Hi, The lighting looks good but the price is too expensive for me.
@@merlost1624 Aqua Illumination
I have the Ai Coral Grow. The low profile stand makes me want for my freshwater tanks as well. Its nice to see the light just blend away and go for the minimal style. Reminds me a lot of the chihros wrgb slim at a similar price point.
I have one, I prefer the mobius app. More features there.
Twinstar B (and C if discounted) plus Chihiros A series are kings of low tech lights. If you are not planning to use CO2 they will grow all the low demand and easy plants. I need to admit this light looks interesting lets see how it will grow plants in your aquarium. To be honest it is the first time I heard about AquaIllumination brand. You gotta love the fact that you need to buy additional things separately, thats my favourite thing...
Twinstar is very fine but it's not waterproof.
You don't need to buy additional things. It comes with the low profile brackets. Kudos to AI that they give you the option of multiple mounting options granting you the flexibility but most people are just fine with the low profile brackets. It also helps if you aren't using this light on a nano tank.
The ai prime freshwater and blade are amazing lights !! The blade looks more natural
AI lights have been around for a very long time mostly saltwater reef and refugium lights, in recent years they've ventured into more planted tank lights. That being said, I have not tried any of their planted tank lights but AI in general is mid range in regards to price point for lighting on the reef side. A lot of the smaller units are considered most affordable bang for you buck for reef tanks. In comparison, I believe their freshwater range of lights are on the expensive side for what you get considering other brands with similar functionality.
AI are better than kessil. Kessil is quieter though
Can you make how much Twinstar/ Chihiros / Aquailuminaton gives PAR per Watts ? With new EU electric costs it’s nice to know 😅
Thank u! You were the only way I was able to figure out how to set up my light with the app, their directions were worthless and I couldn’t find anything online about this light except your review. I was so frustrated! So Thank u!
My one complaint would be the black cable. They tend to stick out more compared to white.
lol, what we old school aquascaper do is conduit it ourself
Almost 100k! Much love MJ!
So close!
Your videos are so nice for watching like Charl's Diken's stories for listening, keep going that way and big thank you from Serbia.
The MyAi app also controls AI return pumps and powerheads so the feed mode works great syncing those up with the lights when its time to feed the fishes
I like the lifted up setting, there should be one more led in the center to cover more lengh, but the app controle is really cool for this price.
The color of the lights are natural at all.
❤️
Nice looking light. It seems to give off really good lighting.
I purchased the light. Can confirm the rubber on your light just got pushed - mine was smooth sailing when i extended the low profile bracket arms. On larger models the low brackets don't cover much of the heat sink at all, its just you choose the smallest light for a nano tank so you are having that issue. The brackets will extend up to 4.5 inches on both sides. So if you are planning to use this on a normal size tank, there should be no heating issues.
I have used a lot of AI stuff on my reef tanks so excited to give this light a go!
Thanks MJ, I did a quick search and most places here in the US didn’t have stock yet. Tons of saltwater versions were available though. The app program for setting on/off looks really simple 👍🏼.
Let's see if the freshwater versions become available soon
Just the fact that the blade is able to be ran on mobius is awsome it makes it so easy having most my equipment on the app. Ill be getting the 12inch blade coral grow for my pico reef. The price may be high for some but theres a saying "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" it worth it IMO cant complain when i saved up for the ecotech radions xr15. After dealing with high end lights its kind of hard to go back to lower end lights.
Sleek design. Thank you for honest review.
Hi, do the lights flicker when filming in slow motion? 240 fps
I’m curious of using the reef tank versions of these. But they’re kind of ugly? I don’t know why they have all that plastic on the heat sink. I prefer the chihiros and ledstar in both looks and performance. Thanks for the review!
Edit: I think I may have been too harsh. The light itself looks cool in its own way. I just wish the metal legs inserted directly into the light and there was no plastic on the heatsink. Maybe the natural look would grow on me over time? Curious to see what the long-term results are!
Thanks for reviewing this. I’m looking at picking one up for my 5 foot discus tank build. Coming back to freshwater from saltwater, AI lights are really durable. I’m going to suspend it within a hood. Curious to see if one will be enough for a 5x2x2 tank since the lenses seem to provide good spread.
Hi, cool unboxing that I missed, shame on me! You could give a try to AI HD freshwater led spot, the naturel look will interest you, and this is same manufacturer / build quality / app.
Really hesitating to test small blade in addition to 2 spots per tank we have..
Regarding other led fresh water lightning, do you know led ranking from AquaOwner? I can't put any link in this comment otherwise it will be removed..
Also, Chihiros WRGB are not real W whereas this blade is double W, cold and warm. Extra R and B nicely popup colors.
Great light unboxing 👍🏻
I have the hydra on my new 60 gallon cube. 24x24x24 haven’t turned it on yet but I hope the corals love it
I've had the AI Prime freshwater for a few months now and I really enjoy it. The app is really great and offers extreme customizability. The Prime is a little overpriced, maybe the Blade hits a sweet spot between price and performance.
Twinstar b-line is in my opinion the best option, great light and very cheap. Been using twice the 60b (2 aquariums), i dont get as much evaporation as i get with other lights but they do get hot af. Ai is a great option but why buy a 115 euro light when u can get a good one for 60 euro.
Tolles Video. Danke sehr.
