    Records are meant to be broken though!
    There are only a few that we can definitely say they are unbreakable, like Brawn GP winning every season they have participated in (ahahah)
    I'd like to see Fernando becoming the oldest world champion in a few years

Both sports naturally have gotten a lot more technical and precise since the 60s, requiring an immense amount of dedication to be able to compete at the top level. Not impossible tho

    Don't know why but I felt bad about Nico Hulkenberg's most races without a podium the most. It's still increasing, likely to reach over 200 races by the end of the 2023 season and over 220 if he has a seat for 2024.
    It will probably never be broken because most drivers are dropped after a few years regardless of their performance, let alone drivers that race long enough in a car incapable of reaching the top 3 without extreme luck.

      It is hurtful for Nico, isn't it. He is a quality driver with amazing consistency but as that number of races without a podium inflates and inflates, I think that if he gets the opportunity for a podium he'll just choke like he did in Germany 2019. Real shame for him, he's a good driver. Super consistent

      @@kennethwichner9516 Max wasn’t anything until he had a faster car than Hamilton, Leclerc hasn’t even managed to challenge Max let alone Hamilton and Russell is far too crash prone atm. He’s a quick driver but once you go wheel to wheel he loses out.

    most of the records held by "new" people are just because they increased immensely the amount of races per season, for example schumacher did a season with 100% podium partecipation but still didnt make to the "most podiums in a season" record

    Schumacher was in a legue of his own. I dont remember a DNF of him, while being his mistake, like Charles spining alone while leading a race. He had some race incidents, and some controversy where he hit other drivers on purpose, but never a mistake.

    Well, it depends on the metrics system used. A season with 24 races will consequently give more points than old seasons that had less races and less points for positions, so nowadays it is easier to beat some records than it used to be. A fairer way of counting would be by percentage.

    Unpopular opinion: it is much easier to break records nowadays with such long seasons!
    If you have a dominant car at the seasons' beginning, you can gather statistics worth almost two seasons of the past. With all the budget, testing, and development caps it is nearly impossible for others to catch up. Hopefully, the new wind tunnel regulations will help.

    I find it interesting in the modern era of motorsports about the rise of prominence given to drivers finishing 2nd and 3rd places in races, with the phrase "podium finish" being used often in positive terms.
    It wasn't always that way.
    Going back decades ago, there was nothing celebratory with finishing third; the driver might as well have finished 10th in the same race.
    Second place finisher would have been given some prominence, as the points earned went towards the championship standings for the driver; but that runner-up driver would be among the crowd, not to be seen sharing space with the victor.

    Pretty sure many of these will be broken. Stuff like basically any oldest category, and youngest driver probably not, but for example I would be surprised if Alonso's most race starts record won't be broken at some point even if he reaches 400.

      Youngest driver is basically impossible, as following Verstappen’s entry, the FIA changed the rules on how old you have to be to have a super license to 18, making that record physically impossible to be broken

    Pretty crazy to think Hamilton was 14 points from another 3 championships, and twice he would have had the points if it wasn’t for mechanical failure (2007, 2016) and once cos the rules were changed during the race.

    Most points is a little of a nonsense...How could someone accumulate 4000+ points in the times when you just had 10 points maximum per race? Or anything with total numbers of races...Fangio had only 5-10 races per season.

      Imagine Alonso had as much luck in his entire career as Lewis or Seb had in any of their seasons. Alonso always had so unreliable cars, maybe expect 2005 and 2006. Literally reliablility and car being slower than 3rd on the grid is only things that stopped him from being the best in terms of numbers, as in terms of skill he is definitely one of the 5 best drivers ever.

      ​@@jurekgadzinowski2895 he never have the best car. In 2005 Mclaren was faster but only don't win the championship because it was unreliable. And in 2006 Renault was on pair with Ferrari.

      @@RacingManiaData semantics argument I know but by putting in how many seasons you are putting the limiting factor as 7 titles in x seasons as the record vs just having the number of titles up would have better displayed that the record in discussion was just overall titles.
