Marbles will randomly select which soldiers to spawn. Soldiers will automatically move towards the enemy base and fire at nearby enemies.

Man all those officers really jacked up purples defensive position. Not to mention the opportunity cost of never getting more troops

If you want some trench variety, they were made like a square wave so that the teeth would stop explosions from wiping out the whole lane. Maybe even a bit deeper, as the units in trenches are protected from fire only when out of reach

Magenta attempted a an early Blitzkrieg offensive. And while this allowed them to gain allot of territory, they were unable to form a proper front and their forces were spread thinly.
Cyan was ready for a drawn out war. They were defensive at first. They entrenched, they gathered their forces and formed proper defensive front. And while they were pushed back a few times, they managed to resecure ground and-most importantly-hold the line. They were able to develop, they waited for the perfect opportunity, and once the opportunity arise they attacked unrelentingly.
Magenta, having not prepared a defensive line prior, struggled to hold off the Cyan onslaught and inevitably crumbled to the Cyan offensive.
Since other people are providing recommendations, may I recommend:
Gas Attack: Either as an action or a unit. As an action, it takes 50% of the health of all enemy infantry units (ie, not Tank), but of course the window for this would be really small. As a unit, in releases a cone of gas that deals a lot of damage to all enemy units that step (and stay) in it, and is itself immune to Gas Attack.
Stormtroopers: Gunner units that are immune to Gas Attack
Great idea, fits quite well with what I'm adding at the moment (global abilities)

Cyan General: "Blue was succesful because they spammed the 200 riflemen slot, so we'll spam the 150 riflemen slot TO OBLIVION!"

It would be great if each type of soldier made a sound when firing the weapon so you could create the typical battle sound
Funny that you mention that; when I made my first channel last year I originally only used marble sounds and no music. Only after a few videos did I start using music like everyone else. Maybe it would be cool to use sound effects again. Thanks for the comment!

Edit: I'm certainly loving the new changes, especially the progress indicator, that bar far exceeds satisfactory terms. The extra unit selection also surprised me a lot, just a shame the mortar wasn't used this time, perhaps next time we'll see it
The mortar did make an appearance, he looks like a grenadier but carrying a big grey tube. Stats are just much longer range and splash compared to the grenadier.

I don't actually remember what was the main inspiration... but there are many similar things that likely inspired it. Maybe that stickman trench game?

So what are the officers supposed to do?
I couldn't figure that out either until I saw another commenter explain it. Officers cause the units around them to jump over obstacles and charge the enemy. Without an Officer nearby, troops only charge if the trench they spawn near is already full, or they're a special unit like Gunners, which charge on their own.
