- My top 3 TIPS for younger looking skin. My skin looked worse in my early 40s, compared to how much more hydrated, and glowy it looks now (age 48). Hydrated skin also plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and I need all the help I can get in that area ;)
Taking care of your skin, and knowing the products that will help you target your skin issues or concerns are an essential part of any skincare routine.

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone suggest that using petroleum jelly on your face is a good idea. I have done this for years. I seldom do anything else to my face at night except wash it and then use Vaseline. When I tell anyone, I get horrified looks and then admonishments that I shouldn't use the stuff on my face. Then they guess my age around 50. I'm over 70. Vaseline is great for preventing the loss of moisture overnight especially during the winter when the inside air can be quite dry. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks so much for sharing your story! Vaseline forms a great occlusive layer to prevent trans epidermal water loss. When I use it, I am sure to apply a thin layer to a clean, dry face - otherwise if used improperly - it could trap dirt, oil, debris into your skin and we don't want that!
Have a great week :)
Thank you and I’m excited to try some of these products💜
Thank you so much!! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts 🥰🥰
You’re beautiful and your skin looks amazing thank you for sharing 🙏🏽
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful week 💛
Love your videos and upbeat presentation! 🌹🥰❤️
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful week ahead
Not to be rude, but you are comparing your previous bare skin photo with how you look now wearing makeup, with nice lighting and (probably) filters. Doesn't seem like a fair comparison.
I hear you completely - my socials (IG/TikTok and here on CZcams) are full of my "real skin" with no makeup/filters etc. I think it is important to show. I still have redness, imperfections, and of course the signs of aging - but my skin has drastically improved since then. It isn't even just about "looking" better - my skin is far healthier now than it was back then.
Don't forget the ring light on videos
Just my opinion, but it seems like you may have missed the point of the video; a proper skincare routine vs no routine can help “reverse” almost a decade of aging. The picture comparison is just to emphasize this. I don’t feel there was any bait n switch or click bait here, just an effective visual to make a point.
@@jackburton2492 Yeah but if you put layers of foundation on your skin, how do we know if the skincare was actually able to remove the sun damage and hyperpigmentation or not?
Thank you for your informative video, I too have the same skin type as you and encountered many problems with persistent redness. However, I started using different oils on my skin most notably jojoba and oils from Ella Bache. As an alternative to Vaseline, you could use any of the moisturisers Ella Bache has that have lanolin in them, great for winter and for retaining moisture in the skin. We are just about to go into winter here in Australia and in combination with retinol it has improved my complexion remarkably. Thank you again for your tips, you are correct about gently exfoliating the face, it really does work. All the best from WA.
Thanks so much for sharing your perspective and recommendations!!
Hi!!! Thanks for a great video!! When using an exfoliating serum (wich is the mildest?)...do you put the serum right after cleasing...or after other serums?? Would love a review of Bifida!!! Thanks❤❤❤❤❤
When I exfoliate - I apply it to dry skin after cleansing, and then proceed with the rest of my skincare routine :). Have a wonderful week!
Chemical exfoliation can be extremely tricky for sensitive Rosacea prone skin. The natural skin turnover is about 45 days. We are impatient about not wanting to wait for our skin to do what it does naturally. Unfortunately, there can be consequences. I would encourage people with problem skin to avoid most actives. Azaleic Acid will be your best, safest bet. If you feel you must use an active, use a salicylic acid wash. I would also suggest using a moisturizer that includes hyaluronic acid with a larger molecule. Vanicream products are basic a beautiful. My routine is Vanicream cleanser, Azaleic Acid and SPF in the am. Keep is simple. Remember, Rosacea suffers, like myself, already have an impaired skin barrier.
Excellent points! Thank you so much for sharing your perspective :)
Awesome!😊😊
Thank you
Ohhh I just recently got this cereve exfoliating serum but haven’t used it yet. I normally do a 10% lactic acid a few times a week but am not used to glycolic so wanted to try it. Another thing that has me curious is why use a 5 HA serum? Especially if everything seems to already have it? Dang those Canadian prices are steep!!❤
I started my exfoliation journey with mandelic, then lactic (which I still love to this day), and lower strength glycolic when blended like this one - seems to work great for me too. Probably because my skin has more tolerance, and my skin barrier is in better shape than it was! Yes - steep prices !! I don't always use an HA serum because it is already in so many other products - but I do like them in my summer routine :)
Just found your channel! Greetings from England xx
Hello & welcome!! 🥰🥰
I've tried so many anti-aging products, but DermalMD Anti Aging Serum is by far the most effective.
