    Was good Kiloz, we met in L.A. you were covering the USO 30th Anniversary. I enjoyed your video. I agree on most of your points especially the white inner fenders and 3" WW's. But at the end of the day, to each his own. The wonderful thing about Lowriding is every car, bike, truck or pedal car are blank canvases. And each builder is there own artist. I'm one of those people that has a Booty Kit on my GBody. In my area of the world, it helps me stand out from other builds! I love mine and REALLY don't care who doesn't like it!
    When it comes to engraving, I literally just got into it about 2.5 yrs now. I have had good success with the company I have dealt with as far as quality. However I agree totally that they are accents. The one thing I told myself I was not going to do is OVER ENGRAVE! I didn't want my car to look like "June Bug" from I'm Gonna Get You Sucka😅
    Speaking only for my ride less is more. I have accents on the engine, some interior and a couple of pieces in the trunk for a flow through the car, not take over the car. It's almost like Big rims, everything should accentuate the ride. If you look at the ride and your only take away was "look at those rims on that car vs look at that bada** car then you've detracted from it!
    But again I say to each his own, my 2 cents! Peace and Blessings 🙏🏿

      🌴 Peace UCE, thanks for taking time and checking
      Out my video. I agree everyone has a blank canvas, I just wanted to share the perspectives that were shared with me. As I mentioned I almost went with the continental kit on my cutlass and I have one for my 64 but don’t know if I want to run it or not. I like engraving that looks different from others work but if you and the car next to you has the same exact part from the same vendor it’s less cool in my eyes but that’s just me personally. Peace and many blessings UCE 🌴

    I agree with your list. One to add to that/your list is stock/reinforced rear-ends, and/or Toyota (Tacoma) rear-ends under lowriders. I don't understand how one spends thousands of dollars on reinforced frame, Adex dumps, fake Zeniths, engraving, and patterns, but reinforce a stock rear-end or get a Toyota rear-end from a salvage yard. Doesn't make sense (to me).

      I agree and have spoken to several people about this, their response is usually similar in a sense; they don’t want to put no Ford part in a Chevy. I design to have the least points of failure, so no axel runs, no welding the axel bearing on, no snapping axels; go ford 9 but it’s interesting hearing peoples reasoning, I can usually respect that one depending when the car was built.

    I like how you said, these things have worn out their welcome. Thats what it is. Theres all types of lowriders, traditionalists, progressives/visionaries. So some guys try to push it further and further and sometimes its cool and sometimes its not. Way back some 1st guy decided to chrome suspension parts and chrome everything. That stuck. From competition or visionaries, the next guy had to out do them so they started gold plating everything and that was looked at as better and more expensive. Next guy had to outdo that so he engraved everything cuz it cost more. Next guy had to outdo that so they did gold and chrome engraving. It just couldnt evolve anymore, it got more affordable and it got played out when everyone was getting it. The classic clean chrome started to look better then everything engraved. Same with wheels, look what people do to wheels now, 3 different colors, twisted spokes, rings, chips, hub rings, engraving etc etc, they did that to outdo the next guy but at some point just a classic plain dayton looks better then all that. Wireless switches was someone trying to use technology, but it just wasnt necessary. So i can appreciate those that try to push the customizing theres always gonna be those guys, but like you said, alot of it has wore out its welcome.

    I like gangster windows myself, plan on running one on my 61 rag. I agree with the engraving though unless its something custom. Buying engraved parts that are the same as everyone else is really lame.
    When it comes to the high lockups I couldn't care either way. Don't personally plan to have a high lockup on my car. I am more of a simple lay and play guy. When I was younger I would have been into that, but my taste has become more refined as I got older.

      Yes they are actually from cabriolet models of old Ford's, the 30s convertibles they were the regular window on the vert top. There was a few sizes. I'm personally putting one on my vert but it's the bigger size not those "mail slot" ones that are only 2-3" tall. Another downside of the cabriolet window is you can't see the plaque looking in or traffic looking out. I've never heard of them on Volkswagens but maybe it's possible. Just doing research you'll see they are cabriolet windows. You'll see them at hot rod shows too.

    There is stuff that is becoming VERY “Cookie Cutter” and in my humble Midwest born and raised that is exactly what lowriding is not about. Lowriders are about expressing your individuality. The engraving company making cookie cutter parts that all look the same as well and most of time fit like shit. Then you call them telling them that you have a pillar trim that doesn’t fit and they argue with you that it does lol. Now we are starting to get some of these hydraulic companies that are also pre-making hydraulic components that are also cookie cutter, specifically racks, battery tie-downs, pump mount platforms and trunk panels. In 10 years are we going to be able to go to autozone and get all this stuff? 😂😂

      Just like in fashion things go in and out of style. Some things are times like a suite and sometimes things age like when everyone had white tee’s 8x down to their knees. Both exist during the same time but one is still in fashion and the other is not. Same difference with lowriding.

  • @mayoroflosangeles
    @mayoroflosangeles Před 5 měsíci +1

    another great video and I almost agree on everything with you. Gangster windows are overdone, engraving looks like wrinkled tin foil to me, high lock ups = clown cars and are horrible to ride in.
    A friend of mine went to school to become a gun engraver. His engraving is totally different - he even engraves little hunting scenes and stuff like that. Less is more and be different. Like you said, it all comes from the same source, it looks cheap and overdone.
    Regarding the gangster white walls, I always thought its a New Mexico thing. And in the 90s there were some Central Coast and norther California cars with wide whitewalls. Pegasus Hobbies sold 'Gangster Whitewalls' - I was really stoked and wanted to put them on a bomb. But in the end it looked so weird. The still lay around and I never liked them on any of my model builds. But they do look good on a NW Lowrider.
    Reverbs Rules!!!!!
    White undercarriage is cool but I am into 60s custom cars.
    What I don t like most of the paint jobs look the same. They all go for that Kandy NChrome roof design. And everybody is rocking the fake Zeniths.
    STREET ROD INTERIORS ARE LAME. Don t try to win the riddler.

    • @KilozMedia
      @KilozMedia  Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for always checking out my content! I like good engraving parts but a lot of the parts are trash. I honestly died with the New Mexico white walls comment, it does seem to be more New Mexico cars with those tires then a anywhere else. 60’s and 70’s era builds definitely rule for sure 😎

    What’s up Kiloz?!?! I’ve been saying for awhile now that engraving is a fad! These guys are engraving every inch of metal on their rides and paying good money to do it. In a couple years they will be taking that shit off and going back with stock chrome bumpers, side moldings, etc. I do like “some” engraving for accents. Less is more in my opinion. As for all these lights, it’s getting outta hand. It reminds me of the 90’s when everyone was putting those neon tubes on their 5.0’s here in Chicagoland. It was cool for a minute but we moved on. Finally, gangster windows are bad-ass!!
