A little bit about us:
Ernesto and Christina met on catholicmatch.com and got engaged 6 months later. Ernesto moved from sunny L.A. to join Christina and her daughter Alyssa in Denver Colorado. They became a family on April 26th, 2008. As Alyssa got ready for college, Ernie & Christina started saving for a house and planning for the future. The way any young couple would. Alyssa moved to Arizona and for awhile everything seemed on track. Then on Christmas day 2010 after midnight mass Christina found a lump in her right breast. She knew right away it was cancer. She was so young (36 at the time) the doctors were not so sure. It was cancer. Triple Negative breast cancer to be exact. She tried ALTERNATIVE treatments for 11 months only to have to tumor return twice and ultimately had to submit to conventional treatments. She did chemo, radiation & surgery. Unfortunately after all that the cancer returned in the summer of 2013. The story doesn't end there though! In the middle of all that Ernie & Christina had a surprise baby. In April of 2013 Christina found out she was seven months pregnant. She had no idea! All the side effects she was having her doctor said was b/c of the cancer treatments. Christina delivered a very healthy miracle baby girl on May 5th 2013. Despite all of the toxic drugs she was exposed to she is fine. Very healthy. Baby Ava has brought light to a dark situation. We hope you will draw inspiration from our story and how we choose to live life to the fullest despite a terminal cancer diagnoses!!

Christina !!! oh my goodness it is a blessing to see your wonderful faces!! I am so glad that you are getting better,and it is OBVIOUS, that you are doing better.You are right Christina the slow and steady turtle wins the race .IN Spanish class last summer we discovered the Spanish word for turtle is "Tortuga" I just love that word.Keep going slow and steady Tortuga.

I'm also receiving chemotherapy and have episodes of nausea; nothing severe but I found that cabbage juice helps me. God bless you Christina and Ernie.

