- Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! Back with the amazing Tommy Johansson and Majestica. This song was so much fun. As soon as I recorded it I went and looked up the meaning. Tommy states, “‘Night Call Girl’ is a huge tribute to the 80’s metal we grew up with. It’s a mix between GARY MOORE, RICK SPRINGFIELD, EUROPE and JOURNEY. The lyrics are all about the classical catch phrases they used in those days and it has one of the best “sing along” choruses on the album. Power metal doesn’t go far away from 80’s metal so that’s why we felt that this tribute to our 80’s hair metal heroes fits great on »Above The Sky«.”

A great song with a strong mid 80s Gary Moore vibe. A song like Hold on to love comes to mind listening to this. 👍

Yes that is my plan. I usually take a lot of my vacation in December and I plan to cover that album in detail as much as possible. I am sooooooooo looking forward to it.
One of my favorites from the Above The Sky record, is Father Time...lyrics are funny, playing is great. This song is a filler...not a strong stand alone.

Jeff's parents went to the church my parent's helped found (according to my brothers long ago). I added Father Time to check it out!

I have to say that I don't really like the lyrics in this song, but the song is very 80ies. And Tommy always nails the vocals.
One of my favourites from Tommy's older stuff is The terror has begun from his Reinxeed years
The Voyage is my favourite song from 1912, with The teror has begun as a very close second, but that whole album is a masterpiece
I wasn't a fan of some of the language but when I read the intent of the song from Tommy himself

PS: he had a band-ish thing called Hot Beef Injection.... Funny songs with funny videos. And he cooperated with Golden Resurrection.
Tommy just has a way putting a song together that the lyrics just flow with music. His voice kind of nestles into the instrumentation and makes a song sort of whole, I hope you understand what I am trying to say. It just feels like there is no other way to arrange this song. It is brilliant
Yes 100% understand. His vocals are not the lead of the song, but a part of the song that makes it complete.

I love this song, as a huge Bon Jovi fan these kinds of lyrics seem very familiar. Can't wait until you hear "Father Time" (it would be great for Christmas season), you'll have loads of fun with that song 😂Today he released 18 and Life by Skid Row - goosebumps all over. Edit: your mention of Heat of the Moment made me remember my favourite episode of Supernatural
