  • SaludArte is a collaborative project between the Pima County Health Department and the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona to find ways in which community engagement, health, and art can intersect to amplify the voices and experiences of individuals,
while also increasing County-wide health equity, access, literacy, and post COVID-19 resilience.
SaludArte began by leveraging census data, the Social Vulnerability Index and COVID-19 data to identify 5 communities in Pima County that were both under-resourced and the hardest hit by COVID.
SaludArte staff then recruited 15 community members from each identified area to participate in a series of meetings to: 1) educate participants about the public art process, 2) select an artist, 3) capture community members’ experiences using Community Centered
Design (CCD) activities, and 4) approve artists’ final concept design.
The artists created meaningful installations that reflected the impact of the pandemic in their community, as well as pathways to recovery, which were unveiled at each “Celebrate SaludArte” event. Attendees were provided critical resources for health, housing,
education, and fun. To learn more about the artists and the CCD process, visit artsfoundtucso.... This film was produced by Artifact Video Productions, Agile Accomplice LLC, and the Pima County Communications Department.