This light looks nice another you might check out. That I’ve been using is Fluval plant 3.0
Amazing light
Fluval lights definitely have app control. Also you still spraying them pants on huh?
Ah yeah Fluval! Never tried those lights. And Of course! Always ;)
@@MJAquascaping oh I love my fluval lights, the 48 inch lights can be pretty pricey. The plant 3.0 in particular have been a game changer going from the aquasky 2.0, which in itself is a great light and I have been able to get carpets in 12 in or less shallow tanks
@@MJAquascaping I love the Fluval Nano's on my tanks and the app is so good if you want to get technical on the settings.
Love the Fluval light apps. But Fluval light have fallen behind the competitors in terms of design and power.
@@Getz6471 yes I 100% agree that the design esthetics is lacking nowadays but I'd beg to differ in terms of power. I find I have to dial my plant 3.0 tanks down quite a bit or algea takes a foot hold even in established heavily planted tanks
Nice light, thank you. I have a Twinstar III 300C and I quite happy with it. But perhaps for a another Tank... A betta Tank?...
Hey MJ, another great upload! I’m having issues with my nano tank. It’s a 2.5 gallon with a DIY CO2. And got a lot of plants similar to your red plant/red shrimp aquascape. I’m having a hard time keeping chili rasboras and I have a HUGE algae outbreak of brown algae and stag horn algae. The tank has been running for 3 months now and it still keeps coming back. Also doing the lean dosing method. Any suggestions?
That's strange... brown algae shouldn't really be appearing after 3 months.... have you checked your water paranters? Staghorn could be low Co2 or issues with flow and buildup of waste organics
I love my AI lights on my reef tank.
Another great post from MJA! Great content, production and presentation as always. MJ: I have a 7yr old and 3yr old in the house but I want to get them interested in the aquarium world. I worry about the 3yr old. What is a good size to start with do you think? I worry about something too heavy, or that can be tipped over easily by the three year old (despite conscientious parental supervision). Any help you can send my way would be most welcome. Sorry for the bizarre question! Cheers.
No way to buy it instead of Twinstar or Chihiros…
I'm very curious about Al Blade for saltwater aquarium and i didn't know what they did freshwater light.
Looks good !
I’ve got a pair of the fresh water hydras on my planted 850l ,AI lights are awesome but the app is an absolute nightmare to set up it definitely wasn’t as easy as you made it look when I did it 😂
Did I get that right, that the LEDs have only this 3 colors: Blue, Red, White?
cool white, warm white, blue and red
Looks fancy i need one under my kitchen cabinet. Just being funny. Looks fancy
Please tell me what's the music name in the video "500 DAYS TRANSFORMATION - Nano Aquascape Timelapse"? I loved it!
Nice light but for that price, i'm still doing towards a chihiros wrgb, doesn't look that great in therm of quality ?
Nice video tho :)
You need to get sponsored by CK. You really like their clothing don't you. Besides, you really have a lot of model-like features. So I hope one day they consider you bro :) :)
At least on camera the colors of the Blade looks much better than the Chihiros IMO, I've never heard of Aqua Illumination but if the fixture is a little cheaper and available in Canada I would be on the look out for one.
I know this an older post, but i currently have an AI blade and the color rendition and definition is not that good. The plants especially look washed out and dull in person. They don’t have any green LED’s so it doesnt make them pop. It makes the tank look hazy and fuzzy. Not a fan
Odd they didn’t include some green LEDs
It all depends on your electicity bill :) and what do the cats think :)
Hey MJ! Any tips for a decent aquarium builder in the south of the Netherlands?
I want a 60 x 50 x 50 aquarium build.
www.aqualife-aquarium.com/
Thank you!
800 pound jeez
I quite like the design on this one.
Though the plastic covering mount you showed first is not the best idea for long term use It will probably wear out the LEDs and their connectors.
How will it wear out the connectors? The LEDs are shielded behind glass. The mount slides overtop and is a non issue if you get a light that isn't for a nano tank - I have the 21.1 inch - extended to the full 4.5inches for the bracket and they are nowhere near the LEDs
I like that company
I bought the 30 inch version of this light and my rubber band broke when I was adjusting the length.
If you don't use the app does that light flash the entire time?
Could be yeah, it stopped flashing after I connected it to the app
I think there are way better lighting options for the price.
Yes theres cheaper options but they lack some features that more high end lights offer. aquailluminations quality is similar or same as ecotech both companies mainly focus on saltwater and have full control ability on an app called mobius which is awsome. The price may be a bit high for some but theres that saying, "you get what you pay for" IMO for that price its decent cus i sent a lil bit over 500 for my ecotech radions xr15 for my reef tank and its so damn worth the money cus my corals are flourishing and growing like weeds. Im looking forward to buying the blade for my 3gallon pico. Good thing about mobius app and equipment that runs off mobius is everything is right there, i have my mp10 circulation pump, my radions and return pump all on one app which is extremely easy to use. Like i said im saving up for the blade for my pico
Check out the Fluval plant 3.0 very similar to this light with app control. Good light
@@shanephillips4621 ai blade has better output than the fluval
where's the fish?
👍👍👍❤❤❤

Using AI is just like having iphone....
Their apps are the best compare to other brand
probably the ugliest light I've seen , hard pass.
