It may just have been timing as right around that time, he was a headliner on tour with Def Leppard as support. Soon after Def Leppard were headlining and Billy was basically done. Billy Squier was popular back when I was in ninth grade. "Lonely Is The Night" is quite Led Zeppelinesque, ain't it? Lonely, lonely, lonely, time! "The Stroke" was his big hit back in 1981. "In the Dark", is another big song from that album that holds up well all these years later.

The first time I heard this on the radio, I thought it might be from Robert Plant's new solo album. I was pretty stoked. Later on, when Plant's album did come out, I was kinda bummed that it didn't rock as hard as this...Heh...

Billy Squier had some really great songs. I got to see the band in concert back in the 80s. SO, I really liked "The Big Beat", "The Stroke", "Don't Say You Love Me", "Everybody wants you", "In the Dark", "Rock Me Tonight", "My Linda Lover", and "Emotions in Motion". Not many ballads in his song music, mostly all rockers I think. A few of his songs start with the drums, or a big guitar hook, he was really good with that. He also did a collab with Freddie Mercury from Queen called "Love is the Hero". It is notably different style than most of Billy Squier songs, so I am sure it was influenced by Freddie Mercury. I am sure I left something out, but I really like Billy Squier. He is a great Guitar player and has a really great Rock voice.

His MOST POPULAR WAS "THE STROKE" the beat was so hot, no one listened to the lyrics and what he was. Really singing about .I mean you start off with "Stroke me stroke me " where does your mind go? But the song is about stroking the Ego, of the most powerful, when you need their support or VOTE!! The political game and how it's played .... Thank you for playing his music. Billy Squier actually started in a band called Piper. He was on 2 albums with them before Tale of The Tape was released.

Billy was never given enough credit for his guitar chops. Hell of an artist that got turned into a pop star.

During the last part of the disco era , when the dance craze was going & rock took a back seat, There came Billy & kept us rockers alive. In recent years he has toured with Ringo's All-star Band (which you should check out.. some very famous artists playing with him) He had many hits and was a force in the early to mid 80's. Super Reaction.. On The Mark..

This was a SOLID freaking first album. It was everywhere for a few summers running and never left rotation in the rock radio arena. The Stroke was his biggest hit and this was second but my favorite track of his. Everybody wants you was also HUGE!
