- Jeffrey Snedden tells the story of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Eventually known as the "Pennsy" by its customers, the railroad operated 15 passenger stations in Beaver County until train use trailed off in the 1930s and 1940s.

I grew up with my Grandparents in Crestline, OH. My Grandfather retired from the Pennsy after 49 years with the railroad. So sad to see the railroad yard demolished in Crestline. Lots of childhood memories. Thanks for the great history in a nutshell. Much appreciated.
Same here on very few trains if any here in old Norfolk Southern rt . Norfolk Va. to Charlotte Nc. As a boy ( in the 60’s ,70’s ) the trains blasted through every hour now none .
1:58 Actually, the freight handling division of the Penn Central went to Conrail.
My Mother made a claim , She never thought she would see railroads go out of business . She was born in 1929 and passed away in 2009 .
I have one of the original Pennsylvania Railroad spikes and it has never been used from 1950
Very interesting
where does the Pennsy cross the Appalachians?
Have you ever heard of Horseshoe curve? That was part of the Pennsylvania Railroads mainline and its technological marvel to cross the Alleghenies. It's now Norfolk Southern's Harrisburg to Pittsburgh line.
I like the the history of stuff but I never heard this Pennsylvania was with B&O
The B&O became part of Chessie System along with the Chesapeake and Ohio and Western Maryland railroads, later called CSX after it merged with Seaboard. The Pennsylvania Railroad became Penn Central and then Conrail before being split between Norfolk Southern and CSX in 1999.
Whats the music you used? Thanks

The best railroad is the Norfolk & Western.

And now Norfolk Southern is the worst railroad!
