Thank you. This is exactly what I do on my Brompton, tilting the handlebars towards me and the saddle angle slightly up and the position of the bar ends too! It makes such a difference in comfort! The slightly wider folded package is still small enough.

I have also adjusted angle of handlebar towards the saddle. One thing to notice is that folded width of bike changes, handlebar is further from the frame of the bike when folded, which makes folded bike wider. This is normally not a big deal, but when fitting bike into bag or to the shelf of train etc, it may be problematic.
I made tiny marks to handlebar and holder with nail lacquer, red color, and marked original and new positions. It's then quick to adjust handlebar back to "standard" width if I want to fold my bike to most compact width.

Yes, the outward bend is an unfortunate side effect of moving the bars to a more comfortable position. I actually can still get the Brompton cover over them with the Ergon grips for an added degree of difficulty. It's a very snug fit and not good if you need to get the bag on quickly to board a train, but it's do-able. I mostly keep the bag for cases where a restaurant might deny me entry over the bike. 😉
