I've just recently passed our exams here in the Philippines (Officer In Charge of the Navigational Watch) which has the equivalent distinction of 3rd & 2nd mate license. Could you please share your tips as to how you ranked uo over the years I would be extremely grateful

FPSPhilippines no need to hurry what you only need is to get familiarize of all the job description of 3rd and 2nd if you don't doubt your job anymore time for you to step up ur rank. Always remember that you REALLY NEED to know ALL in your job description and by the way for me being the 2nd officer is the hardest aside from beig the capt 😝

I used to study at Maritime University in Szczecin, Poland. I don’t recommend this kind of work, but depends on life preferences. Not my kind of lifestyle, I’m already done with sailing. But you don’t need to study to start a seagoing career, at least here in Poland. Yes, women work at sea, not onboard this particular vessel, but they do. And yes I had to leave Poland to join a ship - in this case it was France and I disembarked in the United Arab Emirates.

14 hours a day split into 3 shifts..
Food was good , wages were not!.
I only stayed so long so I could get some pension.
