Thank you for showcasing Northern Heights! The statues are actually from a specific stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary level (the Fire Emblem castle one) and were optimized because they're really geometrically complex in the original level. The mountains in the background and the one below the level are heavily edited pre-generated versions that you can make with Blender's A.N.T. landscape addon. Everything else was modeled by me aside from the cannon and item boxes. The textures originate from Hyrule Circuit, Freezeflame Galaxy, Winter Animal Crossing, Palutena's Temple from Smash Bros., Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and some are edited in Photoshop, like the lightning and clouds. There actually are no light maps or shadow maps aside from some vertex colors! And yeah, I'm sad to have my CT creation era come to an end, but I don't have any interest in Mario Kart anymore, and I have to focus a lot on life and university. My future endeavors are to become better at modeling in Blender, join clubs next year, and generally just make the best out of my university life. Thank you for doing these monthly showcases, and although I'm phasing all Mario Kart content out of my life and probably won't watch any more of these, I enjoy your commentary and editing! Keep it up!
Very interesting to see where everything came from and how you approached the track! I guess I looked at the vertex colours and thought it was a lightmap, I might need a more general term for that now. Visual enhancements maybe. Good luck in your uni studies though! I know I haven't opened sketchup at all since I started my first year so I get wanting to phase out ct creation. Appreciate the kind words and explanations 🙏

awesome showcase! I always love seeing monthly CT showcases, as they give a great summary of the sheer quality of modern CTs. I would just like to mention, the saying goes "hit the nail on the head", not "hit the nail on the coffin". nail in the coffin is a different expression that gives the opposite idea from what you were trying to imply lol
Having recently got CTGP myself (took long enough lmao) I gotta say I am loving these videos. Didn’t even know some of these existed! Either way, Northern Heights got accepted into CTGP recently, which I love, and I’m hoping more enter soon!
You know, after seeing the Backrooms, I realized...I don't think there's a single track in Mario Kart that is set entirely within an enclosed space. Even tracks that are centred around some kind of building, like Coconut Mall or the various Bowser's Castles, have sections that are outside. They all have skyboxes. The Backrooms on the other hand is completely within, well, the rooms, and that makes the whole thing even creepier than it already was. It's such a stark contrast to the rest of Mario Kart.
Great showcase, truly an amazing month for CTs! It still amazes me to this day how people voluntarily give up their time to make such amazing works of art for everyone to enjoy

I love the way you are showcasing all of these amazing tracks, you put so much effort and passion into it ! Every time I see one of your videos, I just feel chill cause how smooth they are. I don’t know why but it gets me relaxing haha. Just out of curiosity, do you plan on making a CTGP Ranking for 2022? I personally really enjoyed the 2020 and 2021 ranking videos, and i think many others do too
I won't do a full ranking video at this point probably since I would have had to start the vid already to get it done, but thinking about it, I might be able to do a vid ranking every new ctgp addition and then putting it in the list afterwards
