Uncovering the Hidden Gems of Shravanabelagola: Our Thrilling Bangalore Travel Vlog

- Shravanabelagola, located at a distance of about 145 km from Bangalore, is one of the oldest and most important Jain pilgrimages across India. At 157 feet, the iconic Gommateshwara Bahubali statue is the tallest monolithic granite statue in the world.
I visited the hill and the temple recently with my friend Vikram Tej as we both had wanted to go here for years and absolutely loved it. The day started at 5.30am when he picked me up from home and we were back in Bangalore by late afternoon.
There's a lot to do on the site, and I would easily recommend a full day here. Also one has to climb the steps barefoot so be prepared especially on a hot day.
Every twelve years, there's a major festival here - Mahamastakabhisheka of the statue. It's a busy time to go, but would be certainly worth the experience.
