up even if you’ve sold it already. You keep the skins for all gear you pick up they are just somewhat hidden on the menu
Yes, but definitely equipt the strongest gear first before you sell.
I can't figure out how to do it on PC, though. Instructions in the game say to "click on the eyeball icon" in the gear menu, but there is no eyeball icon. Sigh. I guess I'll figure it out eventually.
@@Violetbunnyfish Hover over the item on the gear page and press F. There's a line in the tooltip that says appearance. Brings you to the alter appearance page.

For the puzzle door, the creatures on the arch are actually numbered when you count from zero. No need to keep looking at the that page.

Numbering the animals left to right on the archway 0-9 is literally what I did and somehow convinced myself it couldn't be that simple so had a peak online and was surprised I'd managed to solve it on my own.

If you cast revelio and hear the ‘chime’, you are near a field guide page. This can help you know if you’re going in the right direction!
Unless you're in Hogwarts, in which case you'll hear the chime even if the page is in another room. But that's mostly at the start when you're surrounded by pages. So it's a good thing to keep in mind as you knock out a lot of the collecting.
3:35 it absolutely does tell you about stupefy.
During my tutorial battle with the knight statues after successfully using protego 3 times a popup showed up saying holding Triangle while using protego successfully would cause a Stupefy counter spell and doing extra damage to stunned enemies

What it doesn’t tell you is that it goes to your focus target still vs the target you parried.
I have literally played this for 2 days straight, and I only just past the first trial, this game is massive and bloody amazing 🤩

TIP: If getting a beast for the 1st time, get both genders so you wont have to go back and get the remaining one that will be required in the future quests. Also get the level 3 alohomora before explorating and getting chests. Sell ur picked up gears and used the money made to buy all the Tomes and Scrolls spells!
OK... have to issue a correction. You state that the game does not tell you about holding Triangle to counter and Stupefy... it actually DOES tell you, it's part of the fight against the knights in the intro. Oh, and thanks for the image of the dice puzzle 'cheat sheet', was able to print it out for future reference. :)
That's the problem with all these early review tip/trick videos. All the creators are in such a rush to push out content that they literally skip everything just to get to the end of the game before the other guy does.
It's gonna take about a month or two before somewhat decent content that's informative AND correct starts coming out. Happens every time.
And on the move description
the cheat sheet is nice, but every door has the creatures and it just goes 0-9 around the door so the sheet isnt needed once you realize that

Top tip, do the pottermore quiz before starting the game and link it up when you do start.

Also with the wall symbol puzzles in the school, if you look at the wall around the door, the symbols are in order of the numbers starting from 0 so that helps as well, just looking at the wall and counting up from 0 from the first symbol on the left 😁

One thing I wish I had known sooner that I don't remember the game telling me at any point is that you can change the time from night to day from the map by pressing R3.
It only told me once when I had to open the map for, if memory serves, the Map Chamber.
Solving the puzzle door numbering system was easier as we software engineers always count from 0 and not 1, hence the puzzle made sense right away. I see why the developers added this tweak, hence as a fellow game dev, kudos 🙂
Having forgotten that programmers always count from 0, I tried using 1-10 on my first attempt and failed. It only took one brute force solution to figure out the rest.
Lol me doing a play through right now and all these facts are explained in game through hints in the dialog 🔑

3:45 LOVE MY EDGE CONTROLER, block/parry and dodge both on the back buttons loving it. PSA: LOOK AT YOUR MINI MAP EVERY NOW AND THEN IN COMBAT, IT'S REALLY HANDY TO SEE IF ENEMIES ARE BEHIND YOU OR ON YOUR SIDES!

I was trying a new way to rescue magical beasts.. more important how to get Unicorns or thestrals.. they need 5 turns, so is simple as using glacio/ aresto momentum before try to get them 😊 I hope this help everyone!! 😊😊

The door puzzles did confuse me until I found the cheat sheet. I was thinking the symbols must be 1 to 10 but nothing matched properly. Never thought of 0 to 9, Doh!
Six hours in and I just found the Great Hall lol, love it.
For the stupify counter you can just turn off the camera targeting setting and turn down camera acceleration…it allows the combat to flow like Arkham knights you can counter and cast at whomever because the attack will go out from the direction you are pointing the character rather than what the camera is centered on. Trust me it’s a whollllle lot better

ON those legendary chests, would it be a good tactic to note their locations, but then come back and open them once you are much higher level, so they are high level legendary items?
Well, the game constantly throws at you a lot of legendary pieces so there's no point in waiting to open legendary chests.

