DEATH is honestly one of my favorite fantasy characters of all time. He's also a great example of why Terry Pratchett is a genius. Death is often considered an evil force in fiction. Like when Hollywood movies make characters like Hades evil. Pratchett takes the Grim Reaper, an imposing and intimidating being associated with fear of the unknown and says, "He's really a nice guy once you get to know him."
Death: Humans need fantasy to be human, to be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape Death: You think so? Then take the universe and grind it down to the finest powder and sieve it through the finest sieve and then show me one atom of justice one molecule of mercy, and yet you try to act as if is some ideal order in the world as if there is some rightness in the universe by which it may be judged I love those quotes a lot :D
Note that the children didn't think that Death was creepy, despite Te A Ti Me's efforts to present him as a bogyman. They knew who the creepy one was. Death could be scarry, especially when he was angry, but he was never malicious.
the reaper of death being called grandad would be the coolest thing to say knowing you have a link to death that isn't you first and final meet with the neutral living entity. for as there is always live there will always be death.
Suan: I don't remember them asking for anything that made a noise. Death: Oh, There Has To Be Something In The Stocking That Makes Noise. Otherwise, What Is 4:30 a.m. For. And , I Am Last Minute Stuff. And then later, There's Always Time For Another Last Minute. 😅😂🤣😭🤣😂🤣😭 Guess when you are last minute stuff, you can have as many last minutes as you want too. 😅😂🤣 RIP Sir Terry Pratchett.
@HastaLaVistaCrew Why? Teatime was a monster, plain and simple. Being a rather attractive young man doesn't take away from the fact that he's a heartless sociopath who wishes to cause chaos simply because he can. On the other hand, he IS a great villain. I just can't be SAD, per se, that he's dead.
I thought the book version said that the thing that killed Teatime shouldn't have killed him and should have worked only on monsters only for Death to say that the weapon knew very well what he was... that part was awesome. :p Did I miss that? If that's not here, they should have kept it. :p
"It only kills monsters", said one of the children after Mr. Teatime commented that it couldn't have gone through Death due to all the "Ribs and stuff". It didn't hurt Death because he's not a monster.
@@Fera-gr5mm In Susan's hands that poker could kill almost anything, to my thinking. I think it didn't work on Death because he is a necessary part of the universe and not a monster at all.

He also said we CREATE justice and mercy, buy you didn't fuckin bother to quote that. It doesn't have to be eternal to be real.
@@matsimurf_5900 wow man... you sure told me ELEVEN YEARS ago. Pwned epically.

I love how death is the only one to say his name right
Of course.
I like how Susan killed Teatime, but i find it quite sad that he had to die...
This is so weird, yet so enjoyable at the same time.
Course, all the best movies and video-games are that way.

Just shut up!
@darklylooking
They used Depp's Wonka accent for the character of Teatime [pronounced Teh-ah-timey].
@Phireo My bad. for some reason I thought Hogfather came out before Charlie.. They are close release dates Charlie in 2005 Hogfather in 2006.
So sad he died 😭

@AvatarWho the bad ones never die in stories.
I wonder if Mr Teatime is the basis for Willy Wanka in Charlie and the Chocolate factory?
Wonka predates Teatime by several decades. At least, the original book and the movie. As for the remake, I'm not sure.
