To me, Ride, and particularly this song, is the quintessential dreampop/shoegaze example, followed by Lush. I saw Ride in '90 or '91 at the Latin Quarter in Detroit. I was new to this genre of music. The guitar , bass, keyboard, and drum work is just incredible, they all come together to create this flood of sound. Just awesome. This song, and Lush's Sweetness and Light stand out, to me as the pinnacle of this genre.

I would suggest start with the 2 albums “Story of the Ghost” & “Rift” ,and just imagine them playing those songs in front of a live audience ..to the “T” note for note (unbelievable, and they’re still doing it today with the mid 90’s being their highest point of precision. (my bad for rambling just trying to spread good vibes..) I do however agree with your sentiment regarding his talents behind a drum kit.. more or less a rhythm drummer if u ask me but nonetheless damn good, ✌️

WTF.... Why is it I've never heard of this song?! I was well into the Verve back in the day. Its 2019, and I'm only watching this now! 😁

S.W. BEST I feel you dude, I’ve been into The Verve my whole life and only just started getting properly into all the other shoegaze bands from that era recently. And now it’s become my favourite genre!

To whoever mixed this, the guitars are supposed to be a swirling vortex of noise, not an Oasis b-side

you have a point, but i think that the band itself is more responsible for this

If you went to see them live in their come back gigs you would have noticed that the sound got more classic and less shoegaze.

I agree, but this captures the great guitar work without overdubs. I love the roar, but this is a faithful live rendition. What chaps my ass is their heading down the electronic path on new material.
