  • In the early days of reggae, most keyboard players would play the bubble with their left hand and chop (or bang) on the piano with their right, mostly because there were live horn players. As the live performance of the style developed, budgets tightened and keyboards were developed that could mimic horns (however badly), keyboardists started playing horn lines usually with their right hands. If the keyboard player has to sacrifice either the chop or bubble most likely the bubble will be sacrificed. Keyboard players then started playing the bang in their left hand while the right hand could play horn lines, lead lines, clavinet lines and solos...AND to bubble when not playing such lines. This lesson takes a closer look at 'switching hands.'

cool stuff! my sister's former boyfriend was a drummer from kingston. im a blues guitar player since 84. i jammed with him a few times in 94ish,man i never heard a drummer so good. he had a red kit back then,i owned a black kit from my band,i traded my kit to him. he added both kits together, and went to another level! shad a daughter from him so she goes to kingston twice a year and see's shows all over there.
