Normal people hike to an alpine lake. Adam & Elise hike to 10....Awesome guys.
Thanks Jerry! We actually think you would really dig this one. It's similar steepness difficulty level to Wilson Mountain, just longer. But worth it because with your phenomenal camerawork, you could make a freakin' masterpiece in this place!
Did most of this hike this past weekend - the scenery was even better than hoped for. It was certainly a grueling hike - I logged 15+ miles. I saved Donkey and Midnight Lakes for next time :) I think my favorite was Moonlight Lake - the color of the water was incredible. Thanks for providing the inspiration. :)
That's awesome, Tom -- you just totally sparked that wonderful memory for both of us of the color of Moonlight Lake! What a place. Really happy that you did this -- as you now know it's pretty much non-stop joy, with but with just enough effort to feel like you've really earned it. Basically, the perfect hike! ❤️
Doing your own filming and great edits, doing your own music, great physical adventures of endurance and of course you're already legendary positivity and the cultural enrichment of the odd literary reference or poem. What's not to like?
Well those very kind and encouraging words really just made our evening. Thank you very much!
I think Dingleberry was the prettiest, but I'm sure they were all gorgeous in person, what a fun video, I bet that water was cold 🥶😄
You are right about both! They were all beautiful in person, and Dingleberry was particularly nice with the way it was framed into the craggy mountains and trees. And the water was definitely cold, and got even colder the higher up we went. By the time we got to Hungry Packer lake at over 11,000 ft, it was freezing!!
Well, it's like watching two kids sneak into my local playground (as I lived in Bishop for 8 years and the three trailheads of Bishop Creek were all a three-season exploration smorgasbord) and have a blast. I had a photograph of Blue Lake as my MacBook's lock screen the entire time I was there. Sheepishly, I never did that planned backpack trip to explore all the lakes in that basin, so this was a real eye-opener for me. My favorite was Moonlight Lake because of the glacier flour water and the wild mountainous skyline. But my favorite "take me away" moment was watching Elise run-up to Hungry Packer Lake from Topsy Turvy Lake and realizing, hey, I know that song - it's Elise singing to me again.
Haha that is so awesome you were there for 8 years!! We are seriously considering buying or renting a place in Bishop eventually, because we are more happy in that area than pretty much anywhere else in the world. For us it's just a Mecca of unending exploration -- or as you say, a smorgasbord. And Adam totally agrees with you about Moonlight Lake -- it's the combo of color and skyline for sure.❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Galen Rowell called Bishop the prettiest place on Earth and he has literally been everywhere his camera could find at the end of a climbing rope. My wife finally got me there by dragging my ass into a real estate office in Bishop where John Martindale made it happen.
My favorite lake? All of them! Beautiful place!
It really is. We want to go back this summer for a camping trip up there to just really soak it in. ❤️
My favorites were Midnight Lake and Moonlight Lake, but they all were soooo gorgeous!! What an amazing adventure! 😍
Thanks Katrina! Adam totally agrees -- those were his favorites too. But then we also realized that we did the top 3 later in the day when there was more sun, so the lower ones might have been even MORE beautiful if they'd had full light on them! Oh well, it's probably a good thing -- our eyeballs couldn't have handled any more beauty!
Missed your inspiring videos . Been too busy . Your videos are like watching a fairy world that doesn’t belong to this world but is accessible .
Aw thank you Caris. We always appreciate your lovely comments and hope to keep bringing you along to these magical worlds with us! Hope you are well ❤️
Oh and it has to be Hungry Packer....but jees they're all stunningly stunning!!
They really are all stunning, but Hungry Packer is a great choice and also Elise's pick. It's neck and neck right now between Moonlight and Hungry Packer!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I almost said Moonlight at first, but after watching again Hungry Packer stole it for me!
This hike was so awesome that I had to return for a second viewing!!
Have a great weekend and safe travels!
Right on, Alan! We're in Yosemite gearing up for a huge snowshoe adventure tomorrow -- if it goes well it will def be an excellent weekend. Hope you have a great weekend too! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Hi Adam and Elise! Wow...that sounds incredible!! I just returned from a work trip to Phoenix, so am relaxing today (aside from a few short adventures outside for my dog).
I hope you two have a really awesome time there in Yosemite! Can't wait to see and hear about it! We have finally shifted down to low avalanche threats here in the San Juan Mountains.
Safe adventuring!
The positivity and feel-good vibes from you two is heart warming.
I found out some not-so good news today and the warm feelings are so welcomed.
Jordan we're so sorry to hear that you got bad news today, and delighted if our adventures can do anything at all to help you through it. Sending you hugs -- A&E. ❤️❤️
OMG, you guys have shown me more beauty in one hike than I have seen in a lifetime. My new favorite trip!!!!
Thanks Robert! So glad you liked this one, and we agree with you on the beauty factor. In terms of how many gorgeous vistas we saw in just 20 miles, it's definitely one of the top two or three prettiest hikes we've done.❤️
Such beautiful blue water!
