    Seattle Marko - Josh just want to say how much I enjoy your videos. Have done some direct purchases from Silca, as well as calling and emailing questions and your team is just top notch.
    In this video even though you are in the latex tube biz you still put a plug in for a competitor in an appropriate application. 👍

    I have the two older rolls with the skinny bit of elastic down the middle. Glad to see the improvements, they are a lovely bit of kit. Both of mine come loose with the BOA and I use a toestrap to keep them secured to the bike.

    I have the older seat roll, the one with the reflective stitching on my gravel bike and love it! One of the main reasons is the BOA closure. All other packs I’ve used on my gravel or Mtn-bikes has had ineffective Velcro straps to attach or one had a clip and hardware to attach to the seat rails. All poorly designed because they rattled and became loose, I have even lost one on the trails.
    Josh, you are truly an expert and user/rider of all you products, I think that and the fact that you always use the best materials and never cut corners. I have already bought many items and will accumulate more as I replace my inferior products. Thanks 😊

    Saw someone with a mattone in person. Sleek, compact, secure, and was able to spot it visibly from far away. Ordered one after that morning ride. Nicely done.

    I had the same problem as most of you, I think that even here they do not explain well how to place it, since the rails of each saddle are different.
    What I did was try to place it at the end of the saddle rails, not at the bottom as it appears in this video and tighten until it does not move at all.
    If you find the right place, it is a very good product for your bike.

    This is very helpful. It would be great if you linked videos like this to the product pages of the items. I got here by emailing about the differences and your helpful sales team sent me the link. It helped me to choose the roll pack (I already have one for my road bike and I will get one now for my touring bike). Instead of a spare tube, for my tubeless tires I carry a Dynaplug repair kit, which works like repair kits for auto tires - you push a plug impregnated with some sort of self-curing sticky stuff into the hole and you're done! I've used this for several years with Schwalbe Pro Ones. The kit is much, much smaller than a spare tube and the repair is easy.

    2:11 A tire lever weighs like 20 grams and can save your butt if you need leverage to pull on a tough tire. Definitely would NOT ride without a tire lever on me, unless I'm in a race.

    I’ve been using your Premio seat roll for years and it is the perfect tool roll, although it is looking a bit worn now. I tried using the Asymetrico (with the same contents) about a year ago but had to send it back as the boa strap was too short. Have you extended it on newer models?

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před rokem

      Yes, our very early Asymetricos had the Boa cable tied to short in manufacturing, this has been fixed in current production.

    I've been using the super secret chain for the last 3 months and it's been great. I was wondering what do you use to clean the chain with before applying another coat? I have been just wiping it down with alcohol wipes. Thanks

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 3 lety +2

      We recommend the SILCA gear wipes, they contain 5 different types of alcohol, each targeted at a specific thing, one for grease/oil, one for dirt/organics, one for sugars (drink mix and the like), one for proteins, and one for wax. All of the alcohols will fully evaporate after a few minutes leaving no residue behind so you can re-lube.

    I've got the seat roll, the boa strap keeps undoing itself whilst I ride is it faulty or is there a knack to getting it to stay on the rails?

    Hi Josh, you need to make a Water Cage Tool Bottle,like Specialized KEG Storage Vessel 16oz. Thats what I use in my bike, only downside is just one bottle of water but for me is OK.... I will happily pay for a Silca Branded one :)

    I just got the asymmetrico. It simply doesn’t stay attached to the seat without sliding out of there boa straps. 😢 I’ve tried many positions. I’ll try for a bit longer but it’s definitely frustrating.

  • @johncook3758
    @johncook3758 Před 2 lety

    Not crazy about the Asymetrico saddle bag. My CO2 cartridges must be longer than the Silca cartridges because they stick up out of their designated pocket, especially if I attach the Eolo regulator as recommended. Makes me concerned one or both could come out the top of the bag.

