I have to admit that on Day 3 of our trip to Taiwan, I didn’t do the best of planning… in fact I totally forgot that it was Monday, and I didn’t do my research well enough to write down the opening hours of many of the things to do in Taipei, and I didn’t realize many of the attractions in Taipei are closed until we arrived. Our first stop was to the Baoan Temple, one of the most well preserved temples in Taipei. We were also going to try to visit the Confucius Temple, but it was closed on Monday so we had to miss it. While Longshan temple was extremely busy and packed, Baoan temple, at least on the day we went, was extremely calm and not busy at all - there were just a few other people there and so it had a real peacefulness to it. What I really liked about visiting Baoan temple is the artistry of the temple - it really is one of the must visit things to do in Taipei.
After going to Baoan Temple, since I forgot it was Monday and nothing much was open, we decided to go straight to eat lunch. There was a restaurant I looked up on Foursquare not too far away from the temple where we decided to go for lunch called 丸林魯肉飯 Restaurant, unfortunately I’m not sure of the name in English. The restaurant served Taiwanese food all pre-cooked, and so to eat at the restaurant you just had to jump in line, wait your turn, and then choose whichever dishes you want. There was such an incredible selection of food that I found it quite challenging to decided what to order - but eventually I got a piece of salmon, some eggs fried with tomatoes, vegetables, and clam soup. Everything was pretty good and it was a great Taiwanese food dining experience.
In the evening we went to Raohe Night Market, but I decided to make a full video about going to the market so I didn’t include it in this vlog. But stay tuned for it.
That was Day 3 of our tripe to Taiwan. Thank you for watching!

I'm a 66 year old man and I want to go to Taiwan after watching this young man's videos. By the way, you have a good on screen presence and excellent facial expressions. Your diction is superb and your enunciation is perfect. Kudos to you and good luck with great success in the future!
Don Hiers He's American.
Hurry come to Taiwan.
Welcom~~
I'm a Taiwanese.
There's a lot of delicious food and beautiful place, hope you'll like it.
He is the most courteous and polite critic. Disarming bad food with a wink and a smile ^^
Mark Weins that temple was beautiful. I agree the art and drawings were amazing. And $8.25. For a buffet is a very good price especially for two people. i really enjoy your vlogs Mark. Much love from the U.S. Flowood, Mississippi
Add Taiwan to my bucket list. This city is "awesome!"
NYCR Go to china so you can get baked crispy and crunchy by the weather.
So beautiful Mark, I would love to go to Taiwan. Watching this is the next best thing.
I'm just now making my way through the Taiwan series. When I was in Taiwan the last time I didn't make it out of the airport, so I'm definitely looking forward to going back one day. Thanks for always showing us such wonderful food and for being a great personality to watch. And ALWAYS....safe travels :)
I can relate to this:)!!! I was based in Taiwan (kaoshuing) on 1994 and i enjoyed the foods, shopping and countryside travels!!! People r nice and warm too!
Mark is a Spice Warrior! He'll eat a spoonful of peppers, or garlic or ginger, he's not afraid!
‘Stale water that had been sitting around for way too long’😂😂
I FREAKING LOVE IT WHEN HE DOES THE THING WITH HIS EYES
mine william LOL Whenever he does it I do it too :D
Hehehehe
mine william Me too, hunger pangs kick in as well.
I wish i was his son ;-;
mine william I used to love it as well, but now i feel its normal. The fakt that he then tells us "its normal and not so good, because its massproduktion" shows that he is doing that anytime he eats something that is "ok". So if its not really bad then you will see him do this face. I remember him eating giblets (if thats the right translation) that where from yesterday. So because it was expired he got sick the day after.. his reaktion while eating was "oh, its not so good, maybe i just leave it away". I think he is a great guide.. but sometimes i really wonder how bad it has to be for him to refuse it or what it takes for him to say "oh, its really good".
Mark ... The continuity and production values of your work just keeps getting better and better Don't feel bad about them. "Monday" thing ....q I can't tell you how many times I have made the same mistake. Here in the U.S. Many restaurants and museums are closed on Mondays. There is nothing more disappointing than making a trip to a special destination only to fInd that it is closed. Been there, done that and have that autograph! Bud.
Milo Miller Thank you very much Milo, appreciate it.
Me and my daughter love his face motion. Don't change anything !!!
Van NGuyen Thank you Van
Really clean looking restaurant! the fish looks delicious! Waiting for the market video as well. :)
Chrysanths Thanks!
I like when he leans his head one side and closed his eyes then you know it's a really good taste.