It really was, Kate! The camera can't even really do justice to it, but if you like gorgeous colors and pristine lakes this hike is pretty much a must!
The whole route and all the lakes were beautiful! However, I think Moonlight Lake wins for me; that color of the water!!!
Yeah, it is a REALLY tough call. Adam was definitely swayed by the color of Moonlight (I mean, anything that brings out poetry has got to take the prize for him), but I'm just sliiiightly more partial to Hungry Packer. But ask me in two days I will probably have changed my mind again 😂 -E
What a beautiful place
Yes Iqbal! The Sierra is a magical environment -- beauty everywhere you look!
All of those lakes are so beautiful, I don't think it's possible to designate one as "most beautiful". I really love that Elise thinks everywhere you go is the most beautiful place you've ever been; it just means she lives in the moment and can find beauty wherever she is, and that she deeply appreciates the beauty of these moments.
Thanks for sharing your adventures each week; you're videos make me so happy!
That is really a beautiful way to look at it, and honestly pretty accurate as well. We should always feel like the thing we're doing is amazing and wonderful. So glad you're enjoying the adventures -- that makes us feel very proud and happy as well!
Next hiking season y'all should do the Enchantments in a day or attempt a lottery for a backpacking trip, or the former plus see if there are some scrambles/traverses you can piece together in the area. I enjoy your attitudes and intentions with these videos. Thanks for sharing them!
Yes Ellie! The Enchantments is very high up on our list, and we we're hoping also to be able to do Rainier and maybe a couple of the other volcanoes as well, Would make for an absolute dream trip to the Pacific Northwest. Meanwhile, delighted you are enjoying the videos and thank you very much for the suggestion -- we will definitely do it, just have to find enough time to make a full trip out of it!
Hungry Packer and Midnight Lakes were my favorite. But just one of any of these lakes is a worthy destination. Thanks for taking us along on the ride!! You guys are the BEST!!! Take care!!
Thanks so much, Josh! Ya those upper lakes really took the cake -- it's hard to beat having those spectacular craggy peaks just rising straight up out of the lake! But you're right about them all being worthy destinations. We were thinking a lot of people might want to just visit 2 or 3 of them and make it a 10 mile hike rather than 20, and it would still be a wonderful day!
wow ,, n one else out there...its amazing u know these trails to these secluded places..i would worry someone would steal my vehicle...200 yrs ago there were california grizzlies out there..amazing how clear those lakes are..u 2 super athletes tap into some positive high energy out there,,i feel so lucky i found your channel.. thank u 4 sharing your adventures,, always makes my day seeing them .. i didnt know these secluded places were accesible ,, all the best ,, stay safe ,,
Actually this trail is very accessible! It’s incredible that there werent tons of crowds given the fact that places as gorgeous as Blue Lake would only require a couple of miles of hiking. But maybe that’s the secret we’re sharing here! 😏 we still can’t believe quite how gorgeous this route was, it was really fun looking back on the footage and getting to show it to you guys! ❤️
Midnight Lake is my favorite because I backpacked in and spend 2 nights there and hiked to all of the lakes you visited. Plus Blue Heaven Lake (above Midnight Lake). My fav lake for photography would be Hungry Packer because Picture Peak is so gorgeous! Thanks for the spectacular video!
Barbara you've done so many of these hikes in such cool ways -- you're definitely getting us thinking we should bring a tent more often and break these up into two-day sufferfests! ❤️
John Muir once said, “when we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe”.
The John Muir Wilderness is located in the Eastern Sierras, between the Sierra Nevada, White Mountains, and Great Basin Desert. It is an important migratory corridor for wildlife and plants that provides refuge to survive climate change.
In part, what gives this hike such special brilliance & lucidity is Elise’s evocative vocal style, reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and Adam’s masterful knowledge of Poetry.
Over the course of 20 miles of day hiking, much of it above 10,000 ft. elevation, Adam & Elise bring into excellent focus 10 magnificent lakes, where It is not difficult to imagine all of the colors of the rainbow that seem to shine through as the sun’s rays reflect from them and backdrops of dried glacial rivers with equally beautiful jagged peaks accent the horizon.
So, when asked by Adam & Elise, to choose one from the 10 disparate lakes on their hike, in my mind, it is the same as being asked to choose which one of my children I like best.
For me, the Lakes are an allegory of Adam & Elise’s spiritual journey.
Wow Frans, leave it to you to answer the lakes question with the absolutely perfect John Muir quotation! Neither of us had heard this before, yet now we feel like it is part of our mantra or, as you put it, our spiritual journey. Thank you so much not just for always supporting us, but also for always teaching us something wonderful. ❤️
As I'm watching this, it has 168 thumbs up, which is the designation of the highway that leads to this basin.
That is a perfect symbol of our whole Sierra trip this summer. We freaking LOVE that highway Joshua, and have been talking seriously about getting a place out there for when we early retire!
I love that area! I’ve only seen Sabrina, as I recall. From your adventure, I loved Midnight Lake, but then OMG, the color of Moonlight! Fabulous.
