In Vienna, the tram, also known as "Tramway" or "Bim" in Viennese, has long been a dominant feature of the cityscape of the Austrian capital. Since the electrification in 1987, the tram has become an indispensable part of the traffic scene. Today, the Vienna tram is operated by the Wiener Linien and is the fifth largest tram network in the world with more than 500 tram trains and currently 28 lines.
    About the Vienna Depot-
Vienna Favoriten tram depot is the main depot in the southern sector of Vienna's tramway operations. The depot is very steeped in history and is almost 150 years old already. It was built in 1873, when the World Exhibition was held in Vienna. Since 1899 it has been used as a purely electric tram station. The station area consist of five halls, although Hall 5 was so badly destroyed by bombing in 1945, that the roof structure had to be removed and the vehicles on the intact tracks have since been parked there in the open air.
The Wien Favoriten depot is located in Vienna's 10th district and serves numerous tram lines. Line 1, for example, is also served from this depot and the line connection is directly via Siccardsburggasse / Leebgasse via Quellenstraße.
In addition to the parking facilities, there is also a modern washing station at the site, which can be used in TramSim.
    About the ULF-
The ULF (short for Ultra-Low-Floor) is the first generation of low-floor trams in Vienna's tram network and has been in operation since 1995. The special features of this vehicle type are the unique design of the vehicle with axle-free bogies and one of the lowest boarding heights worldwide for tram vehicles.
The low-floor articulated railcars are used in two different vehicle lengths. They are called "ULF-A" in the short version with 5 sections and "ULF-B" in the long version with 7 sections.
The running gear arrangement of both "ULF types" consists of pairs of independent wheels with independent suspension, which form a unit in a so-called running or drive portal (LP or AP). Together with the front, passenger and rear modules, these gantries form the respective vehicle type.
