Dead & Company is a band consisting of former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir (guitar), Mickey Hart (drums), and Bill Kreutzmann (drums), along with John Mayer (guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass/drums), and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards).[1][2][3]
Mayer recounts that in 2011 he was listening to Pandora and happened upon the song "Althea" by the Grateful Dead, and that soon Grateful Dead music was all he would listen to.[4] In February 2015, while Mayer was guest hosting The Late Late Show, he invited Grateful Dead guitar player Bob Weir to join him in a studio performance. A bond developed between the two, and while Weir and the other three surviving core members of the Grateful Dead were preparing for their 50th anniversary shows, dubbed Fare Thee Well, Mayer began practicing the band's large catalog of songs. That August, Mayer and original Grateful Dead members Weir, Hart, and Kreutzmann formed the band, along with keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and bassist Oteil Burbridge. Mayer expressed a particularly strong enthusiasm toward playing with the new band.[5][6]
Phil Lesh, the original bassist for the Grateful Dead, declined to join.[7][8] Mike Gordon of Phish briefly auditioned for the bassist role but had to withdraw due to being too busy with other matters.[5]

This here is a thing of beauty and cements John Mayer as one of the greatest musicians of the last 25 years.
I'll never forget, I saw him in Richmond, VA, in December of 2004 (I think?), was there mostly because my friends and my girlfriend really wanted to see him, but my entire outlook about him changed that night. That was before he ditched his "Your Body Is a Wonderland" pop star stuff/persona, but my god he could play, and that was instantly obvious, especially during the improvised, unscripted music from that show.
He really is among the best guitarists alive, easily.
definitely think Billy was fighting back tears.. looks like he belted out that opening line with John and got choked up. can't blame him
I was there .. at this show .. and wow... what an experience it was .. I'll never forget it
Wow … beautiful ❤️👍 my favorite Grateful Dead song 🎵
What a beautiful rendition of a magical song ❤
Terrapin was Jerry’s ode to joy….
That intro sounds like a Radiohead song or “don’t panic “from cold play! Love it
I wish I could have seen this. This is amazing.
I feel like I'm tripping just watching that backdrop and Mayers lyrics
Righteous song, thanks for posting
the vocals at 1:48 sheesh
? Not sure it posted… forgive me if it’s a duplicate… so I’ll add I was b,blessed to watch … him create a small bit of it … the lady part. I’ve long since forgotten that. As I grow into an old crone, I need to remember how much the pits of my despair have allowed me to see unbridled joy!
Wow, nice as pie!
🥈sounds good🏅
❤✌️☮️🕊
Family Reunion at ALPINE!
Oteil….
Some songs really need to be retired After the original artist that sang the song/s has passed away. This rendition does Terrapin Station or the memory of Jerry😢 No Justice At All.
Your Opinion, cool and
comments and Billy say otherwise.... Ya didn't even watch.
