Thank you so much for this review. I didn’t see many reviews for this one. Yours and I think one other person and that’s it. I was always curious about this game since it’s debut, and I’ll be honest what got me hooked at first was the train that plays a role in this game to a degree, I enjoy trains lots. Haha. But as I dove into this game more and more it just seems fascinating to experience, plus lots to do. Characters, tasks to complete, gathering materials, farming, and combat. I couldn’t be happier to hear that this game is a home run.
The train was one of the first things that caught my eye too! Having it run through the town randomly is awesome! I even accidentally got hit by it once as I was riding my horse hahah

Finished the game on PS5 today. What a wild story, but enjoyed the time playing. Some glitches and had a crashing bug while trying to build on the house but quick saves made it tolerable. Would definitely recommend. And Nia is best for romance imo

I'm so torn between Nia and grace, both who won't even look at you till later in the game. Meanwhile Heidi asked me out with out even trying because I kept doing all her commissions cuz they paid the best lol.
I’m really loving this game. I had never played Portia, but heard it was great. So I thought I’d try this. It’s indeed grindy. Sometimes I feel like I’m wasting time if all I did that day was grab resources 😅. But it’s been fun learning what makes what and how to get what I need.

I’m going to get this game this year because I watched a cutscenes of confession event in this game with doctor fang & the player on CZcams twice now & my heart was broken for seeing doctor fang actually cry & i feel extremely feel bad for him & he was feeling so sad because his mother passed away when he was a little kid & i know how that feel because my grandma passed away last year on Sunday November 26 2023 & it was very hard for me right now & i know deep in my heart that my grandma & fang mother are now in heaven watching over me & fang in our heart & in heaven no matter what & I will let doctor fang know that he is not alone anymore because he have me & x & everyone in sandrock are there for him right by his side no matter what🥰
Great game, but some things are missing compared to the PC version.
Like 20 romance quest, factory/greenhouse, child system, new dungeon and items. This will be released around Christmas.
Multiplayer will come to consoles much later - summer 2024.
Last-gen consoles and Switch have some building restrictions. Only 20 spaces for plants, only 3 rooms to build and item limit for placeable items.
PS5 and XB SX should not have these limitations, but they do - that's a bug. Another bug is the switched quality and performance mode.
Btw, you can access the farming mode via the shortcut menu (press and hold LB).

Thanks for your review! I really enjoyed Portia, so I was really looking forward to this one! I'm just not one for real-time combat. I avoided it as much as I could in Portia, but it seems like it has a larger role in Sandrock. Are there any settings or certain weapons to make combat easier?
Yeah it seems more and more that farming games overall always have some sort of combat.
You can now use guns which makes it much easier - although bullets can be tricky/expensive to come by. There’s no difficulty setting but some other options like aim assist. But overall I didn’t find it difficult, there’s usually other characters with you for boss fights that can do most of the work if needed
@@LamoReviews Thanks for the rundown! Sounds like it might not be too bad. But yeah, I just wish combat wasn't included in farming games. Takes the coziness out of it for me.

After playing and absolutely hating Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, I pretty much swore off of any new farming sims (back to you Stardew Valley for now). A few years later I then learned of and got My Time at Portia and then I was hooked again. I'm still playing Portia (as well as Stardew and now Story of Season's Mineral + Olive Town) but I am really looking forward to Sandrock despite if there are any issues still present. Thanks for your review as it has really been helpful
If you like Portia than you’ll LOVE sandrock. It’s better in almost every way (minus farming and mining for me).

I haven't gotten far in this. The PS5 version's load times are immensely improved over My Time at Portia's.

I can’t wait for you to play it, it’s so good! And from memory the only timed tasks are the commissions, but I found them much easier to do in this game than in Portia

Not sure why you feel like mining is a grind? It is roughly the same as in MTAP but now has "ore rocks" or whatever they are called too. So far I haven't had any issues at all finding the resources needed. The game starts off a bit slow and limits you in where to go. To me that is a bit annoying, but eventually the whole world will open up to you and you can find all the resources you need if you remember where they can be found.
I agree with the farming mechanics. They are a bit clunky and can definitely improve. They use a "grid" system but then don' t let your tools make smart use of that grid system. A bit strange but probably easy to patch.
What I like most about this game is the fact that it is not fully focused on farming like many other sims like this. The exploring, building and story take up much more of my time. Farming is basically just a side thingy I sometimes do so I can make food for stamina. The limited water actually adds a nice challenge to it if you ask me. If you're smart, you will have plenty of water.
The combat system is also a bit hit or miss for me. When the auto lock system works nice... when it works. That is to say it doesn't always work for some odd reason. When shooting a gun there is no form of auto aim at all which is definitely rough.
All in all a fantastic game indeed!

Performance on playstation 5 is terrible given that this is not ultra super graphically demanding game. Quality mode is terrible. Frame drops and stutters everywhere, especially with vert sync enabled. I had to play in performance without sync on in order not to throw my controller. They need to fix this, its embaressing.
That’s a shame, hopefully an update will come out for that in the next few days

Bought the game on xbox one do not buy this if you have a xbox one its a laggy mess i feel ripped off
Have it for Xbox one, it'll launch but as soon as the first loading screen pops up it keeps crashing, annoying asf!

I already own on PC, but my PC is a poorly aging pile of poo, sadly, so ... I have a series S and PS5, and am VERY tempted to get this game for one or the other.
@@seamarie3111been playing on series s for around 80 hours now and haven’t crashed or anything once. A few bugs, but easily fixed by just reloading the save.
Just play on performance mode instead of quality.
@@vidicul9109 I have it now and it's been an absolute blast! Compared to my PC, it runs like an absolute dream! I've not noticed any stuttering, and the load screens are next to non-existant. Most of the time the load image doesn't even have time to pop up.
This is probably the first game I've actually invested in restarting on another platform and not been bored because I did so much of this before. It's awesome!
