Unreal Engine is an incredible too to create photorealistic 3D games and movies.
It's been used in big budget TV shows and Hollywood movies, such as the Mandalorian.
In this series, I will show you how to use Unreal Engine to create cinematic movie sequences.
In part 1 I will cover the absolute basics:
- How to download and install Unreal Engine
- How to work with the Unreal Engine interface
- How to create objects and modify them
- How to apply materials to your objects to make them look less plain
- How to trigger game logic and apply physics
- How to modify the sky, atmosphere and lighting to your liking
This video is ideal for absolute beginners and people who've only just tinkered with Unreal Engine.
The following parts will teach you how to create cinematic movie sequences, work with cameras and render your movies into video files.

Please don't abandon this series. You have no idea how many people have videos that showcase the basics of Unreal Engine Filmmaking, but never go into anything advanced. It's the reason why so many Unreal Animated films are basically just "watch guy walk forward, then stand.... then walk.... then look..... oh a monster? Yea, no... he's not actually going to fight it..... just look at it as the camera fades....." We need more info!
I second this, please do more. I actually was able to follow this easily and I remember what I did. Great job
Literally
This is an amazing start, I can not wait to learn more from the rest of the series. It's exactly what I'm looking for!
YOU’RE LEGENDARY!!! This is the best series in the whole CZcams!!! Thank you so much, can’t wait for more of this content ❤

Thank you for sharing, at first look, Unreal engine immediately reminds me of Bryce which in my time was THE thing, I might actually venture into it
Thank you for the comment 🙂 I remember Bryce quite fondly - used it quite a lot back in the days. I'd say UE5 is MUCH deeper than Bryce in terms of what it can do, but it's also a lot more complex. Absolutely worth learning IMO
I started learning Unreal Engine more than a year ago (mainly for creating nice looking 3D animations), but I still find the cinematic sequencer, camera and rendering options so confusing so I'm really interested in this series.
Thank you very much for making this video so clear and structured, but still, I don't understand, could you or someone tell me why do I have "light needs to be rebuilt" and "reflection captures need to be rebuilt" error messages, and why you don't?
Awesome. Been needing this for a while because I keep procrastinating UE5 in favor of Blender, now I dont have an excuse lol
UE5 is pretty epic and quite different from Blender in terms of what you can do. Absolutely worth checking out IMO 🙂
Do you have any places or courses paid or free where there is more in depth longer videos
question, i cant find the gold material, it seems as though most of the materials have not installed, where can i get them from?
Did you select to add the starter content when you created the project? What does it contain in terms of materials?
its ok i found it it was in another area, need to go back and watch the video again, trying to get the sky colour right etc thanks@@SurfacedStudio
I am following your tutorial. The sphere is not rolling after touching the floor. The three objects coming down but the sphere is not rolling as shown by you. Can you please explain.
I got it thanq.
Can you tell me which system are you using for unreal engine 5
This is my laptop - czcams.com/video/d6AR3XnwtIs/video.html
And this is my desktop - czcams.com/video/fRfTqsT9IA0/video.html
You don't need systems that powerful to run UE5 (but it helps)
@@SurfacedStudio thanks
how did you move the camera on the actor when i click my figure it only gives me options to move the fig itself not the view
Does the focus keyboard shortcut work for you?
@@SurfacedStudio I think I figured it out. I assumed you were clicking the actual figure but I noticed you were manipulating the cameras direction through the side bar
Hi. I downloaded Unreal Engine 5. But am stuck at opening it cause it’s keep asking to download Xcode, which I did but haven’t figured out how to make it work. Looked for tutorials on CZcams but can’t seem to make it work. I’m using Mac. Anyone wants to reach out with any suggestions please. I’d love to get started creating. Thanks.
Radeon Pro 575 4 GB - This is the Graphics card I have....will that work?
I love waffles and I love UE5😍😍 (Sorry Unity 😜)
This aged extremely well
Hi, i have a question which is dont see the answer anywhere in the internet, when i use foliage, grass etc my UE becomes slow and stars hanging/ freezes, what is the system requirements needed to run smoothly, i use i5 8th gen, 16gb ram, 1050gtx 4gb-vram,
If anyone could help me to make it run smoothly will be appreciated, thanks in advance
I’d say your bottleneck there is your graphics card. If you check the minimum requirements you can see it recommends an RTX 2000 or higher
Aah, i didn't see that, thank you so much
I did everything right I believe except my objects didn't move, idk why XD
Edit: I went back and figured it out by rewatching lmao
