  • Hey guys,
Hope you’re well & long time no see.
So back in January I made a video where I talked about the continued shortage of graphics cards, I talked about what you can do if you really need a new card right now, which was mainly buy a pre-built machine.
And I also predicted that the supply of new graphics cards should start improving in the first quarter of this year, that is, it should be get better by April.
But oh how wrong I was…

I bough a prebuilt with 3080 with i7 and 32 gb ram and 2tb ssd off Amazon for 2,300 dollars. Cyber power pc. Some people say they suck but I’m very happy with the purchase. They actually built it very well and used top of the line parts. I took the whole computer apart to check for issues and it was perfectly built.

Hey! Sorry for the recent absence, as a hobbyist it's a struggle balancing work, life & YT. I hope to get back to a more regular schedule now in the summer, I have some reviews/explained videos lined up so stay tuned :)

There's only 1 reason. At rpp, it's a really safe and profitable investment. better and safer than stocks, houses, gold, etc
Scalping is irrelevant. Scalping only happens because there's people willing to pay the premium for them.
Someone might say "theres not that many miners", which sure... There's more gamers than miners, but gamers buy 1 card, miners will buy any rpp card they can get their hands on. Be it 1,10 100 or 1000. Even after crypto mini crash last month, gpus still pay themselves in 6-9 months on mining alone. Can't think of any other legal investment with a 100%+ ROI in a year.

It’s not just video cards have you try to purchase a PS five or the new Xbox hell yesterday I went to Best Buy to buy a new PS4 controller and I’ve learned that they are sold out my entire state

Disclosure: I'm not a crypto miner nor do I fancy myself into any "scalping" activities, just an observation here:
Lately my perception is that everyone thinks is entitled to own an RTX and just because they don't get it, life is unfair.
Well guess what - nothing on this world, no matter where you are, is not sold at the price the buyers wishes for, but rather the seller wants to.
If you really really want to buy a high-end graphics card like 3080 Ti or 3090, you will do it regardless of that "absurd" price, trust me.
The validation will continue with Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism and starting with July, I believe there will be some new updates which will cut off some of the miners gains, forcing the ETH numbers to drop in order to increase the its value, much like Bitcoin. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Perhaps at the end of the year or the next, they will also activate "That Proof of Stake" (PoS) concept you are mentioning in this clip, which will run side by side with PoW, but with some long term consequences/concerns on the Blockchain, no doubt.
Also gamers are last in the priority list, everyone knows this already :)

Hi Radu! Well put, and I agree for the most part.
That said, the vast majority of cards being used for crypto mining are cards that are marketed at gamers.
So I think one can't be blamed for thinking the GPU vendors would do their best to take care of their loyal customers.
Then again, it's not like we have any alternatives for now, and ultimately revenues, profits & keeping shareholders happy are their main concern as a business.

I neither blame to miners nor to scalpers for gpu absurd pricing, i blame to nvidia and amd for insane pricing as only 2 companies dominating entire world, as most of their work is already patented, we need more and more companies like Intel, samsung to enter into market to break their monopoly...

Any idea when the shortage will be over?

Nobody really knows, but there's a good chance shortages will continue this year :(

Signs right now are starting to point that there is a slow decline in GPU prices as of right now, Don't get your hopes up since it'll probably go back up soon because of some unknown variable coming into play. But in the meantime just save your cash and wait a little longer.

Well maybe this whole nonsense would've already ended if these assholes werent so insisnting on adding the whole entertaintment systems into Cars, microwaves, fridges etc. No seriously we're wasting so many semiconductors on silly nonsense it's ridicules and the less semiconductors we have the less graphics cards, or any hardware that actually NEEDS this technology will get created.