Thanks so much for sharing! I will check it out :)
Hi:) thank you for the in-depth video, can I ask, I’m 35, my skin has totally changed, aging seems to have crept up on me! Can you recommend what to do when every retinol I’ve tried dries my already dehydrated skin out even more?? Thanks so much:)
So sorry to hear it - I know we all want to leverage the amazing benefits of retinol, but there are some cases where it is more difficult. Have you tried the sandwich method of applying retinol?
Retinol sandwich method: czcams.com/users/shortsOT3FRS1NESw
@@ChristaEvelyn thank you I’ve just seen that and i actually have that aveeno cream, can you use a serum underneath the cream as well. Thanks so much:)
I could never use retinol without a disaster until last year. I started using the ROC retinol pods twice a week, but before I put it on at night, I did my regular skincare, serums and moisturizer. Then later after my face was totally dry, I put on the retinol, more moisturizer, then went to bed. Putting product on wet skin ensures it sinks much deeper; so putting it on dry skin keeps it at the layer it needs to be at without penetrating too far. ROC is highly recommended and great for sensitive skin. After a few weeks, going to every other day use, my skin was glowing and smooth. I still get hormonal breakouts here and there, so I'm using differin gel now. Once my skin is used to that daily, I'll switch to tretinoin. It's a journey!
@@MentallyBeautifulVlogs Yes definitely!
@@threearrows2248 Thank you so much for sharing your story! I agree - ROC is fabulous :)
Please could you help with ..broken capillaries on my cheeks.have you got a recommendation to use for exfoliation xx
I think topical skincare can only take them so far (I have them around my nose). Regular exfoliation, and also retinoids I think have "helped" mine, but to really go to the next step - I think laser treatment is really the only known treatment to really eliminate them.
@@ChristaEvelyn thankyou..what would you say to use for the exfoliation x
@@paulam6182 If you have never used an acid exfoliation before, then mandelic acid is really lovely to start with. The Ordinary has a great one- and a great price point :)
IPL is about the only thing that permanently gets rid of broken capillaries.
Just came across your videos. Are these serums good for sensitive skin?
Everything I have highlighted in the video works on my sensitive/rosacea-prone skin. Of course it goes without saying that everyone's skin is different, but at least this has been my experience. The hardest thing for me to do is introduce my serums slowly. I get all excited with new products, and want them all on my face immediately - and then usually end up regretting it! So the best advice for me has been to introduce products slowly, and that way if you have irritation - you know it is that particular serum :)
When i use vichys hyalornic acid i break out immediately. What other product should i use instead
So sorry to hear it - have you tried any of the other serums I highlighted in the video? You may have a sensitivity to hyaluronic acid, or it might just be Vichy's formulation?
Is that Clinical Vitamin A from Niche that I saw in this video? I almost bought this product, but wavered based on never having heard influencer feedback regarding this brand. Please, do tell!
I LOVE it! They sent me a few products, and I have also tried their vitamin c, peptide serum, and azelaic acid - and have been really impressed!
@@ChristaEvelyn thank you for this info. I've been quite curious about the vitamin C from the brand too; I'm glad to hear it's been a good experience for you. I'll give both products a try!
@@zippyzebra7291 Let us know what you think!
Can you mix the cerave overnight, with retinol?
They have a few products in their "overnight" line - do you mean the exfoliating treatment with retinol? If that is the question, I would say no. Combining two high strength actives in the same routine increases the propensity for irritation. I would keep them in separate routines :)
I'm 41 and being Eurasian, have a very full-on skincare routine. It really pays off. I think you might benefit from some CO2 laser around your eye area IMHO. It will really refresh/resurface your eye area and tighten it. Xeomin/Botox is also good once/twice a year to stop crows feet and expression lines deepening with age.
Thanks so much! I may consider options like that in the future, for now it is skincare and devices - but I am always open for anything :)
Bonjour vous avez fait des laser ? Merci
Je n'ai pas fait de traitement au laser, mais j'aimerais bien le faire à l'avenir, surtout pour mes vaisseaux sanguins endommagés.
@@ChristaEvelyn ok merci
the Dr Loretta looks like its Polyglutamic acid?
It isn't polyglutamic acid, but has antioxidants in it plus loads of emollient ingredients :)
In your dreams 😂
🤣
Way too many products
Thanks for your perspective!
So in conclusion... Vanity costs a boat load of money AND a ton of chemicals. No thanks 👍
