    I just wanted to know that, in one n half breaker i-type scheme for every feeder there is one dedicated isolator is mentioned, but in case of feeder fault or maintenance both the Circuit Breaker as well as the isolator will open, which is placed either side of the feeder, then why there is one extra dedicated isolator for the feeder...?
    Expecting a reply from your side. Thanks in advance sir. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  Před 4 lety +1

      there is nothing as such switchyard Protection. switchyard is basically high voltage feeder and bus bar system. so there Protections shall be just like the feeders like transformer feeder, incomer feeder , line feeder etc. only thing you have to remember if the switchyard voltage is 220kv or higher then bus bar differential protection is must.
      and for switchyard having more than one bus, there shall be Protection switching scheme. suppose you are transferring an incomer to transfer bus for the incomer breaker maintenance, then all the incomer Protection shall be switched to bus coupler.

    the switch gears with its cubicle consist of its portion of Bus bars. So except for single bus bar scheme & single bus bar scheme with sectionalyzer how do we employ other bus bar schemes, as we need to connect one breakers to more than one bus?

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  Před 4 lety +1

      No other bus bar schemes are available either at outdoor i.e. switchyard or in gis(gas insulated switchgear). Normal pcc panel or switchboard has one bus with bus sectionaliser known as bus coupler

    11:00 Sir, is it allowed for a double bus scheme system to skip the bus coupler
    Theoritically, i want to isolate bus 1 for maintenance.
    Convention is:
    1. Close bus coupler
    2. close both bypass isolator
    3. Open bus 1 isolators bus side
    4. Open bus coupler
    Can i do it like this?
    1. Close incomer bypass isolator
    (Negligible current, bus 2 energize, same potential as bus 1)
    2. Close outgoing bypass isolator (Same potential as bus 1)
    3. Open bus 1 isolators bus side
    If i skip the bus coupler using these step what are the consequence?

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  Před 4 lety

      No, then all the incoming and outgoing feeders breaker will be bypassed. You need to close the bus coupler first to bring both the buses at same potential. Follow convention an standard operating procedures. Do not improvise in ehv system, that can be fatal. Think multiple time properly.

      Sir, Thank you for the safety concern/instruction and speedy reply
      I am nowhere near any ehv. I am working on a school project computer program on bus operations. All theoretical. I have allowed isolator to operate on no load condition except if there exist a parallel path of equal potential or negligible current. So far my incorrect steps allowed the bus to operate without consequences and the incoming and outgoing feeders where not bypassed.
      I have to find a way to include these restriction.
      Sir what program did you use to show us the operation of isolators and breakers in another video?
      Again thank you, this video gave me an understanding on how bus scheme operation works.

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  Před 4 lety

      Remember two thing regarding isolator operation. 1 no current change 2. No voltage change.
      Now what you said earlier will let you operate the isolators but that will eleminate all circuit breakers of the feeders. And also the by pass isolators are interlocked with other bypass isolator. So you can close only one by pass isolator at a time.

    • @varimas
      @varimas Před 4 lety

      @@electricaltechnologyandind5335
      Sir, Thank you for your insights and suggestions.
      What you mean by eliminate all feeder circuit breakers is that the circuit breakers will automatically open?
      I realized I was missing the interlock restriction.
      By putting an interlocking condition such as if a bus isolator is closed, the other bus isolator can only be operated when the busbar coupler is closed, i avoided comitting my hazardous incorrect steps.

  • @EberFarmo

    Hi. Are you sure about your explanation for close the disconnector???? 9:00 to 10:00 You can not close the disconnector just because the voltage of both side is equal.

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  Před 3 měsíci

      Possible. Isolator can be closed if there is no change in current or voltage.

    • @EberFarmo
      @EberFarmo Před 3 měsíci

      but you did not say that in video.
      Please check again your description about the priority of disconnector and circuit breaker.
      You said before opening the outgoing CB , you could close the disconnectir.
      Even you said , first close the coupler CB and after that close the bypass disconnector . It is completely wrong and impossible

      After closing of bus coupler both the buses are charged.. now you switch over each feeder from say bus 2 to bus 2. Now your bus 2 is free. Open the bus coupler. Your bus 1 is de energized
