- The STAR of the show is finally here! In this video I'd like to show you guys what the first 24 hours with my new puppy was like! Tory (Taurus) is a really shy but curious and playful puppy! She was mostly potty trained but had a few accidents inside. She also loves to cuddle and meet new people, hopefully this video helped give y'all an idea of what it's like to have a puppy for the first 24 hours as a new dog owner!

I've had two wonderful Shiba Inus, Miko and Sumo. I hope you can bring your dog to a large dog park, like the one by Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis (more than a square mile, lots of woods, beaches, river and many dogs for socialization). It's really important to give Shibas lots of chances to socialize with other dogs, especially for female Shiba Inus. Shiba Inus may be the best dogs ever.

@@cody.taurus My girl is named Nara! In Japanese I found it online meaning “flower from heaven”. I asked some of my friends who actually know Japanese and they told me it means like “field of trees” and it depends how you use it lol. I usually gotta spell it because people hear “Nora”. She’s almost 10 months already and people keep asking me if she’s gonna get big or they think she’s a German shepherd puppy; I’m sure you’ll get that too if you haven’t yet 😂. Hilarious editing though!!! I literally say all those things as her replies on a day to day because Nara’s so sassy like Tory. 🥰 I wish you could’ve saw her reaction to your video with Tory as I was laughing my ass off

This is an adorable video. As a Shiba Mom, it was the best decision I ever made. We got Luna when she was 8 weeks old and she’ll be 2 years come January 20th. Once Shibas get past the “terror twos”, which somewhere between 18m & 2y, they become an absolute joy. They are loyal to a fault, intelligent beyond words, an extremely great watch dog, non-aggressive, love bug. Word of advice... NEVER underestimate a Shiba especially when they want to escape. (They are notorious escape artists.) Watch the front when coming or going and ALWAYS keep the harness tight as they will back out of them and take off like a lightning bolt. Torry looks adorable. ✌🏻💖🦊

Cody & Taurus A lot of patience. Shiba stubbornness is a bit tricky in that you have to figure out why they don’t want to do what you are asking of them. Example, if they don’t want to sit, maybe they have pent up energy. Watch their eyes as their eyes are very expressive and will give them away. 😂. I watched another of your videos and was very impressed that Taurus knew sit, come, stay. Luna was just about 18 months before she understood those words. Luna NEVER was treat driven, which made training harder. For her, she was all about the praise. Each Shiba is so unique in their personality. Over the years, I’ve had different breeds in my life (Border Collie, Akita, American Cocker Spaniel, and Collie) and, in my opinion, having a Shiba is the closest to having a human child. (Of which, I’ve had). Despite the “ARRGH!” Moments, it really has been a joy. ✌🏻💖🦊 (IG: LunaLV_Shiba)

Getting my first pup which will also be a Shiba. For the few accidents you mentioned, looking back...is there something you could have done to prevent it? like more walks/outdoors time...or should i just expect for it to happen regardless?
Byron Cooke first off congratulations!! 👏🏾👏🏾 the breeder I got her from had her already used to going outside so that made it a breeze but she has still had a few peeing accidents inside so it’s definitely inevitable. What I reccomend is just going to the same spot she first potties outside, that will help ALOT, Taurus will always at least attempt to go pee every time I bring her there. 2 other helpful tips, usually the need to pee like 30 mins after drinking and if you want them to sleep through the night with less accidents stop feeding/giving them water 3hrs before you go to bed that helped ALOT. Lmk if you have any other questions! Good luck & have fun:)

Cub & Cat thank you and welcome aboard!:) I got mine from a breeder in wisoconsin called sunset ridge puppies! Id 100% recommend them they train the dogs really well as they grow up and Tory came practically potty trained

Lol! You're video is great, love the part when you just bring it home and it runs away. I have been wanting to get a Shiba Inu for a while but due to Covid it seems the puppies are all sold out and many breeders are on a 2 year waiting list here now (Ontario Canada), along with a huge price spike (up to CDN$3500 for a puppy). I guess I will have to wait until after Covid is gone, like many other things as well

how is she in the playpin while youre away at work?
I work from home but when I step out she does well. I have a lil camera to watch her when I’m gone, but since their so Independent I haven’t really had a problem being gone up to 3 hours
Im looking for a shiba but i don't want to get from a pet store where did you get your and do you any suggestions, really in need of one.
Don't look at pet stores! look for adoptions/rescue centers first then breeders if you're having no luck!
