I did got this achievement in a very weird way. The achievement only requires you to complete the Ostland Focus and occupy Lappland, so you can get the achievement without taking out your neighbors. I completed the Focus and immediately justified on Sweden with World Tension at 24%, it went down to 23% then Italy completed their Claims on Yugoslavia focus and spiked World Tension up past 25% meaning Sweden got guaranteed by UK. I cancelled my justification and did the focus that gave we war goals on my neighbors resulting in me getting Lithuania but Estonia got guaranteed by UK. Germany then attacked Poland and Poland didn't join the Allies, meaning WW2 didn't start because UK couldn't guarantee Poland because it didn't have the Political Power to guarantee Poland 'cause it had already guaranteed 2 nations earlier meaning its guarantee cost was much higher than normal. This meant that Germany had to go to war with the Allies by manually justifying on the Benelux countries and doing focuses from their Focus Tree. Thanks to the guarantee on Estonia, the Allies went to war with the USSR before Germany.

@@fipeke when UK guaranteed Sweden I thought about going Democratic, joining the Allies, and betraying Germany after me and Germany beat USSR, but luckily I didn't have to. If I read the Focus Tree right, the Democratic and Fascist paths for Latvia are not mutually exclusive so it's possible to do both paths on the Tree until the devs patch it out; I think.
That's why you always justify on Finland as Germany just to mess with the Soviets.

the achievemtn is an extremely obscure refrence to swedish cheese. The name is "This achivement is cheesy" whichspeaks fpr itself. The requirments are that you form ostland which litteraly means cheeseland in swedish and control västerbotten which is in sweden. In sweden västerbotten ost i quite famous.
In alternative universe: Reichskommissariat Ostland, becomes independent in 1942 and conquers Both Axis and Soviets and forms the Ost-Empire.

I find it ironic how Latvia got a bunch of content surrounding Ostland when it was historically mainly Lithuania that was the focus of Ostland starting during WW1.
All not-so-quiet on the Ostfront.

I got this achievement, it is actually very cheesy, because when you go down the Ostland focus tree it's easy for you to not generate any world tension whatsoever, because the territories become your cores before you "retake them" so after the Polish war you should take only core states keeping the WT % caused low. After the war with the soviets you liberate some republics reducing the WT even more on your part. Then you go down the middle of the focus tree leave axis and join allies (they will accept as you caused 0 WT) declaring the war on Sweden simultaniously. Sweden won't join the axis, as you won't need to call the allies in. So you end up with the whole sweden occupied and NOT AT WAR with allies nor axis. Cheesy it is.
I'm sure in the next DLC paradox will ad shovel upgrades

Seeing this focus Tree makes me want a "The Old ways -> State Paganism -> The Wath of the Old Gods -> Avenge the Ancestors" path for Germany and Scandinavia.
In my experience, it’s very easy to beat the Soviets in No Step Back. I played two different Poland games and 1v1ed them with 20 width infantry and no planes. I beat them by ‘42 both times with like 10:1 KD.
I don't need to buy no step back as my favourite youtuber plays for me
Last time I commented on the Russia video it was one of the most based paths and that is because this is truly the most based path!

I've tried playing Ostland, and I can never seem to get the manpower required to field an army that large. Unless he just went straight to scraping the barrel, but that doesn't seem worth it. I'm not sure, unless there is something I'm missing? It just seems really confusing as to how he had the manpower for all of that...

as Germany against the Soviets: try 27 width infantry (5*27=135(plains)) together with 45 width tanks (3*45=135(plains)) because (3*27=81+45=126(forest)) attacking from more than one side, having these two base templates does best against plains, forest which is most of the soviet union