Yes Caroline! That was exactly Adam's dilemma as well. Midnight was so spectacular, but then he was seduced away from his first choice by the incredible blue of Moonlight!! Hope you can get up to those upper lakes at some point. It's a pretty long trek but SO worth it! Though as you already know, even just Sabrina itself is pretty extraordinary!
Emerald lake for sure, that Granite ridge above it with the pines scattered on it, gorgeous!
You two are deserving of every view received + the views to come!! Love the way you two live life & always “bring” us all on your adventures-thanks!!
That is so kind of you to say, thank you so much! We are truly appreciative of each and every one of you who watches and enjoys these videos. It's quite incredible to us that just by making and sharing these vids we've gotten to "meet" the most awesome people all around the world. So thanks for coming along on the adventures with us!
Been watching you guys for a while and had to rewatch this because we are headed out on a backpacking trip here in a couple of weeks. So great to see all the lakes and what you thought were the most beautiful!! Thank you for sharing! If you’re looking for recs, come up to Tahoe and hike in Desolation Wilderness. It’s incredibly beautiful and you can also get a ton of lakes in a day! Cheers!
Wonderful! You're going to love it for sure. And we have def got Desolation Wilderness on our list -- have heard only great things about it, so really looking forward to coming up and exploring! ❤️
All were fantastic looks so much more relaxing when hiking near water 💦 enjoyable takes ♥️u guys
Thanks Raymond! That's the word for sure -- it was a beautiful and relaxing day. Still tough doing 20 miles at that altitude, but the terrain was non-technical and we took our time and just fully enjoyed all that beauty. What a day!
You both are so inspiring. I feel so lucky to have found your channel! Beautiful lakes! Did you both really do it all in one day? Omg incredible!
I’m a woman, not in the best shape but I love hiking and this inspires me to get into shape to be able to see these beautiful places! I want to do this soon, alone maybe with my dog! Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much for telling us that! It makes us feel really good to know that we could inspire you, and we both definitely think that this would be a great hike for you as you are working into hiking shape. It's challenging but not too steep or dangerous or anything, and with all the lakes it would be perfect for a dog as well. Also, you can make it longer or shorter depending on how many of the lakes you want to go to. Please let us know how it goes!!
Midnight! Thanks for the trek. I have only been to Blue Lake with my father when I was a teenager in Scouts in the early 70’s and 30 plus years later with my two sons under 10. I will have to do your circuit. Try North Fork of Big Pine Creek. Nice loop and many lakes.
Thanks Jeffrey! That is so cool that you took your boys to the same place your dad took you: what a great way to commemorate the love of nature as part of your family heritage. Big Pine is a great suggestion. We got some of the Big Pine experience when we did Palisade Glacier, but are definitely going to go back and climb the other way too, up to lake 7 -- possibly in the snow this winter!
I can't pick, they just kept getting better! 😍 I absolutely love your videos!
Aw thank you so much Candis! We’re so grateful we got to explore this area before the wildfires hit this season. It was just a truly spectacular trail from start to finish and we’re hoping that once the smoke starts clearing some of you can go out and see it for yourselves!
gonna go with midnight lake, but tbh i like the way you guys respond to everyone in the comments, nicely done.
Solid choice Marc! I mean you really can’t go wrong. And honestly connecting with you guys is one of the best parts about making these vids. We’re just so happy to be finding other like-minded folks who share a similar appreciation for this beautiful Earth. Plus, you guys always keep us entertained with good stories and awesome recommendations. So thanks for taking the time to reach out, we appreciate you!
Moonlight is my favorite, absolutely beautiful 💙 it also has a great spot for snacking & napping!!! I would love to have just a 1/4 of your energy. Stay safe!
Yes Debbie! I agree about Moonlight, and you already know my secret to energy: naps and pop-tarts! It's an incredible combination!! -- A
You guys's bodies are off the charts. Is so impressive
Thank you, Jackie! Doing a lot of these sufferfest hikes definitely has the fringe benefit of keeping us fairly trim over the long term! ❤️
You both do such an amazing job with taking us along on your adventures. I always look forward to the next one.
I am with Adam here...Midnight Lake was my favorite but they each had their own beauty.
Thanks Robert! It makes us really happy to hear that you look forward to these -- that's really our goal, just sharing the love and excitement for each new adventure. And you're right -- each of the lakes really did have its own special beauty. Watching back on the video reminded both of us how beautiful and green Emerald Lake was in person, for example. But Midnight is a solid choice!
Moonlight Lake - just stunning! Actually all the lakes were pretty stunning! Great videography, as always!
Adam agrees with that choice -- the color was just insanely vibrant in person! Glad the beauty came through on the video. We really had fun shooting this one, because although it was long and high-altitude it was also easy trails, so we could focus fully on the beauty around us rather than worrying too much about falling!
I'm going with Hungry Packer Lake. Your photography is amazing, it is almost like being there!