  • @carrlos
    @carrlos Před 3 lety +2

    I loved my Asymmetrico until 4 days into my 6 day, 542 mile ride. It started to drop and hang after every significant bump in the road. And it only has one CO2 cartridge with adapter, one tube, one multitool, and three plastic levers. I much prefer it to the Mattone but I wish I didn't have this issue. I hate traditional under-the-seat bags.

    My asymmetrical roll looks like the BOA is below the center of the bundle and on gravel rides it will work its way loose and then it flips over. At least I have not lost it but will continue to watch videos to determine what I might be doing wrong.

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 2 lety

      Tim, before installation on the bike, give it a bit of a shift to center the BOA on the pack, then tighten it as much as possible once installed and you should be good!

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 3 lety +1

      If it's less than 2" tube and as long as it's a 'light' butyl tube it will work.. but a wider or thicker tube will be too big. - Josh

    Hi guys, I read a lot of bad reviews on Amazon complaining that the Asymmetrico roll does not stay in place and is prone to sliding out of the boa straps while riding. Have you received any feedback regarding this matter? I love the idea of the roll, but I'm concerned about so many reviews stating the same exact problem. Would the Mattone be a safer bet?

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 3 lety +5

      A seat roll, is and old school type of product for a very particular type of customer who enjoys the details and who wants to really optimize their storage in a thoughtful way. If you like cleaning your drivetrain, or gluing tubulars, you are probably an ideal seat roll customer. The roll has to be stuffed tightly, folded and wrapped tightly, and then attached tightly.. it takes some finger strength and a bit of practice to do it well. If you look at the bad review photos you will see that most all of them are over-stuffed, folded after rolling, upside down, or way under tension on the Boa. This is not to pick on those customers, they were buying something they really liked the idea of and just didn't realize there was some thought and effort involved in the packing. The flip side of this are the customers who own rolls for all their bikes and love them and write into us to tell us how they get into debates with their buddies over the best possible way to fold the thing, or how to slide the multi-tool to one side of the pocket to get it to have a cleaner look once it's all rolled, or the folks who instagram their layouts and folding strategies to show off the particular way that they do it. Ultimately it comes down to your interests, if you like being very particular or chasing optimizations of little details related to your cycling, it will be a good product for you, if you don't want to think about it or don't care, then the Mattone is for you, just stuff it and strap it.

    • @SILCAVelo

      Use the microfiber towel between rides and before/after adding lube, use the gear wipes for deeper cleaning and to remove extra lube from rings and cogs.

    Is the BOA on the mattone bidirectional? Can the mattone accommodate an "Ass Saver" quick fender?

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 3 lety

      Best answer is 'sort of'.. the bag sits high enough that it definitely deforms the ass-saver, but I've done it on a Brooks Cambium with OK results..

    This designs maybe stylish, but are awful for one reason: you have to take off the bike the entire bag for taking out something of it.

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  Před 2 lety

      That's why we also make the Mattone, which is a more traditional bag. Seat roll fans like the fact that all the contents of the bag go to where you need them rather than stay on the bike.. but if you want it all on the bike, the Mattone works like a traditional bag with access to your stuff even when installed.

    • @RedShipsofSpainAgain
      @RedShipsofSpainAgain Před rokem

      @@SILCAVelo I think the bigger value-add of the seat roll is how compact it can be made if only carrying a small tube and gel or cliff bar. This in contrast with the Mattone bag, which stays the same volume regardless if it is empty or filled with gear. I think an AWESOME idea would be to combine these two designs (the seat roll and the Mattone) into a single product: a traditional bag that also cinches snugly to accommodate only the items you're storing in the bag.
      This could be done using your BOA strap. This design would allow the bag to grow or shrink depending on how much gear you are loading into the bag. So when going on a week-long tour, you can expand the bag to its max capacity. But if just heading out for a 3 hour ride, it shrinks down to smaller size since you'd only be needing minimal items, like a single tube and tire lever.
