Definitely easier than Part 1. Also, it does help to have the alphanumeric keypad like the one in your video. I have just numeric keypad and smaller screen. I had to get around that by barrowing a similar keypad as yours, land it, and address it to 17 as a second keypad...then I was able to follow along with ease. Probably saved over $150 not having to call for service to program. Thanks for this video!

Nice video. I tried to use this method to program a 5801 remote to my vista 20P, but after I entered the S/N and pressed *, it would stay in the same place with the cursor to the far right under "L" like it needed an entry there. Pressing star would not advance it. Also the starting zone # came up as 31. I tried to put 49 or 53 there, but it would always go back to #31. Is it because the 5801 requires a different programming procedure?

When I get to the step to enter the keyfob SN, the cursor is on the loop number and not the SN. So I can't enter the SN. If I press a button on the keyfob, the SN does not appear on the screen. On the next step, to confirm, when I press a button on the keyfob, the SN does appear on the screen. How can I enter the SN manually?

I am having a problem with ADT and my alarm panel. They gave me really crappy monitoring service where multiple times my alarm was set off and they never bothered to call me to verify if we needed help or even notifed the police. So when my contract was up I decided to cancel the monitoring service all together. Almost immediately my alarm system started giving me all sorts of errors codes and would not arm with the key pad, the key fob still worked at that time. I decided to call ADT and tried to schedule a service call but they would not let me do that without signing a new 2 year monitoring agreement. I told them I would not do that and hung up the phone. The next day my key fob stopped working as well and my alarm seemed completely broken at that point I was no longer able to activate the system with the keypad nor key fob. At that point I was looking at the panel and realized it was still connected to the internet and ADT had been in communication with my system. I unplugged the internet connection and power cycled the entire system. Immediately the entire system started working again, the only issue now is an error that pops up because the system is not happy it can not communicate with ADT any longer. ADT tried to back me into a corner and force me to sign a new monitoring agreement even though they gave me horrible service and didn't even do a decent job at monitoring my system. They were going to leave me without any security system at all by making me think my system was broken even though it is my system that I own, they still sent these shut down codes to make it stop working. Everything has been working fine since disconnecting it from the internet and the ADT system, except the fact my alarm code no longer works when typing on the key pad. The only way I can arm and disarm the system is with the key fob. My issue now is I want to add a 2nd key fob to the system so that my roommate can arm and disarm the system as well. I ordered a 2nd key fob but I am concerned that without having a code that works on the keypad to enter the system that I will not be able to install the 2nd FOB like you show in the video. ADT will be no help and will only try and force me into a new monitoring agreement before they will be willing to get the system working properly again, which I am sure will just be a couple buttons they push remotely to turn things back on the same way they disconnected them prior to my disconnecting the system from the internet so they could no longer access my system remotely to keep deactivating it at will until I gave in and signed their contract. Is there a way I can assign a new master code to my system without knowing what ADT changed it to? If not can I at least install the 2nd key fob without having a code I can type in on the keypad? I tried my old code multiple times but it no longer works, so ADT has definitely changed or shut my code off and only their master code remains which they never gave to me. Any help or info you can supply will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg

power down system. power it up and you have 50 secs to press star and pound. you will see 20. you can see installer code by pressing #20 and you can change it by *20 and put in a new 4 digit code. press *99 to get out of programming. put in installer code then 8 then 02.. then next 4 digits will be the new master code. it will sound and you can use that new code to arm and disarm.