Yes David! Elise agrees, and Hungry Packer is picking up steam! Glad you liked the filming on this one. To be fair, it almost seemed at times like it would be impossible to get wrong -- like no matter where we looked or pointed the camera there was a beautiful view. What a place!!
👍👍👍 love that light blue.
Yes!! The colors up there were totally amazing in person -- so glad the camera was able to capture some of that feel!
Blue Lake was my favorite with the peak in the backdrop.
Yes Stephen! We were wondering when someone would go for Blue Lake. It is totally gorgeous and like you say has a spectacular backdrop. It probably got shorted in the video because it wasn't yet fully light when we filmed it. Had we stopped there on the way down rather than the way up, it def would have gotten more votes!!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard . Yes, the early morning shadows seemed to be hiding Blue Lakes water color, but I could tell that during the daylight I'm sure it was gorgeous. Thanks again. Love to watch y'all play!
Donkey Lake! That's the best name for a lake ever! Epic weather, route & footage Adam & Elise, the cold water looked just the ticket for the hot weather ☀️🏃
Haha agreed, Martin! And Dingleberry and Topsy Turvy are pretty good names too! The cold water really was perfect, though it turned out to be not as hot as we'd expected because of the extreme altitude. The lower areas were like 110 degrees, but it was only 80 or so at 11,000 feet.
Take us to Garnet and Thousand Islands Lakes next! I haven’t been there in years. Both are the most picturesque you will ever see.
Yes!!!! Would you believe we didn't even know about these lakes until you mentioned them? The single best thing about having this channel is the incredible suggestions you guys have for really cool hikes, and this looks absolutely fantastic. Just spent 10 minutes scoping it out -- looks like with a couple of additions/variations we might even be able to make it into a 26-mile marathon. We will absolutely do this adventure at some point -- thank you so much for the excellent tip!
I vote for Moonlight! Great hike thanks!
Thanks Hal! Adam is with you on Moonlight, and Elise is still holding out for Hungry Packer. But Moonlight is slightly ahead on you guys' votes, with Midnight and Dingleberry also making surprise late moves!
I'm going with Emerald Lake, but they were all beautiful! Really fun watching you discover new destinations, dropping poetry lines, and smiling the whole time. Love you guys.
Thanks Bob! I had a real soft spot for Emerald too, for the same reason I picked Midnight -- the colors were insane! Hoping to take you up to the upper lakes at some point!
Hungry Packer! Glad u2 had super fun!!!
Excellent! It was looking like Moonlight had it for a while, but Hungry Packer is making a very strong comeback! And thank you, we really did have an incredible time on this one. No anxiety about falling -- just pure beauty, joy, and a little high-altitude cardio suffering.
You have explored so many breathtaking places and still doing it! I come across so many brilliant California places through your videos! Keep rocking my friends!
Yes! You know we will definitely keep rocking because you have been right there with us from the beginning!
Awesome hike and video, love your stuff. If you go back to Sabrina again, or a hike starting in any of these many eastern sierra canyons west of 395, you'll have a bunch of great fall color to ice the cake of your video this time of year. One adventure I would suggest is lundy cyn to 20 lakes basin loop and popup to conness basin for some of the coolest lakes I've seen in one small area, and then you would have a say, 25 lake day and could throw in a jaunt up north peak for a challenge. Might be about 20 miles or so.
Whoa Dave we just looked at it -- that is an insane idea and we LOVE it! Truly excellent recommendation. Thank you. Tried to do a cool eastern sierra hike a couple weeks ago but got shut down because of so much smoke from Sequoia. Couldn't even see 20 feet! Hope it's improving now -- we NEED to get back to the sierra soon! ❤️
Haha Epic! Elise is correct, every time one visits a stunning place of nature, it is always the most beautiful we have ever been to....simply because we strive to live for the moment, and that's how it should be!!! 😁
100% yes to all of this! Very well said -- it is all about living in the moment, and then adjudicating later on video!!
Wonderful , we were in Zion in 2022, but could not make that hike ( age 74)
That's ok -- we really hope and intend to still be hiking and climbing into our 70s and hopefully 80s, but of course we will dial back the distance and difficulty somewhat. Love that you are still getting out there in the places you love to be though -- that's what really matters! ❤️
One more great video, I love the music and chemistry between you guys. Such a wonderful place!!!!!!!
Thanks
Thanks Marc! Glad you liked this -- it was definitely a more relaxed vibe than some of our videos, but it was a pretty joyous experience to visit (and jump into) so many beautiful lakes. We're definitely going to be doing some more lake-hiking if the weather stays this hot!!!
Dingleberry is gorgeous. So glad the fires have not gotten that far south. I’m starting to dislike you guys a bit after seeing you RUN this hike🤣
Haha Dingleberry is making a late run for favorite lake! To be honest we didn't run the whole thing -- just enough to make sure we were the first ones out to these lakes because we wanted to film them in pristine solitude (and also not annoy anyone with our cliff-jumping shenanigans). But on the way back we walked almost the whole way. Well, at least until Adam depleted all his food -- then we ran down the last couple of miles because he was getting "hangry!"
