My Wife and I have been on Medicare Advantage plans for 11 years, We have saved many times the possible annual maximum out of pocket cost. We have PPO's never an HMO. I self refer. My VA contact asked why I had so many specialists, My reply was becasue I can, and becasue I need them, Our network is very broad and includes every hospital in the region.
I go to a gym where my plan pays the membership and pays me to go. I just had my annual dental check up and X rays. $0 cost. 4 peridontal cleanings per year. $0 30% off any other work. Again the network is huge
I think both of my Medicare Advantage proviers have managed my care very well.

My Aunt was put on medicare advantage without asking her. She kept on being denied coverage for rehab hospitals she originally was covered for under traditional medicare for example. So called medicare advantage should really be called "privatized medicare ran by for profit insurance compaines." When the "bottom line" matters more than coverage...coverage gets reduced. She went back to traditional during open enrollment and all it took was choosing a different drug plan (part D).

Great presentation! I will ignore all of the MA ads and go with traditional Medicare. I plan to apply as soon as I am able (1 June 2022). With Original Medicare Parts A & B, plus TRICARE for Life, I should be good to go.

  • @jamessteamerslifeadventure9695

I have spent less than $800 combined on all of my health care in 64 years. I just can't make myself pay $173 a month for nothing. I will take the free Part A and hope to negotiate the crazy price if something happens. They should lower the premium for those getting a lower amount of Social Security. For me this would reduce my benefits by over 20%!

Wow...this is awesome info...no advantage plans for me or my husband. On the surface it looks great...but a closer look shows that it's not cost effective.

Great advice! So glad I spent hours watching YT videos learning before I succumbed to the one of the 500 offers for Medicare advantage. My wife and I are both on "plan N" now, less than $100./mo for both of us.

Medicare part a+b and supplement part G. It's awesome and $226 (2023) deduction and 100% after that, no insurance interference.

I understand when your on original Medicare you switch to a MA plan
If you can switch back to original medicare if you can in your state, you'll be paying a much higher dollar amout to switch back to original medicare part B.
    I live in Pennsylvania.

Your information is somewhat outdated, or perhaps it may be just specific to where you are. When you’re talking about referrals and waiting periods, you were talking about certain Medicare advantage plans. However, in most states depending on the carrier those situations don’t exist. In addition with a Medicare supplement plan you will still need to get vision care and dental care, and that doesn’t include some of the many benefits that Medicare advantage plans offer now. in addition to PPO coverage,Vision, dental, virtual consulting, gym memberships, if you’re a diabetic or have a chronic condition, zero co-pay deductibles for services, rides to doctors appointments, ambulance services and the list goes on. For most Americans a PPO Medicare advantage plan will be less expensive and provide more benefits than traditional Medicare with a Medicare supplement then having to add vision, dental and other services.
I would agree that the certain Medicare advantage plans are nothing more than HMOs, so you have to be careful which plan you choose.
Again regarding coverage outside of the Netwerk, there are many companies, United healthcare being one of them that offer almost identical coverage is whether you’re in or out of network, saw your information stating that you would have to go back to your covered state to receive services is somewhat in accurate.

What about TriCare though - my understanding is you have to use an advantage plan in order to keep TriCare

I’ve used original medicare for yrs. I hate the physician options. I’m seeing Medicare advantage is PPO which to me is worth it to pay more and get a higher quality choice of Dr’s.

Move out of the service area for your Advantage Plan and you will be eligible to go back to Original Medicare (Supplement Plan + Drug Plan).

The big S&P 500 company that I retired from reimburses me $125 of the $170/mth that Medicare charges me for Plans A&B. This leaves me with a $50/mth comprehensive medical insurance bill in my retirement. This is lower than I have EVER in my life had to pay, out of pocket ,for a Comprehensive Medical Ins. Plan. Please advise me how I am making the WRONG decision with my Aetna Advantage plan? Very interested in your response. Thanks!

NO FOLLOW-UP COMMENT??? Come on! Many of your subs are in this situation and absolutely NO follow-up after almost a month. Why would someone in this situation NOT sign up for a Advantage Plan?

The method that the United States uses to pay for health care is astoundingly incomprehensible and works only because its citizens are so ill informed. We pay up to 50% more than other western countries and get a way worse results. Be sure to thank the insurance industry and Republicans.

And you have to add additional drug, dental, hearing and vision plans to do an apples-to-apples comparison to Medicare Advantage. Where I live this bumps up a G plan from $150 to $225 at age 62.
