- What is Materials Testing? Prior to installing material in a structure, quality control testing, called Construction Materials Testing (CMT), occurs in a lab. It is here where compaction, strength and stability are tested to determine a material's viability for projects. We are excited to have such a lab in Coffey's headquarters and to test materials such as cement, mortar, steel, wood, destructive and non-destructive concrete, to list a few. CMT is vital to civil engineering projects, as quality control is a foundational component of safety.
Watch this video to follow Coffey Engineering & Surveying professional engineer, Dru Burr, as he discusses this topic, takes us on a tour of the Materials Testing lab and performs a concrete compression test.

good stuff guyz. love from lab technician Uganda
Wish to work with coffey
Do you have to be a civil engineer to be a CMT technician?
This was really great thanks
This is really cool. I like how you did the dual screen. Civil engineering is a great career field. Nearly every mid-size town or larger will have civil engineers. Dru: How would you test soil with permafrost, like in Alaska?