Dingleberry Lake?? haha what a name. great video btw!! as always
Right?!? Dingleberry and Topsy Turvy were our favorite lake names. Glad you liked this video -- slightly different vibe for us, but really enjoyable to make with a bit less danger and a bit more swimming than usual!
simply wow
Haha that's exactly what we said -- at some of these lakes we couldn't even articulate -- just looked at each other and went wow!
Another great adventure you two! Your "punishments" really crack me up, too!
Thanks Jeff. This punishment was well deserved, too. My thumb must have somehow slipped and hit slo-mo on the iPhone, but that setting makes the shot much lower-resolution and thus essentially unusable for our hi-def videos. So poor Elise had to climb back up that cliff while shivering and jump in again. She was not happy, but def got a whole lot happier when she saw me turning blue while treading water out there! 🥶😂
Omg this has to be one of my absolute favorite videos ever! The Eastern Sierra is so unreal and all of those lakes are gorgeous! Thank you so much for showing us your incredible adventures, you guys are so amazing! 🙌🏼
Thank you so much! We're glad you liked this one because we had SO much fun making it -- it just seemed like every new lake was a present we got to open or something. Definitely would love to do another hike like this, with so many beauties to discover.❤️
If you guys ever come to the east coast, I think you would love breakneck ridge in upstate NY. I just did it today (first but scramble!) and it was great! And lots of off trail scrambling for you two.
Danielle that looks Amazing! We just checked it out, and there are enough other trails around there that connect to it that we could not only do Breakneck Ridge but also make it into a full 26 mile marathon sufferfest with Sugarloaf and a couple other peaks!!! This definitely has to happen at some point. Thank you for the fantastic tip!
Thank you for sharing such beautiful and fun adventures! My wonderful partner and I love watching your videos and then going on hikes and adventures! Keep up the great work and be careful on those dicey trails!
It's truly our pleasure, and we're delighted that you watch these with your partner and then go hike. That brings us a lot of joy -- thank you so much for sharing that. And we will for sure be careful out there -- just not too careful!!
I love the Eastern Sierra! I've been there countless times. If you haven't done so already, visit the trails above Rock Creek and Saddlebag Lakes. You won't be disappointed. My favorite lakes were the last three. I love'd the turquoise color. I can't wait to see your next adventure. Thanks for taking us along with you from the comfort of my office chair.
Oooh thanks Gar -- we haven't done those trails up there yet, but now we definitely will! Yes the last lakes were our favorites too. Adam loved the colors, especially of Moonlight, and Elise loved the incredible backdrop of Hungry Packer. What a place!!
I'm with Elise, the most beautiful place is the one I'm in. Time of day differences in the video makes it tough to choose a fav, the sun can really friendly up a lake - Blue and Moonlight if I had to pick two. Nice video guys, you did some serious land coverage that day. Really enjoy being brought along....
Right Bill?! Adam always laughs at me when I say "this is the most spectacular summit ever" but it truly does feel that way sometimes 😂 You're right about the sun biasing some preferences though. Maybe that means we have to go back and figure out a way to do it in reverse so we have all the most accurate data to make an informed decision. Not opposed to that idea! 🤔
Hello Adam and Elise!! Wow......this is a stunning hike!! I'd have to say it is one of my most favorites of your videos, so far. And....it is doable by us mere mortals! I feel like when I am on another Los Angeles/Orange County overnight, I could drive there that day and car camp, do the hike in a day and car camp again, and drive back to L.A the following day. I have had Lake Sabrina pinned from a previous youtuber; I'd guess it was from California Through My Lens. You guys have taken it past the next level!
Very happy to have the swimming back into the repertoire! I could tell that I wouldn't want to do it in those upper level lakes at the end; but very nice, none-the-less.
Ok....I am going to claim Switzerland and say "All of the lakes are my favorites there"! No kidding....I'd be happy hiking to any one of those lakes and spending 2 or 3 nights. A few of them were big enough, to include the surrounding terrain, that I could spend even longer at.
Those Eastern Sierras are absolutely stunning!! I look forward to the day where I could bring my dog and he'd have a huge blast bouldering along that kind of route!
Safe travels and have a spectacular weekend!
Yes Alan! This would be the ultimate camping trip to bring your dog on -- especially if he likes to swim!! You could car camp before the hike, or also just hike up with a tent and camp at one of the lakes. Either way it is just pure beauty, and seems like heaven for dogs as well!!!
I love watching your videos! You both inspire me to get outside and explore more!! Can't wait to see your next video! :)
Wow thank you, that makes us both so happy to hear! Any time we can be an inspiration in any way it makes us feel like we're actually doing something useful and important in our lives. Can't wait to take you along on some more adventures!
Adam & Elise...okay, I am going with Hungry Packer Lake as the most beautiful. It was a tight race. To be fair, I would need to sample each Lake with a dip to make an uneducated choice. :) Not sure which of you adds the graphic, but as a Map Guy, I really enjoy the interactive earth map you include! Thanks!
