Love how John "thinks" out loud to himself and creates a piece of furniture where most of us would have used a banister!! "Biggest" brother Joao is soooo good to your boys and a great influence for them too. His parents need to be commended for raising such a thoughtful, humble and ambitious young man!! Forgot to mention to John that in seeing an aerial view a video or two ago of his prized lawn area that it looks beautiful and park like!!! Tara...so happy to see you getting so much joy from your bees and thank you for sharing the process with us!!

I usually don’t comment, I’m Portuguese living in the USA for 36 years, I’m following your channel for almost two years and it’s an absolute delight every time you post a video.
I get happy with you, emotional with you and absolutely love your family, it’s so wonderful following your children growing and how happy they are.
I will be going to Portugal by the end of this month to spend time with my family , specifically my old parents ( I try to go every year) because I feel if I decide not to go I will regret it. Would be wonderful to give to you all a big hug and thank you for your videos, they make me feel so much closer to my loved country, and for that I’m grateful to you. Hats off to Tara for overcoming her fears by going alone. Its a very exciting moment with bees but I just can't get over my own fear from childhood when I was pushed into a wasps nest. The memories are painful. And the bookcase John has come up with is a serious, wonderful addition.

I have seen people put those stone eggs in wooden egg cups, they are stable then,with Prestick hidden away underneath the cup.

When my husband and I raised bees, I had my coffee with them in the mornings and wine in the evenings. They are lovely creatures ❤ The interior hive shots are fascinating!! Good that the manufacturers are sending risers for the hive. Brava to you, Tara for upping your bravery game👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Man!!! Those beautiful little explorers have totally stolen my heart. I miss the days my two little boys were so small, but they became young men of 24 and 19 in a blink of an eye. Enjoy them as much you can while they still this tiny Tara and John. They are absolutely beautiful!

Watching Crusoe's wonderment and joy over the baby chicks was a treasure. Your boys brings such smiles and laughter. John, what a beautiful bookshelf. I love the wood, its absolutely gorgeous! Tara, I came across a number of bees in my cantaloupe patch and thought of you. I remembered they are there to do a job and I should not be nervous or fearful. They don't want to sting me. It was fun watching them buzz about from flower to flower.

The bookshelf is awesome. There is something so satisfying about a nook-and-cranny project that yields storage and display space.
I’m one of those who love an actual book. The weight, the smell, the feel of the pages. I worked for my local library district for 20 years and am still thrilled to pick up my holds at the local branch. Do you have a public library near you? I hope so. I’m over sixty and the memory of getting my first library card is filled with excitement and delight. Have a great week!

I am old school when it comes to books, like the actual physical copy. I was in a book store yesterday and amazed at how packed it was and it made me recognise that we aren’t quite the dying breed I thought we were. As you walk down the stairs to the kitchen you should have your phrase Think Big, Be Brave, Explore so the kids see it every time they walk down.
John, your imagination for this bookshelf is brilliant! Who would have thought that would solve the problem for a banister. And I love that Tara filled it in with treasures. 👏👏
John's bookcase is a credit to him, so clever & with the addition of books & treasures its transformed the whole space, the eco has dulled somewhat now too.

Tara, we owe you a boat load of thanks for introducing us to 'Loquats". We never heard of Loquats before. We bought two trees from a local nursery then we also planted seeds. We now have 10 Loquat trees on our farm!!! You are making a positive influence on the entire world. THANK YOU
My fave! Had them growing up and planted a tree as an adult but moved to Maui and no tree here though they grow here as well. Kids love the big seeds, easy to spit out!😊😊😂😂

The book case turned out very fine, and it will be varnished, or painted?? One idea could be, drill holes of different size here and there, where the planks are above the stone,so the kids could spy from above, through the book case, haha.....and mebbe a wooden branch on top,to hold on when ascending....
The trick of make the video speed up is quite fun, when Tara cleaned the book case detrius, it looks so funny, TornadoTara, would be appropriate....
As for the bees, thanks for being so energic Tara, letting us see the insides, lit up wiv yer lamp, after several tries !! And also got a confirmation of bee cake building from the good bee dude, whos name I forgot....
The speckled hen had chicks, that was mesmerezing, pertikkeler for Crouse, when Joao so gently and slowly, took the eggshells, hepping the chick....

The bees seem very content in the hive, chickens being born in the coop and an amazing bookshelf and books. I read real books, go to the library every few weeks. I always marvel how John’s creativity comes up with such practical two purpose piece of furniture just brilliant- for a book reader like myself hanging out in that sun filled stairwell I’d find myself a comfy cushion and a sunny spot on the stairs! What a brilliant episode with just about everything in it! Bees, chicks (and chick-midwives), builds, books, and things rescued from the Not Garage now with forever homes - that dark bottle is gorgeous, as is the pot that looks like it's straight off a narrowboat!
Like you I too have a Kindle, and although I love it for just how small it is but how much it holds book-wise, there really is still nothing like holding a real book and turning the pages, so I'm with John on the book hoarding, and that bookcase looks incredible! Much better than boring old banisters.

Children absolutely love bees! I invited friends of mine who are bee keepers for years, to do a demonstration for the Primary section of our school. They will never forget that day and a few said they would like to be bee keepers one day! This is something that must not be lost, so important! You just have to keep bees if you have land! 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Crusoe still captures my heart each and every time we see him, his wee face when looking at the baby chick, from a look of wonder that morphed into that enormous smile, I am sure you have the next David Attenborough in the making there. I woke up to a crap day today then checked youtube and yey The Newbys posted a new video. Cheered me up no end, then went and fully committed to my crap day and all the crap tasks involved arriving home late, tired and deflated and remembered how good I felt after watching The Newbys! Promptly re watched and now feel happy and content anticipating the next video. Thanks guys you truly make an old Aussie girl feel good. John your talking out loud when working, Love It! Tara and John, the name of he bottle with the spout is called a porrao in Portuguese, I think. It's porron in Spanish and porro in Catalan. It's a bit like a bota de vino. It's for drinking wine from.
