The girl at 5:40 “Bukharia is a little village inside Russia” 🤣🤣🤣 There is no “Bukharia”!!! Bukhara is an ancient city in Uzbekistan, which has as much to do with Russia as Jerusalem has with Persia.
Bukhara was a part of the USSR, so I’m assuming that’s what she’s referring to.
yes, she doesn't know what Bukhara is!
Sofia yes, that is what is she referring to for sure
@@amazingabby25 The city was a part of Bukharian Emirate and was occupied by Russia and later on by Russian communist, and they first killed many Jews too, before the rest of them surrounded
@@fadialdajjani9314 your islamic sense of historical insecurity is showing. Buchara in the mind of most jews who recently lived there (the minds of their parents) is a city of the soviet union, yes it has a beutiful ancient past, but to expect a young jewish girl who (like most uzbeks until this day wether ethnically uzbek, tajik, jewish or turkmen) all SPEAK RUSSIAN. So when you act as if buchara is not today still in the russian sphere you are lying to yourself, tell me fadi what script do they use today? The ancient persian, the arab-persian? Or the arab one? None, they use none of those, they use cyrillic because buchara and all of uzbekistan was ruled by russians for over 100 years.
I think there’s some confusion in the video on what constitutes “Bukharia”. For the record, Bukhara is a historic Silk-Road city located in today’s Uzbekistan. It is not a village and it’s not in Russia. The Bukhari Jews are Jews who came from places mostly now within the borders of Uzbekistan. Bukhari Jews are not the same as Russian Jews.

I am from Uzbekistan myself. And I just want to clarify that our language is not called Turkish or Bukhari. We speak Uzbek here, this is one of TurkiC languages. Some regional dialects (like Bukhara, Samarqanad or Khorezm) may have differences in pronunciation, but still can be understood by other Uzbeks.

Since they don't celebrate Channukah, it's a pretty good bet that some of the 10 "lost" tribes escaped Assyrian captivity and made it to Central Asia. Or they settled there during the Achemenid Dynasty.
@wesley8173 not everything revolves around Jesud
Ever just heard of Jewish diaspora? They just went everywhere...
Mythology. The 10 tribes were drawn from the multiethnic population drawn from Canaan, North Africa etc making up ancient Jewry.
@A Sojourner In Judaism by idolatry is meant all the false religions whether they install images or not. A false prophet and a false god are sufficient grounds to stay away from the false religion. As such Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, Buddhism etc are idolatry meaning falsehood from a Jewish perspective.
@A Sojourner this division between Jew and Gentile is superfluous as all humans everywhere share the same set of genes and form one species - homo sapiens sapiens. A religious Jew is different from Non-Jews because of soul type. A Jew's soul comes from HaShem, while a Non-Jewish soul comes from the deity worshipped by the Gentile. The Jewish soul is of worth only if it effulges under intense spiritual practices by which the power and presence of HaShem gradually gets manifested. Otherwise the Jewish soul remains latent and covered by a dense layer of personality defects and evil behaviour. Rituals play a minor role. What counts is burning love and intense aspiration for HaShem that triggers off the mystical experience...
I am from Uzbekistan, very interesting video. These days there are not as many Bukharian Jews left in Uzbekistan as most have migrated to the US or Israel, but they have great culture and as far as I know their language is based on iranian(tajik) with influence from hebrew , russian and uzbek. I think the plant she talks about, in Uzbek we call it isiriq. Lagman is like noodles with meat somewhat similar to ramen if you wish. Something like noodles some broth vegetables and meat.

I am a Pakistani Muslim living in England. I just wanted to say well done for making such thought provoking videos. Yours and other similar videos should be used in schools so that children can understand and accept differing views. God says in the Quran, there is no compulsion in religion , believe or don’t believe, so people should accept and love their fellow human beings for their kindness and actions towards others.
If most Muslims believed like you do then the world would be a much better place!
Thankyou for your comment. You know I personally don’t know anyone whether it’s in my family or extended community who has anything negative to say about Jewish people or Christians. Most normal people are caring and kind towards others regardless of their religion. We all have stereotypes and all it takes is to stop and think for a short while and understand whether what we believe in is a fact or an opinion. If you ever visit England, please look me up and you will be welcomed in my home. Kindest regards
By the way, a few nights ago , I was unable to sleep and came down to have something to eat at 3am. I happened to come across a you tube documentary about a rabbi answering another Jewish person about varying questions about life. The rabbi answered some questions by relating to the Torah and others just through life experience. What a highly intelligent and wise man that rabbi was. He explained the meaning of life and the way we should live and how we should view life Better than anyone that I have come across. There are wonderful Bukharan Jewish musical ensembles and recordings available.