Thanks Patrick! The map graphics are all Elise -- Adam's brother showed her how to do it, but now she has taken full charge of the situation! Ya Hungry Packer was an incredible lake with that mountain just rising vertically right out of it. Also a great place to climb along the cliffs and just find a place to hang out!
Wow, what a beautiful hike you did! Thanks for the video :-) All the lakes were gorgeous, but the last lake I saw in the video (the second lake you were swimming in. Was that Sailor Lake?) is my favorite.
Thank you! The last lake was Hungry Packer lake -- so beautiful we had to swim in it! And Elise totally agrees with you, that was her favorite lake as well. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks for letting me know that it was Hungry Packer Lake :-) I'd love to hike up there some day!
I need to chart out this route. Looks amazing
Yes please do -- you will not regret it! And there are other lakes up there that we didn't get to -- you can even just start mixing and matching them on the fly depending on how you feel with the altitude and distance. It's a true hiker's paradise! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard it’s a dream. I’ll be out there in a few months. Did you make those 3D visuals of the trails early in this video? It would be so helpful to have a map software like that. I’m not sure what my plan is for routefinding
Wow! Another awesome video you two! I love all the beautiful lakes, especially Moonlight Lake. Thanks for sharing 👍 ❤
Thanks so much! We were really happy to share this one, because even though it's long the whole thing is on safe and easy terrain, so almost anyone in good hiking condition can get out there and do it! Moonlight is a good choice -- as good as the color looks on camera, it was even more incredible in person!
Wow, i need to go back! Great footage.
I didn't check out topsy turvy when camping in the upper basin. :( After setting up camp on sailor, i checked out hungry packer.
The next day, explored moonlight and scrambled further up to echo lk! Then, I moved camp to midnight lk, but didnt have time to check out hell diver or blue heaven lks.
Donkey lk looked great! Next time, id love to check it out...maybe camp at baboon lks...and see sunset. I could easily spend a week up there.
Yep, the water is cold at ~11k'. LOL
Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks John -- we were thinking exactly the same thing! It would be so great to spend at least a few days doing different peaks from a campsite next to one of the high lakes. What a place! And we didn't even know about Echo Lake, so that's a great reason for us to go back right there!
Georgous footage of that scenery!
Thanks Carl! This was definitely one of those hikes where you could just close your eyes and point the camera and it would come out pretty good -- just non-stop beauty everywhere we looked!
So gorgeous. Great tour! I’m starting to recognize all of your songs, too!
Yes Ashwin! So glad you liked this one -- views and music both! We're working on a few new songs too, so hopefully will have at least a couple good ones to add to the mix over the next month or so!
Midnight and Moonlight were my favs! Great video like always!! Thanks for taking us on the adventure with you 👍🏼
Thanks Arlett! We really enjoyed taking you on this one -- it was fun to hike, and fun to film because it was just so beautiful everywhere we felt like we couldn't possibly go wrong. Yes Adam agrees with you about both of those lakes -- the incredible color made the difference for him. Elise is still leaning toward Hungry Packer Lake because of the spectacular way the mountain seems just to rise straight out of it. But really, all three of those lakes are pretty darn amazing.
Looking across Hungry Packer Lake to the peak is a beautiful view, but Moonlight Lake takes the win with the combination of the amazing color of the water against the mountainous backdrop. What a great outing.
Thanks Matthew! That was pretty much Adam's final choice too. The color of Moonlight was just so amazing in person -- glad it came across in the video!
Hungry Packer is my pick. After watching your video I really want to jump into a lake right now!...
Yes! We've found over the years that jumping into a lake is basically NEVER a bad idea!! HP is Elise's favorite too, and it is making a strong comeback against Moonlight and Midnight lakes. Of course, all three of those upper lakes are among the most beautiful things we've ever seen, so it's hard to go wrong!
Really want to plan a trip back to that area, love the mountains in the background. Hiked Mt. Whitney in one day on July, but really tired and suffered on the way down. I think what's missing is jumping into lakes 🤣 ☺️
Yes! You should have jumped into Lone Pine lake on the way down -- we did that once after hiking Whitney and it totally revived us for those final long miles to the bottom!!
I'm gonna have to say Emerald lake, I love the green around the lake...great video, you guys refresh us so much, thanks for taking us along again!
Thanks so much Bill! Yeah that Emerald Lake was so unique with all the green! No mystery there how it got it’s name 😂 very glad you enjoyed this one - it was a bit more calm than our usual ones, but we were hoping you guys would enjoy the beauty as much as we did!
Who could choose? All 63 of your vlogs are my favorites. You guys pick the best places with the most interesting and beautiful surroundings. Elise so glad you get even with Adam sometimes. You froze on last weeks vlog. Pay back time was due. After all Adam sure does laugh a lot at your expense. Your so sweet. Elise you need to film him crossing those creeks more. I bet he scoots on his butt more than we see. 😀 Love you guys! Thanks for sharing and be safe!!!
