    I was just 2 when Sir Stanley retired from football. I didn't know him but would have loved to have met this Gentleman and True Great of the beautiful game.

    during the War World War II father played for the selection of Alexandria Egypt the British Armed Forces team game to play an exhibition match in Alexandria who are the Greek government was running Greece in Exile by the Nazis 4 years the British players all came on the turf and the stadiums full of British soldiers when the last two players came on the field so the stadium exploded my dad did not realize you were the last two players the second to the last was Tommy Walton and the last player to walk on the field was Sir Stanley Matthews the Troop said that that was Sir Stanley Matthews and he had been flown in as a surprise to bring up the morale of the troops fighting in the war well they got their money's worth the British forces team beat the selection of Alexandria pretty pretty badly I don't remember the exact score but anyway the stadium was absolutely amazed about he could take the ball and the ball would stick to his feet like it was on a rubber band the bowl you could not separated from his feet anyway he is the greatest thing to ever live at that time the British were undefeated no one ever be written until the hungarians came and in 1953 the hungarians destroyed everybody the hungarians speak England 6-3 and Wembley and then invited the English to come to Hungary just to make sure that they realized what was happening that it was reality and the game ended 7-1 sir Stanley Matthews was a great player not only because he was The Wizard of Jubilee but because he was a gentleman he was an absolute wizard at dribbling soccer ball but he was also a gentleman good day