Hi Mark, love the temple footage...the painting on the building is amazing!!! You are right, the fish did look alittle dry and the boiled chicken would not have been my choice..but overall the buffet looked good...thanks for the video!!
Can't wait for your next video!
Never been to Taiwan but now I defiantly want to go!
Please go to more well known and popular tourist spots so we can see what Taiwan is like and if we decide to go there this will definitely give us some ideas!

jimmythetango Ha! that "Oh hohohoho" is the ticket!
jimmythetango Thank you Jimmy

Love watching your video's, feel like I am actually there with travelling and experiencing the foods. Your videos are so addictive..
The grilled salmon, add 1 spoonful of boiled oil and some soy sauce, It will become more favorable. The plain boiled chicken, eat the skin, the skin is the highlight, esp they are boiled to the point just right and then were dumped into ice water to make the skin bouncy. The collagen is rich, and u can see there is no fat under the skin either, so it is healthy to eat it.
Hello Mark and Ying great video.
Taiwan is worth a visit, a beautiful country and very nice people .And good food .
joschi starke Thanks Joschi
Literally my favorite youtuber ever, keep on doing what your doing
Goodness, I'm binging on your blogs and videos. They are nicely done with a great balance of narratives and images. Anyway, I love your descriptions of the food, I think they are right on.
I want to know why would anyone dislike these videos. I mean they are absolutely amazing.

You are the best!!! Catching up on what I have missed in this journey
That temple is beautiful! Such incredible detail!
Always good fun. Thank you Mark. The airport, I hope you get a chance to look around before you go home. If a theme park and a shopping mall had a love child, it would be the Taipei airport. My friend and I walked around for about 3 hours looking at the various culture displays, before boarding out flight back to Australia.
I wish to go back in taiwan..I've been there last 2005-2006 i love thier food..
I have been in Taipei in 2019. Plan to visit again but the mf pandemi stole our years. Hope I can visit Taiwan again in 2023. Love Taiwan so much! Friendly ppl, delicious food, great everything!

JANICE BALL Thanks Janice
Can't wait for you to visit the Taipei 101
his face is sooooo sweet
Tai Bei looks terrific.
Nice video Mark!!!
delicious food dishes very good video👍😋💯💖😍
Excellent mark!
Great show👍👍
I completely agree with you about chicken skin. Hainanese chicken rice is the only dish I know of where chicken skin is a good texture to me, unless it's crispy. Also Taiwanese do seem to be fond of a sort of plain taste to taste each meat for what it is.
IT IS ALWAYS A TREAT SEEING YOUR FOOD TRIPS. VLOG AWAY MARK!!!!
kulupingerzi Thanks!
Thank you for free download on your goody food trips.
Hi Mark, I always enjoy your vlogs, especially as you give some helpful travel tips.
Just wanted to point out that the "boiled" chicken is probably steamed chicken which is a favorite of mine. That fish did not look very good. Not every dish is good.
omg I can't believe you discarded the skin, that's the best part!
I watched both video and that that was stinky tofu. Most stinky tofu you would find in Taiwan night markets are fried, but there are also braised stinky tofu you can find in certain restaurants or towns like Shengkeng (深坑), which might be closer to the dark color ones you had in China. The one you had in Shilin Nightmarket was intended to distinguish itself from either. It was named "BBQ Stinky Tofu (on a stick)." It is harder to find those BBQ ones than regular night market stinky tofu (mostly appearing in tourist nightmarket instead of local ones), but I as a native Taiwanese also love them so much!!
Hey Mark, love your videos. Was wondering what camera do you use?
awesome video Mark
your videos are awesome Mark! i wanna do what you do. I'll be traveling to Tokyo and did some research on your Tokyo migrationology page. it's a big help!
so many good looking dishes and he chose the most basic ones lol
that's what i though...lol......but those dishes he picked are very typical taiwanese home made dishes. less stir fry dishes, less saucy, less oily, less salt, more boiled and steam dishes, kind of plain taste.......got its influence from fujian province and Japan.
Love your vlogs
The food looks delicious!
hi . lovely video . I actually wanted to know which camera did you use for this vlog. thanks