So Happy you're in good spirits Chris :-D I talk to my Sons about you all the time, my Mom & sister know all about you Too because I always have updates and REALLY GREAT INFORMATION in regards to different Health issues that you Share W/Us, that OUR Doctors just never tell us. Very useful information like how fasting puts a lot of stress on the Liver! I don't mean to Fast but have the Very BAD habit of Eating Once-A-Day Or' sometimes I just won't Eat for Up to 3 days just because I forget cause I'm too tired to Eat Or' don't have appetite. Recently my Doctor told me my Liver Enzymes are Very High but I just couldn't think of Why. Thank you for the Updates even though you're not feeling well and again for sharing all your experience with Us. Love your strength, Ernie you're A WONDERFUL PERSON for how loving you are! Hey, Christina Newman AKA inspiration!!!!! First let me introduce myself, my name is Elisha! I'm a single mom to an AMAZING, super smart for his age 4 year old little boy name, Grayson! I was diagnosed in 1999 with Crohn's disease at 19 years old! Devastated because there wasn't a "cure!" But thankful it was something "terminal." I can't relate in the sense of having to "fight" for my life, however I can relate to PAIN & having an illness raising a small child. It's very difficult!!! You do have an amazing husband & father who's an awesome support system. Praise God for that!!! My son dad decided after really not just a typical argument one day when our son was 3 months old, to take my engagement t ring out of my jewelry box & leave while the baby & I slept. For DAYS I tried calling & finally he answered & I asked why he left, wouldn't answer for days & took the ring. He simply said "I'm not happy with you & don't want any responsibilities!" Long story short about my sons father & my disease.... Oh dang I totally forgot to say in the beginning about what happened to me in 2008 speaking of my "GI" & "potassium" issues. If you know anything about Crohn's it causes mostly "diarrhea" ... So in around 8-2-2008 I begin having sever bouts of diarrhea and didn't think much of it, just was getting weaker & weaker & staying in bed up to 20 hours a day, so on 8-8-08 (my birthday) that night all I remembered was waking up having to go pee, I laid to trying to fall back asleep cause I just felt too weak to get up, but not being able to hold it any long I made it to the bathroom, sitting there I just had this overwhelming warming feeling all over my body and tingling . So I stood up, look in the mirror and remember saying myself "geez you look so white and weak!" That's all I recall! 16 days later I was waking up from a coma & my sister crying saying "oh thank-you God your finally awake, I missed those brown eyes!" "Now if you'll just talk back, cuss, fight or want to go smoke, I'll know your really okay and she lol!" Days later doctors explained maybe 1 in 10,000 patients with what caused me to die, then have 5 repeated cardiac arrest live !!! Had my dad not have heard the bang from me hitting / landing to the floor as I was going into cardiac arrest and dying , my brother not starting CPR and the quick actions of the ER doctors that night, I wouldn't be here right now! So God still works MIRACLES!!!! Ten days after waking up from my coma I got my first DVT= deep vein thermbrosis. (I didn't spell that correctly I know, sorry!) and since had had 11 more between both legs! I have a green field filter, in my vena cava to trap the clots from going to my lungs or brain and so I'll always have to be on blood thinners . Thank God for Xarelloto= no monthly blood checkups! Ya!!! I also I a portacath. I haven't seen you ever mentioning having anything like that to have all your chemo's through? I love mine! I hateeeeeD having to get stuck for an IV!
Lol now back to talking to my sons father.... So he said he wasn't happy and didn't want the responsibilities. Don't get me wrong I'd just had the baby, my hormones were JACKED UP especially having the Crohn's, so I wasn't always nice & didn't always want to have sex. And he wasn't use to it not being "all about just him" anymore!" So that was it, he was gone!
But about less than 3 months later I met someone whom I was with a year and 1/2 . He even bought me a brand new SUV, didn't just buy it, but paid cash saying "I want to make sure since you have to make the trips back n forth to the doctors and take the baby places y'all always have a safe way to travel & you never ever have to worry about anything more than insurance!" (Why were not together is a long story) but my sons father came on 8-19-2011 "that was 3 days before his 1 St birthday, spent about 2 hours with him, gave me $100, he left & said he would keep in touch and be back soon. And that's been as of this past August 3 years since he's seen him or even called. All I know is that's he's somewhere in OK! I've had contact with his lying sister, I got deathly ill about a year ago & I was DESPERATE I just wanted Grayson's daddy here to help me . I thought as sick as I am, if his dad was here he could play with him, bath him, watch tv, fix dinner etc and just let me sleep. Etc! I have my parents -thank god- thank god, but their in their 70's and I know they get tired! U know what I mean?
So instead of calling to Check on me and his son, he's running around telling his brother and brothers wife , "I've read about Crohn's and it can kill you, so I'm just waiting for that Bitch to die & then I'll get my son & I'm also not going to send her no damn money for nothing and those child support people can't do anything to me!" So my child support case worked FLIPPED OUT last month when she heard what I had found out what he had been running around saying and she said "I'm about to show him a little something & teach him a little lesson!"
Now..... As for him getting my child if something happens to me (because technically yes, Crohn's due to complications and just the medication "humira" alone has some pretty scary side effects, can take my life) I've found out in the state of Louisiana , that once I wrote my will out stating whom I wanted taking over guardianship of my son and signed it with a witness, sealed the enveloped and signed across that seal it would hold it any court. So he just might be shocked ! So just be thankful you don't have ALL THIS headache to deal with!
One more thing and I'll stop writing my book.... Lol I feel like you now Christina , when you say "I have so much to say, if I keep going this video would be 45 minutes long !" LOL
My sons brother wife just told me 2 months ago why (my sons fathers name is jeffery btw) jeffery was in jail when he was like 14-15 years old (jeffery, told me it was because he was drinking, smoking weed, coming home late/sometimes not at all and fighting w his mom) so his sister n law states that Jeffery for several years MOLESTED his bother (jeffery is the older brother by like 2 years) and threatened to kill him if he told anyone, but the truth as it always does finally came out and jeffery went to jail/lockup for troubled teens for a year & 1/2!!! Also the sister n law claims jeffery molested on one occasion he 3 year old daughter! She told me that jeffery was very sick & very troubled ! She told me his brother said to tell me "thank God that he wasn't around his son, because he would just mess him up!"
I've read some of the peoples very negative comments, it's sad that people want to BLAIM EVERYTHING ON GOD!!! GOD gave us all a brain but sadly some people just don't use it! And it's an EPIDEMIC of Americans on drugs=abusing prescription medications and street drugs! People aren't just dying from cancers,plane crashes and car wrecks. For crying out loud, LOOK AT the PARENTS with BABIES in the back seat (within 2 feet from them) & they simply park, get out of their cars & forget their children? Do we BLAIM that on God too? HELL NO!!!!! AND IM SORRY BUT NO NORMAL PERSON/PARENT could get up in the morning, get dressed, get the baby dressed, put the child in the car leave headed to day care-forget to drop off the child and head to work. This one news I read.... The dad leaves with the baby at 6:15 am going to drop her at day care , but never does drives straight to work, leaves the 4 month old in the car, by 1 pm police estimate temps reached 140 deg inside the car (can u image, just dying like that) so he works all day NEVER ONCES thinks of the baby, gets off work at 7:15 pm text his friends and they meet at the bowling ally - when he opens the back door "OMG OMG my baby-she's dead!" After 13 hours , you just now remembered about her ? And where was the mother ? Now u can't tell me this father & mother weren't on "mind altering" substances . The CRIME, murders, parents killing their OWN children = HAS to be because their drugged out on medications , mostly herion & meth! Read about it people , wake up it's a freaking epidemic!!!!
It's just sad that people like Christina AKA inspiration has to go through so much, when drug heads & just those who don't (excuse my language now) don't give one rats ass about their bodies don't have a care in the world !!! BUT ITLL CATCH UP W YOU!