Nothing to do with uzbekistan. Centuries Bukhara was either emirate or kingdom in some form. 90% of Bukhari people are mixed with Jews, Iranians and Arabs. Term Uzbek introduced by grandson of Chingizkhan. Bukharian people are not uzbeks.
I watched this video with an open mind. Watching this video made me realize how UNGRATEFUL these people are. Because of Uzbeks these people are alive. Uzbeks gave them place to live, food to eat, clean water to drink and most of all safety. Here they are not mentioning one bit about Uzbek people and their generosity. Uzbekistan not only opened it’s door to Jews but also to Russian, Koreans, and many other ethnic minorities. Uzbekistan is a Muslim county yet Uzbeks never tried to impose their own religion to Jews. Jews practiced their own religion freely. Uzbeks are very open minded and welcoming people. I love visiting there. I wish Uzbek government would make their citizenship laws little easier.

I beg to differ.
Jews came from Judea , the only Ethnicity we have it's the Jewish Ethnicity ,we are all descended from Judah.
True, some of us have a slightly different culture that we came to Israel with, which is why I, for example, call myself a "Jew with an Arab culture," and not an Arab Jew, there is no such thing as an Arab Jew.
True, some of us look a little different, because first of all it must be assumed that even 2000 years ago some of the Jews looked different and also that Jews mingled with the Gentiles in Europe / Africa / Asia. We are still the same Jews, that's why we returned to Israel, we have one ethnicity - Judaism.

Ashkenazi Jews have more middle eastern genes than European genes. That's a fact.

Besides, Israel isn‘t owned by Jews only because it was promised to you in YOUR holy book. It is „owned“ by all people who have have lived in that region in the past (some much before the Israelites, like the Kanaanites), they have at least as much claim to it like you do!

If you go to genetics we are all have connection to this land.
Archaelogists have found bones , teeths and even hair of people that lived here 3000 years ago , and all Jews even the ones from Poland had ties to the genes of those people.
How can you explain that?
Ofcourse things had changed after 2000 years of diaspora ,Im not claming that we really the same by all means.
But all the Jews or most of the Jews have teis to this land.
Im not hypocrite.
This is so convenient to see us as different and not see the big picture here , our origin is here.

Nope , even genetics show that the Ashkenazi Jews are more middle eastern than Khazarian / European.
The Khazar consiparcy was created to cancel our connetion to this land. We belong to this land from any angle : historically , culturally and genetically

Follow-up questions to those that say yes. What is the overall message of the Qur’an? Why do you believe the Qur’an is from God (Muslims)? Why do you believe it is not from God (Non-Muslims.)
Follow-up questions to those that say no. Why not? Would you ever consider reading it from cover to cover and try to understand what it really says?
Thanks again

Thank you Corey, I love your videos, I try to watch them all. The fact is Bukharian Jewish cuisine has dishes as Uzbek cuisine only 10%. 90% of Bukharian Jewish cuisine is unique to Bukharian Jews only. Because a lot of recipes had to be modified to meet al Kosher requirements, and many dishes were borrowed and modified from other cultures because Bukharian Jews traveled a lot to, China, Perssia, and Europe, and Middle East.
Each new generation in exile loses more and more from authentic Bukharian Jewish culture, but gaining a lot more valuable knowledge in other things, so we are ok with that trade off.