Aw thanks so much, Larry! And you'd better believe I have that camera on Adam as much as possible in the hopes of a stumble, but he practically never even slips! Most river crossings he literally just runs across like a gazelle or something, but I definitely caught him in a stumble this time! My dream, of course, is that one day he will fall fully into the water and I'll catch it on camera, and then put the whole thing on super slo-mo in the video. That will be a joyous day. Thanks as always for your amazing encouragement and support! --E
Your reply’s are treasured here! Living alone now they make me feel like family. Thank you again for sharing your adventures and especially your time. Your beautiful people!!!!
You guys do a great and fun job with your videos, wow! Really enjoy the adventures. Thanks for sharing!
Aw thanks so much Fred! So glad to hear that you enjoy them. We do have a ton of fun making them and also sharing them with you guys. One of the best parts is your guys' reactions to some of the adventures. Looking forward to showing you some of the awesome climbs we've got planned ahead!
Omgoodness this is so awesome
Thanks John! We had nothing but fun on this one -- no fear, not too much suffering, just pure joy and beauty in nature!
Carpe diem....even if you're soft. LOL You guys put a smile on my face from the word go! That was a great adventure. Thanks for taking us along!
Haha thanks Todd! Ya that carpe diem song is definitely kind of our spiritual theme song. So glad you enjoyed this one -- it was really fun to make, because it wasn't technical terrain so we had a lot more time and energy to spend on relaxing and enjoying the views!
great video guys!! Yeah, Midnight for me too!!!
Thanks Michael! Midnight is making a serious run for the top along with Moonlight and Hungry Packer!!
They are all beautiful lakes🤩 so blue! But I’d have to pick one it would be midnight Lake!
Midnight is a really good choice, Stephanie. It was like swimming in some kind of garden of Eden or something. The water was so clear and clean, and the beauty all around...it was crazy!
Love love love all
Moonlight Lake was my fave! So gorgeous!
Thanks Carolyn! That was Adam's favorite too (though he switched favorites like 3 times!) -- the color was just incredibly vibrant in person. Glad you enjoyed!
Another fantastic adventure! Eastern Sierra is my favorite destination. I haven’t done any hikes out of Lake Sabrina but that will change soon. Looks like some perfect day hikes!
My favorite…Dingleberry looked spectacular but I think I’ll agree with Adam that Midnight Lakes takes the honor. Onward!
Yes Tom! We really came to love Lake Sabrina on this trip, and couldn't recommend hiking there more highly. It is not technical, but it is steep enough be challenging and of course so beautiful as to be entirely worth it no matter which way you look! You are going to love it.
Wonderfull places!! But moonlight lake is a dream....good job!!!😉😉
Thanks Giovanni! Yes Moonlight really was dreamy -- especially being able to hop out on those rocks and feel surrounded by its beauty. Hope you get to visit these at some point -- the beauty in person feels almost overwhelming!
Before the cancer struck me I backpacked all over the west. I was at Blue lake last summer
Blue Lake is SO great, Mike! Very sorry that the cancer (and probably the treatment too) is limiting you so much, and sending you all our love and hugs and strength. Hope you will be able to overcome it and get back into the mountains where you belong! 💪❤️
This video was so fun! Loved seeing all of the lakes! I think midnight was the most beautiful. My dream is to jump in one of these lakes with you two! 👏🏻😍
That is our dream too!!! We've got to plan a good hike for when you and Marco get back here in October 😃
Each lake was stunning, and worthy of its own day hike. Truly beautiful the way you guys share this amazing world with everyone.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
My vote would be for Hungry Packer though, I could see doing a photo study there, from dawn to dusk. Those reflections were something else.
Just added that one to my Bucket List. Someday.
Yes yes yes!!! Adam was saying the same thing. He wants to come back without any video at all -- just the Nikon and do nothing but landscape shots. Hungry Packer and Sailor Lakes would be his main two choices given way they're framed by the craggy mountains behind them. We really hope that you do it, and send us some shots!
Gorgeous! Your channel inspired me to hike the Big Pine Lake trail a few weeks ago, grateful I learned about it from you! I know this may be a bit silly, but have you ever thought about doing a short video on the different shoes you use? Given the complexity of terrain you cover I’m always so curious what sort of hiking shoes/trail runners you use/trust!
Wow! There is nothing we love more than hearing we've inspired a hike. That just made our day. Hope you enjoyed the Big Pine Lakes... that's still one of our favorite areas. We were actually just talking today about planning some adventures there possibly in the winter to see what it looks like with a wintery wonderland vibe. And you basically read our minds about the shoes - we actually just finished filming a video about all of our essential gear for hiking and trail running, and we're hoping to get it out to you guys in the next week! In the meantime, we did make a list of the specific shoes we wear and put it on our website - www.livehardxlovehard.com/gear-list/ so hope that helps! 😊
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us
Our pleasure, guys -- this one is honestly a must-do. Not dangerous, but epically beautiful -- we think you would love it!
Amazing, no words ! :-) :-)
Thanks so much, Petr -- that's very much how we felt when we were there!! We just kept smiling and saying Wow!
