- My experimental coax-based 20/40m trap vertical antenna has finally bitten the dust. Now it's time to replace it with a proper discrete capacitor-inductor trap. So in this episode I touch on the subject of putting the trap together, show how I put it together, and we do a quick test on the RigExpert. Some other issues are uncovered, that will no doubt make it into the next episode, so come on back!
BRAVO! Excellent use of a trap. Looking forward to the next in the series. 73
Looking forward to getting this sorted out. Thanks for following along!
Hi Derrick! Can you do a video explaining the purpose of doorknob capacitors in amplifiers?
I love your BTTF-style Plutonium case. :)
Hey Jim! Thanks man.
I gotta get out and fix my 20m wire, i think it's stretched. i need to re-do radials as well. I'm afraid to go back there, like yours, i got wildlife probably gonna eat me.
Very cool, Derek.
Hey good luck out there. We got bears, alligators, bobcats, wild boars… it’s like a zoo in the back. Makes putting up antennas all the more fun.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Great vid
Thanks!
Always admire your build skills - good job. Question - have u calculated the resulting loss from inserting a trap in ur vertical antenna? I've heard this is the downside to these types of antennas but I have no idea how significant it would be. I assume in this case, the losses would occur on 40M. What do u think? 😀 73 KJ6ER

Hi Derrick, and thanks for the video! Where do you suggest to purchase doorknob caps?
I've gotten several from the local surplus shop here in Orlando (Skycraft Surplus).. as well as eBay, usually from Ukraine.
missed the part for the actual wire length , but i am guessing 5.1m and 10.1m
Awesome job with the video 👍
Thanks Ape. Appreciate it!
👍
Where is the video summarizing that the problem has been solved?
Great job! What happened to your 'The Current Source' youtube channel? There were also many good videos...