Don’t know if this will get seen but cast revelio then cast ackio for the flying pages you don’t have to aim as long as you have line of sight on the page you cast one then the other it’ll auto pull the page u can do this on ground pages but not as useful
Beat the game last night...it was lit.
Can you miss out on content, quests or side quests by how you act Orr treat others? Example bribing the npc you have done a side quest for or not returning there items ?
If legendary chests drop gear to your current level, would it be best to leave them unopened until later in the game to get a high level legendary?
I did this, but reaching max level takes a really long time and then you probably don't need it anymore sadly. Also you can easily buy legendary gear too. SO I think you can open it

This has been on my mind as well. I thought upgrading a piece of gear would scale it to your level. So if you got a legendary early at low level, upgrading it would bring back up to your current level range but that is not the case.
So it would seem legendaries you get before reaching max level are purely for transmog and once out leveled highest amount of gold when sold.
So my gameplan now is every medium chest size and up to save scum it until a legendary shows for the extra gold. I'm still waiting to see if someone discovers an op gold glitch, like the gold bar one in RDR2.
So i just learned that if you start then exit the Daedalian key cabinets then start it again the key will nearly immediately cross the keyhole so you can just force it after starting its a little harder on hard but it makes it much easier. Oh and also if you jump while in stealth its faster if you wanna save a talent and not get human demiguise.
Each of the animals around the door are in clocwise from bottom left, numbered 0-9 but if you get stuck, look at the number of protrusions each has, ie unicorn =1 Spider =8 etc

The Owl Post: personally I'd check it either after every 2 minor quests (helping students that kind of stuff) and when you first "wake up" in your bed.
But then I also check the IRL mail the same way(at least every 2 days or every morning) so....
What's your fave spell combo jon?
The puzzle doors are easy. Just click one of them for the first symbol then go over to the other and click it then see if door opens. If it doesn't then go back to the second one and change the symbol and try the door after changing to each one. If it doesn't open go back to the first symbol and just click once to the next symbol and then go back to the second and try all of the symbols out with the door. Rinse and repeat. Just don't change both randomly. I know it is confusing but you can open any of the doors in under a minute.
This sounds ridiculously time consuming. Each symbol gives away what number it is, unicorn has one horn, spider has eight legs, goat has two horns, etc
@@EmceeCommon55 Understandable. It hasn't been time consuming for me. Last one took maybe 15 seconds to open with the way I do it. I have done about 7 doors so far.

How do you change your appearence? I have 5 types of gloves in my collection but just the basic ones in my inventory.

No, it's craftable. It makes treasure chests appear on the minimap for one in-game day, saving you from casting Revelio for them.
I didn't learn till today that you can shoot fire pits to deal damage to anyone around them.
You don’t need a cheat sheet, as others have said, the symbols surrounding the door are in order. 0 is the lower left one, 9 is the lower right one.
Example 1 + spider + ? = 10. Spider is 8 plus 1 = 9... 10 - 9 = 1 so the right creature is unicorn.

No
No you have to learn them by leveling up. Although the first curse you can learn is Crucio and you get the side quest for it from Sebastián at level 16.

Your mounts are in the gear menu on the right side. I haven’t unlocked the mounts yet so I can’t use them.

Don’t sell gear with preloaded traits. U may not have those traits and they do no transfer. Some are handy

Those Daedalian Keys are pretty annoying, I hope you can use Arresto Momentum on them when you get it? Because you can't do it on reaction, and I don't see a real pattern to their flying. So if the spell works, great! If not, tips please? Lol. I only got lucky on the first one.
I stare at the keyhole and slap as soon as it passes the outer rim of the lock. It actually gives you until it crosses the entire face of the lock mechanism. Kinda, jedi reflexes. But, I've gotten every one that I've come across.
It does have some sort of pattern though. Usually moves three to four times before it crosses the middle, just gotta be on your toes a bit.
They HAVE TO MAKE more DLC for this game. Like 3 more dungeons.
Question: Is it possible to hide your armor/outfit thing? I'd rather be casting spell in my scrub student robes all game than having to do that in a suit of armor, or worse, mismatched clothing.
Hover over your equiped gear item and press square. You will then be able to choose the appearance of any other that you have unlocked and can even choose to not see the item at all.

@@nemer473 Evanesco. It's the first spell you learn during the Room of Requirement introduction Main quest. You literally can't miss it as it's mandatory to progress. Just equip the spell and use it.

stupify doesn't require the lock on. IT ALWAYS TARGETS THE ENEMY CLOSES TO YOUR RETICLE.

There's a barber in Hogsmeade where you can change your hair cut and color, your freckles/moles/scars, eyebrows and eye color. You can't change the shape of your face or skin color.
The first 10 minutes of the game not only tells you to hold input for stupefy but it’s a literal objective that you can’t progress pass until you do it… just sayin

I would try to level up as much as possible without using chests...get items at higher levels.
It doesn’t matter. There is so much gear in this game. Plus you can buy legendary gear when you’re at max level. You also can sell all the useless gear for gold.