I PRAY GOD has that "SPECIAL MAN & FATHER" my daddy has always been telling me about who's going to come along and sweep me off my feet and not care that I am sick, but be there when I'm in pain to hold/hug (I love hugs), cuddle with me & oh how nice it would be to have a boyfriend/caring loving someone / partner with me when I go to the hospital. Those little things mean so so much! And a MAN who will LOVE & be a ROLE MODLE/FATHER FIGURE to my son! I don't think I'm asking for too much! Huh?
Anyways. I know you and everyone else is like will she ever end this book? Lol I'm close !
But I have NO friend, no one to open to and talk to! So sorry I kinda poured my heart out a little !

Christina, can you do some of these treatments and infusions at home? You look so good, but I know you're tired and weak. Hang in there, girl, it is getting better. Natasha has been so good bringing food and taking care of you. She is amazing. I'm so glad you have so much support and great friends!
I took those potassium pills some years back because of low pot. It was caused from a stomach upset and I was not eating enough either. It made me pass out when my pot. was low. The potassium supplements will help you, Christine. I guess that surgery to remove the tumor is not an option, you never mentioned that unless I missed it? I'm happy to see you are not needing constant oxygen. Your body wants to heal and is regenerating! :)
Praying and sending out thoughts for your relief from the nausea and extreme pain that you are experiencing. Thank you for having the courage to share your life. It has touched so many people.
For nausea the BEST thing ever is zofran, but most patients know that! 8 mgs & I believe that does can be doubled . And this comes in a dis-solvable (I don't spell "something well , sorry). It'll melt in your mouth lol
Also they make phengran topical gel, that u simply apply to your wrists when your too sick to take a pill.

I bet some of your weakness is due to your low potassium levels. If the potassium powder does not agree with you or you can not take it for some reason - perhaps rehydration fluids (oral) would help? You can buy it in both concentrated and ready to drink varieties from the chemist (drug-store). It is full of potassium citrate and other good electrolytes. It will help re-hydrate you and make you feel much better i am sure. Tastes pretty good too. Slow and steady like a tortoise - if you just sip, sip, sip a little as often as you can - you should soon feel the benefits. I am sure your doctor would approve of this treatment. It is great for settling an upset stomach and nausea too.

I've had a lot of health issues since I was 16, for almost 20 years now. I honestly was not a big believer in prayer or positive thoughts. But you have changed my thoughts about that. You are a true testament in regards to prayer and positive thinking! And I'm sending all my positive thoughts to you!!!
Here's something silly since turtles are you're new mascot. My neighbors have two huge tortoises which they've been trying to breed for awhile. Finally worked and now they have five teeny tiny tortoises! The kids love them. It's fun to watch them care for them. A great mascot you chose!

Stable is good, and turtles are tremendous!!! Who wants to be known as a skiddish little hare, anyway!!! Glad to hear that your are 'slowly and steadily' winning this race, sweetie!! You look to be in less discomfort, related to pain, so I am thrilled that your patches seem to be working well for you. I actually just spoke on the phone to my Mom in Nova Scotia before watching this, and she said to tell you that chewing on candied ginger might also help your nausea. Hypokalemia or low potassium can cause fatigue, muscle weakness and cramping, thirst, nausea or vomiting (a vicious cycle, I know), numbness and tingling, heart palpitations, and irritability so hopefully you will be able to more easily tolerate some of the K+ (potassium) dense foods this week. I am sure you know them, but I bet some of them like baked potatoes ,dried apricots, baked acorn squash, avocados, white beans,etc. and yogurt might taste good to you besides other foods containing potassium instead of bananas! You may also be able to handle coconut water, cocoa powder and dark chocolate (in pudding or hot chocolate), molasses, and pistachios (as well as cashews, almonds, and other nuts and seeds). Even your steel cut oats contain potassium, although not quite as much as what is in a banana. Also never take potassium on an empty stomach. For me anyway, it makes my stomach crap and I get nauseous . If I just really don't want to eat I'll eat at least 4 cracks and a slice of cheese . Just something .

Wow, I was saying SO MUCH that I didn't even saying pacifically what caused me to have the 5 cardiac arrest . My potassium dropped to a 1.2
Normal ranged is 3.5 - 4.2 I believe . So yes, mine EQUALED DEAD! And the DEVIL TRIED taking me not once but FIVE times ! God has his angels all around me that night . And the dream I had while I was in a coma and the lady I talked to during those dreams . When I woke up, my nurse was the lady I had been talking with all those times in my dreams . It's was all so unreal!