Wow those lakes are gorgeous guys 😍😍😍 good job ❤️
Thanks Kelly! We could not believe how pretty some of the lakes were, especially the upper ones. We ended up staying for a pretty long time at Midnight, Moonlight, and Packer because we just couldn't make ourselves leave!!!
AWESOME GUYS 👏🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♥️
Thanks Oscar! Such a fun summer hike -- no danger, just lots of miles, lots of beauty, and lots of swimming!
You guys find the most magical idealic places. I'm gonna ask please for longer video's of all the places you visit. Please keep doing what ya doing and following your passions. Thnx so much 🌬️ 💐 💙 ✨ ✨ 🙏
Wow thank you so much! We're sometimes worried that you guys might get bored if we make the videos too long, but we definitely always have more footage we could put in. Is there anything in particular you would like to see more of? For example, longer landscape sweeps of the best views? We're always appreciative of any advice and ideas!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard wow, your response is very fast and much appreciated. I love your your suggestions of longer landscapes footage. There is no way, that your followers and future subs, could or would get bored with longer video's. We wish, we could be there with you and not just in spirit. We all need to slow down and just take in our own surroundings more. Please keep up the good quality video's you guys are putting together. We love you and joining you on your adventures together. 🌬️💙✨✨✨💐🙏
Another excellent theme adventure. Thank you and thanks viewers for suggesting it!
Moonlight Lake has my vote because the water color looked aqua-marine,
which reminds me of the color of the water in the Carribean. Adam's poetry there was a bonus.
Emerald lake came in second because of the color and plants around it.
Nearly all the laks in NewEngland have foliage around them.
Tomorrow I am off to hike the 100 Mile Wilderness in along the Appalachian Trail in Maine, hoping to summit Mt. Kathadin at the northern terminus. Please wish me luck. One of my hip tendons is still sore from conditioning hikes last weekend.
Go go go!!! You've got this! It's a perfect time of year to be doing that hike, and the beauty will see you through. Just remember to bring plenty of Advil -- that's gotten us through a LOT of soreness over the years on long hikes. And please don't forget to let us know how it goes!!
Nice! I know Sabrina well. Bishop creek to owens. I just did onion valley kearsarge pass to Rae Lakes.... beautiful... I caught a golden!! Let it go of course... just beautiful. Great to see u livin and lovin!!
Amazing, Matt! Oh my gosh Rae Lakes must have been amazing this time of year. Adam's thinking of trying to do the full loop in a day so we can do it without a camping permit! But 40 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing might be a little bit extreme even for us! Better to go a bit slower and do some fishing like you did!
Midnight Lake no doubt!!!!
Yes! There seems to be a close race between Midnight, Moonlight, and Hungry Packer. Although Dingleberry does seem to be making a late play! 😂
Moonlight Lake! 💪🏼🤩💪🏼
Yes Lauren! It was a tough choice for us between Moonlight, Midnight, and Hungry Packer, but it looks like you guys are helping us decide on Moonlight. The colors are too amazing to be denied!!
Beautiful water in those lakes! Watch the heat and stay hydrated!
Hard NOT to stay hydrated when they have literally Millions of gallons of fresh water to drink when necessary. One could drink from these Lakes without a filter being necessary.
Thanks Joseph, we definitely did! Every time we started getting hot we either put our hands and feet in a lake or jumped in completely. It was such an amazing way to stay cool and refreshed on a really hot day!
Sailor Lake was my dream lake! I am so so happy I got to be there through your videos THANK YOU! Have you guys summited Matterhorn Peak in the Eastern Sierras yet? Jack Kerouac tried to climb it and didn't quite make it to the top! He missed out on some of the best views I've ever seen :)
Great call! Matterhorn is currently number 2 on our Sierra wish list, right behind the Dragon Peak traverse! Really hoping to get up there and do it at some point this fall -- it looks utterly amazing!! Awesome that you did that one. Please let us know if you have any specific tips about routes up, etc.
Packer Lake for sureeeee🙌
Ok Elise was already leaning that way too, but Adam almost had her talked into Moonlight Lake because of the incredible color. But the mountains rising straight out of Packer Lake are insane! You might well be picking the overall winner here Kiara!
My vote, Moonlight Lake! Adam, how did you damage your ear drum? Much love to you both, thank you for motivating us to continue to push ourselves to be the best us :)
Thanks for always being such a strong supporter of us, Jared! The ear damage was from childhood: I had tubes in my ears and something went wrong and the eardrums got scarred. Since then they just tend to rupture when put under any pressure -- particularly the right one for some reason. It can even happen on airplanes, so water pressure below 1 foot is a no-no for me. Sometimes I go for it anyway, but have paid the price often enough that I'm pretty careful about it these days -- especially since balance is so crucial to our adventures and eardrum problems can throw off your balance!
Simply stunning from the first lake to the last surrounded by majestic mountains all around.
Thank you! We felt exactly that way being there in person, so very glad that it came across to you in the video. Such an incredible place!
