The one you thought looked like Bilawal is Zain Ali I believe. He sang Thagiyaan with his brother Zohaib Ali and Quratulain Baloch in the latest Coke Studio season. He and his brother are from a qawwali gharana I think.

I dont know why but I like this version much more than original. They have really enhanced this qawali

@@WritingRahul Actually there are many references from stories of Prophets which couldn't be explained here. There are many layers to these lyrics. Each couplet tells a different story that s why it doesn't have one background. But you can search it one by one on google you will find something.
      1. Tale of Prophet Ibrahim (here referred as Khalil ) and Namrud
      2. Tale of Prophet Yusuf referred as Mah e Cinan and Shah e Misr
      3. Reference of Shab e Mairaj Of Prophet Muhammad
      4. Mention of Prophet Isa known as Jesus here referred as Messiah
      5. Mention of Toor which is a mountain in Sina Valley. It is the reference of Prophet Musa
Others are mentions of folk stories of Sindh ( Sassi ) and Punjab ( Heer, Sohni) and one is from Arab i.e; Laila Majnu

This Gorakh Dhanda version belonged to Asfar Hussain, he made this rendition epic towards the end.
Speaking of collaborations, in my humble opinion there's no greater collaboration than the one between Muzaffar Ali and Abida Parween, the result was the timeless album ‘Raqs e Bismil'. Do listen to it.

So true!!! I heard the song in the afternoon today and can still hear him singing the last bit of the song!
Thanks, will give it a listen.
(And talking of collabs, have u heard the album that was done in collaboration with Musarrat and Mohinder Singh? That's my biggest guilty pleasure!)

@@WritingRahul I think you're referring to the one that featured Mussarat Nazir, well that was a few years before I was born and at that time during late 80s Nazia-Zohaib and Vitals Signs were a rage, so I never got the chance to listen to that album although I did listen to many of her Punjabi folk songs from 80s while growing up. I believe this was among her come back albums after more than decade long hiatus Mussarat Nazir is still alive and I think she lives in Canada with her kids and grandkids.
As for Raqs e Bismil, it's a Sufi album produced by Umrao Jan Ada famed Indian filmaker Muzaffar Ali. It came back almost 2 decades ago and one of its famous songs are ‘Yaar ko humne ja ba ja dekha'. Beautifully done album by MA.
