Funnily enough that's what the Ukrainians are claiming for Ocheretyne that there was a rotation error/cowardice leaving a section undefended so Russian probing attacks met no resistance and they pushed through to Ocheretyne.

Damn, it's almost as if the Ukie fortifications do absolutely nothing to stop the Russian advance if they aren't part of a mutually supportive defensive system and can easily be bypassed, flanked and cut off....
They are only WW1 style dirt trenches behind hastily layered mine fields, not full concrete defensives.
There's also the attacker's air superiority
The maps where the defenses are highlighted show that the heavy mutually supporting lines have been bypassed at several points now, and behind those things are not nearly as dense and seem to be suffering as you say from bypassing and getting cut off.

All of this is happening in the east of Ukraine while west of the Dnjepper they don't really notice the war. I will bet all I have that once the west of Ukraine starts to feel the impact of this conflict Zelensly will be history and the war will be over in a hurry.
Zelensky is using the war to cling to power. Once the war is over, he is out of Ukraine, or he will be removed from the planet.
RUAF must take full advantage of this situation before Ukraine receive new aid from the West.

No, the afu has lost. Even if it received 900 tanks it couldn’t train anyone to use them- either tactically or just to drive the thing at the front. A few NLaws might add a few days- this is what game over looks like
Aid is mostly in ammunition. Shells, HIMARS rockets(including ATACMS). Ukraine's crucial problem is manpower. They lack regular contingent to hold the frontline so they are throwing an "Elite" assault brigade(by name, but not by number of servicemen) to plug holes again and again, consistently diminishing it's strength.

At this point, the AFU had to retreat until the next line of defense to try holding the RUAF until the aid arrive.

There is no "next line of defense" this is the last proper one and even then it's not a very good one, the Dnieper is the only natural defensive position that would be difficult to break through but there is not any defenses West of the Dnieper, everything was put in the East and North. If the Russians could take a few bridges and establish a strong position on the West bank in the South and place drone jamming devices at the strategically important places then it wouldn't be difficult to imagine them actually holding and breaking through. But I guess the Russians will want to push the North back significantly before they try to make a dash for Odessa.
this is the end of the road. The river is the last stop - and even then that might not work.

Ukrainian military with NATO partners have been building these fortifications, tunnels, bunkers, trenches, defence lines across eastern & southern Ukraine, since 2014 atleast😳!!. But many also remain from WW2 & WW1. Many rivers, creeks, canals, waterways, resevoirs & dams that must be crossed also cover the land. Much war has been fought on this land in the past century, great fronts have been fought here between Russia & Germany, the Nazis camped here & launched & supplied their invasions & sieges on Stalingrad & Leningrad from here & from Kharkov😳?. Is it a coincidence or by accident that two great militaries meet here once again, a western NATO backed Nazi Ukraine military, against the great Russian military once again😳?. Again they came to Russia's borders, not Russia to theirs🤔?. Again coincidence or ???. But again the great Russian spirit, the great Russian military is overcoming & smashing these fortifications & defensive lines & the enemy, & are clearing it permanently field by field, village by village & town by town, every kilometre is westward now until full completion of Russia's goals of the SMO!!.

Russia can fight easily on the other side of the river. They already did in the South, but the easiest thing is to come down from the North(Belarus). Units preparing logistics there have been there since SMO started.

Don't know why Rus don't use Airborne assaults like they did at the beginning of the war.
Too costly back then. But now, there's a chance with the air defenses down. It might be a good thing to at least try to go after some of those backfield fortifications that might not be manned yet. It would draw forces away from the front to deal with them, and expose more artillery units. It would turn whatever Ukrainian line into a total cluster rearaxial crossthread.
What happens in this hypothetical scenario where the Ukrainian army falls apart and soldiers try flee the country after the offensive which is likely to happen later this summer. Can Poland and Romania etc stop thousands of soldiers coming into their country?

The russians still have a long way to go to the river in the middle and north frontline. It cant be just the weather, right?

The war of 21 century is not about km, but about spirit of the nation. No man can fight war for long time, when he knows for sure that his side can't win. And anyone will lose faith in winning after few years without any victory and only slow retreat.

"at that pace" is a pretty big conditional statement. Ukraine simply doesn't have the sustainability to keep fighting without their capabilities deteriorating any longer. We're already seeing that effect on the battlefield. Russian progress is accelerating, so I don't know why people extrapolate like it's a linear function.
