My newest version of my book is 644 pages. I know it’s too big. But I want to add so much more. I may have to narrow it down to individuals or families

I would recommend that you break up such a book into multiple volume.s.

Family History Fanatics I will definitely have to do this for future volumes. I’m glad to have this volume, even though it’s so large, allows me to see where the holes in my tree are.

Hi 👋 I have started building a family tree up on Ancestory and Geni! On my Dad’s side I got up to my Great Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother! With all their siblings and their kids and their kids and their kids and their kids and so on! :) with my Father who was 1 of 11! :)
On my Mothers side I got a way back further to 1695! So my 7th Great Grandparents and their siblings and some of their kids and their kids! I’m a bit stuck on that side! It’s more interesting my Mums side! My Mother’s Mum, Mum was a Moss before she got married! And it’s part of the famous Moss Bros clothing store family! Which was founded by my Great Great Great Great Uncle Moses Moss! And my Great Great Great Great Uncle on my Mums Mums side Joesph Sewill was the founder of a famous clock and watch company called Sewill in the 1800s! Called Sewill in Liverpool!
I would love to write a family history book! Maybe like Part 1 book is to my 4th Generations :)

Start writing the story of one person - like I said in the video. A book with as many folks as you identified is overwhelming to create. Start with one and then publish it. Then move on to the next one.

@@FamilyHistoryFanatics Thank you for your advice. I am still doing my family tree this this day! At the moment I am writting a book about Mary Ann Cotton, to be known as Britians First Serial Killer, who has nothing to do with my family tree (I dont think anyway), she has known to killed 3 of her 4 husbands, 12 of her own children (including 1 step son) in the 1800s but was hanged for her crimes in 1873. I am using genealogy in this too of herself, her children and her husbands. Its a very intresting story, you should read it sometime. Also had two lovers too, but they lived as far as i am aware of

Thanks for your insight! I discovered a whole story about my Jewish grandfather's "dead" family. It's such an overwhelming story to tell but starting with one topic makes sense.

I'm glad I could help. I hope you'll subscribe to the sister channel to Family History Fanatics called, Write Your Family History. czcams.com/users/writeyourfamilyhistory
      Plenty more writing tips there.

My first three stories were one ancestor but covering about five generations (their parents and grandparents to their great-grandchildren) I have been working on a more complex one where I am working on one ancestor who died young and the subchapters are each of his kids through those kids grandkids.

That's a real challenge and I know how hard your working on telling those stories. I like that you're breaking things up into stories. Good luck.

I must have missed this one when it first came out. That was the first week of the Covid Lock-Down for us so we were learning our new normal.

Yep... some of the writing videos were buried in the past. But I'm glad with the new channel, it can float back to the top.

My problem is the total opposite.....not enough information to write anything more than a couple of paragraphs 😞

Oh, so not true. I wrote a 90 page book from four documents. Historical context is your friend!!!

Write about family job places, migration routes, important locations to the family, culturally important symbols or artifacts, sayings that are commonly used within your family, etcz

I have found focusing on one nuclear family unit at a time (and no more) is the only way I can maintain my focus. Sometimes even that is a challenge, say, for large families, of families with several successful members which hame many newspaper articles or are elected public officials.

I'm glad that works for you. I have to focus on one person and their family of birth and then marriage from their point of view works best for me. Then I can rework the story for their spouses and children as necessary.
