    I live in a humid climate. Our electric blankets went mildewed after putting them under a thick mattress topper after one winter, used for pre-heating only. If you put the electric blanket over the topper, it is uncomfortable. So she has a point - don't use both. Either a topper (with a hot water bottle?) or an electric blanket and a thin topper over it. PS It is impossible to get the smell out. PPS Milk before bed helps with wake-ups due to low blood sugar during the night.

    Seems simple enough advice to me. Avoid using the blanket because of electric wiring issues and if you do use it simply lay it out flat. Thanks for the insight. It's OK to use the blanket as a mattress pad but be careful with it to avoid electric shock.

    There are mattress pads that work better than a blanket. I’ve used one for several years on a queensize spring mattress. Since it’s the fitted style, it stays flat.

    You're all full of crap! 15 year old Sunbeam Electric blanket on #3 under sheet, blanket AND bed spread! Never a problem! I turn it on an hour before bed so it goes off when I rise!

    • @Believer3_
      @Believer3_ Před rokem

      These type of blankets use copper wires that get hot to produce heat. I dont think its a very good idea to to sleep while its on, as these electrical items produce somthing called 'EMF radiation'.
      Which can cause a bunch of health problems. And as you say its 15 years old so it more then likely emits a lot of radiation waves that will mess with your brain.
