      I started "R Alpha Lipoic Acid" last night and mine is Alot better today. Not sure if it's related but I heard that it can help out with relieving the pain. Mine has hurt off and on since November of 2023. It's been really bad over the last week up until yesterday and today is much better. Good luck!

      Thank you for the comment. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing symptoms of oral burning. Indeed, hormonal changes can cause a sensation of burning in the mouth, and it doesn't necessarily mean you have BMS (Burning Mouth Syndrome). Several studies indicate that hormonal imbalance can trigger a burning sensation in the mouth. I suggest discussing this with your physician to stabilize estrogen levels.

    Is sensitive teeth part of burning mouth syndrome?

    • @OralPathology360
      @OralPathology360  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi, Thank you for your question. Sensitive teeth may coexist with burning mouth but they are not related per se. For either condition it is important that you visit your dental care provider and get an opinion and any treatment required.

    • @josemiguelamenabar
      @josemiguelamenabar Před 10 měsíci +1

      Sensitive teeth and burning mouth syndrome are not related. However, there can be some overlap or co-occurrence. That is why is important to consult with a dentist if you are experiencing either sensitive teeth or symptoms of burning mouth syndrome, as they can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend the best treatment.

    How do I use the chamomile mouth rinse? How successful is it?

    • @josemiguelamenabar
      @josemiguelamenabar Před 10 měsíci +3

      We typically instruct the patient to rinse with cold chamomile tea, at least for 1 minute, 5-6 times a day. When you begin to notice the burning sensation, you can perform the rinse.
      Regarding the success rate, we see improvements (reduction in the burning sensation) in 80-90% of cases, but it takes some time to achieve this improvement (6-8 weeks).

    I have yet to find similar symptom to me. My BMS started with feeling of something stuck in throat. It is still there and often results in lots of throat clearing and sounding congested. The place I feel it seems to change so there is nothing really stuck in my throat. I've had a CT scan, barium swallow, upper endoscopy with bravo (pH test). I had my uvula removed as we thought that was touching my tongue. Nothing has helped and I'm at my wits end. Anyone also have that feeling of something stuck in the throat along with BMS? Also I'm a 54 year old man, and this usually affects women. Going on 2 years now.

    I used a chlorhexidine mouthwash (periogard) yesterday , and right now my mouth is experiencing burning sensations esp my tongue and lips, I researched that this could potentially be a side effect of chlorhexidine, but its been like this for the past 18 hours im afraid it might develope to BMS, what should i do ?

    • @OralPathology360
      @OralPathology360  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Please do not be alarmed, it is possible you are having a mild reaction/irritation because of the mouthwash. Uncomfortable as this is right now the chances of this one time use leading to BMS is very minuscule. Relax and have soothing food and drink for a couple of days. All should be well.

    Are there any Dr's that to CZcams or ?? Looking for patients to work with on certain issues such as Burning Mouth syndrome? So ppl see what is happening step by step with on going treatments?
    My issue also included 2 masses that grew on my tongue. Both removed and no cancer. But was odd. I only saw 1 which grew like a large skin tag. But once the dr went to remove it, found a second smaller one behind it. Both way back near back teeth. Only recently diagnosed with BMS though. It only took 4 yrs. This should tell you about the drs here...
    I'd like the dr/everyone to know the full story and everything we had to do to get back on track..

      @OralPathology360 Ha ha... it wasn't that easy to diagnose. I was told several things and drs and dentists refused to touch me until i was diagnosed. And still i haven't seen a dentist... tge dr just put me in a medication, i sit on my tongue to disolve. Its not helping yet.
      Btw, this took almost 5 yrs to just get to this point.
      I figured if a Dr nearby wanted to go through the process to see what works and not, maybe this could help someone else going through this....
      It is frustrating because general practitioners dont know squat about who to send you to...
      I saw 3 different ENTs and paid to see dentists that refused to touch me, back to ENTs and then ER 2x. I got a weird facial infection that reached into my right ear... my face swollen , eyes shut. Er gave me cream and meds, by tge next day my ear was pouring blood. Returned to the ER and immediately pumped with several drugs via IV for 6 days. Liquid diet etc.. 3 dif IVs. They had to put 1 in all the way to my heart. The ENT was a partner to one i had previously seen that didn't know what it was. Infact he thought it was an auto immune issue then walked it back by next in office visit. Then i finally got to a oral pathologist.
      I just thought maybe to help others not have to go through all i did. I had 2 6/7 disc caging surgeries and it initially started before then but because of the hell i went through to get my surgeries and redundant testing for several yrs.. lied to by the fake bs surgeon... 1 month say i need 3 discs fused, then every month added something different. As if to normalize something vs just come out and tell me...
      C-2 to T-1or 2 and C-3 to T2 or 3
      Front and back. Its slightly offset and i have constant pain...
      Anyhow, because of the delays over 3 yrs of bs redundant tests.. my newest ortho dr told them my final tests will be in the hospital vs outside labs. So they insurance couldn't delay it again.

This was a year ago….additionally I have developed vulvodynia and they both seem to happen at the same times. I’m wondering if this may be from my emotions and grief. What is your opinion? I have been checked out by many doctors and dentists, and they find nothing? I am 73, post menopausal, healthy. Would love to hear your opinion about this. Thank u Bon Chauvin

      I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing these issues for a year now. Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) can be a challenging condition to diagnose and manage. The exact cause of BMS is often unclear and can be associated with various factors, including hormonal changes and psychological factors. In your case, based on your story, I believe it may be related to the painful decision you had to make for your cat. Perhaps you should consider seeking psychological support. Given the emotional stress and grief you are experiencing, counseling or therapy may help in managing the emotional aspects of the condition.