@@user-yg4pu7to9f
Good for you.
In any case, my reply is based on watching all of the videos CGS has published in this channel, 8-9 years 1000-1100 videos.
Many of these videos show a resounding contrast between common conceptions about Israel and Israelis, the way they are portrayed in the media versus reality shown and expressed in these videos.
Inaccurate portrayal by the media is a valid rule for most countries but it is much more accentuated in regards to Israel.
I think it is due to inherent "faults" of the media (good news no news etc.), inherent "defects" of journalists (it is much easier and cheaper to fabricate a conflict zone report from the convenient and safe living of a foreign reporter in Israel than doing it from Syria, Yemen, Libya, or any other of the dozens conflict zones of the middle east.
Of course there's also high impact of the needs and wants of politicians and religious leaders (e.g. Jeremy Corbin calling it the conflict of the middle east while in reality it is a mean to hide and suppress dozens of other conflict).
Btw, one could draw their expected negative answer by looking at GDP per capita, life expectancies, HDI and other comparative international indexes.
@@ef2718 I'm finding it hard to see how this correlates to my reply? I'm well aware of biases
Hello from Samarkand,Uzbekistan
Hello from Judea
@Noah
Judea and Samaria was the home to ancient Jewish communities long before Islam and Christianity.
Certainly long before the political term, WB.
Israel has defacto annexed Judea and Samaria and will extend sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.
It's a reality that you need to deal with now.
We will never allow the establishment of a trst state within our borders.
@Noah
Nope.
All true.
@Noah
Judea and Samaria are terms from the Tanach, thousands of years before the political term WB.
Gaza is a ancient name of a once prosperous Jewish community.
It is mentioned in the Tanach.
@Noah
Shalom from Judea and Samaria: The Heartland of the Nation State of the Jewish people.
WB is a term meant to defranchise the Jewish people from their ancestral homeland Israel.
It didn't work 2000 years ago( Rome).
It will not work now.

No two state solution.

Corey, you make some really interesting videos with Israeli and Palestinian interviewees but occasionally they seem a bit vague or esoteric. Bukhari Jews are well-integrated Israelis who evidently have little desire to go back to their Asian ancestral homes.
What about instead asking the average Israeli in the street, trying to lead a normal life, how is it they manage to cope with the usual pressures of daily life just like in any Western-style democracy, but at the same time being obliged to prepare for war after war, because many Arabs keep refusing peace ?

Last guy says....Not Samarkand......”Bukhara “ ...this is a distinction made today that wasn’t made a generation ago.....once ALL Jews who came from what was once the emirate of Bukhara would include cities like Samarkand, Tashkent, Bukhara etc....
Academics on the subject would say the language is called Judeo -Tadzhik
The emirate of Bukhara didn't include Tashkent. The Russian language has no 'j' sound, so they write e.g. Dzhon (John). The word Tajik تاجیک means 'Iranian', 'Persian speaking as opposed to Turkic speaking'. There is no 'Tajik language'. It's like saying "Gil is from Canada , he speaks judeo-canadian'. "Judaeo-Tajik" is a way to get paid by Israeli universities.
@@user-lk4ol3wq7p very interesting and relieving, now I can study the language of my ancestors. All though Tashkent may never have been in the emirate of Bukhara,,what I meant to say, by extension, Jews like my grandfather who was born in Tashkent, would still call themselves Bukhari,
I guess some call it judeo Bukhari because it was written in Hebrew alphabet....and had a lot of Jewish religious terms.....a dialect of Tadzhik?
@@eytannavon3018 it's not a separate dialect. Jews and Muslims speak the same Northern Persian dialect. If you read a religious book of course there are a lot of Hebrew words. So if you read a book about medicine in English (latin script) written in Canada you will call the language "Catholic Medical Canadian"?
Btw, do you like Dzhon Lennon?
@@eytannavon3018 An idea! Start spelling "Dzhudeo-Tadzhik"

Osh/Ash means 'meal' in Turkic languages, Palov is rice. So basically it means Rice meal in Turkish. The plant for evil eye is called issyryk(or üzerlyk in Turkish) it is a vanishing old shamanic tradition found in some rural homes in Turkey... Khazar-central asian jews still had their Turkic culture beside Judaism it seems
Bukharan people are Persian-speaking Tajiks. They are not Turkic. Samarkand and Bukhara are located in Uzbekistan today because Stalin just decided so in the Soviet times but that doesn't mean they are actually Uzbek. And polo (plov) is also used in almost all Iranian dishes as well, like Zereshk polo. It basically means cooked rice.
Sounds like another couscous dish without so many vegetables.

@@danzan1798 depends on how you define a people. I think how Jews define being a nation is quite convincing. Despite interbreeding and living in exile, they all share a common narrative and history that binds them together.
