Oman Air is a boutique carrier based in Muscat, Oman. This second tier middle eastern airline inherited the region’s upscale approach to commercial aviation but not in a flamboyant way akin to some of its neighbours.
My 6 hours journey from Bangkok to Muscat on Oman Air 787’s first class involved a multi-course dinner with champagne and burgundy inside a fully enclosed suite. The dreamliner is Oman Air’s latest aircraft and it will take over the carrier’s A330 as the only long haul aircraft in the near future.
The hospitality from the crew was the highlight of the flight. I was genuinely impressed by the crew’s unrelenting effort to continue meal service during period of rough air, and the consistently positive attitude in response to every request. The cockpit crew was so kind that I was invited to visit the cockpit after landing and learnt that one of the pilot also owns a luxury chocolate brand in Oman.

I would have personally enjoyed the attention. For those who fly North American first class (actually business class) on smaller single aisle aircraft, this is a rather common occurrence.

Appreciate the content. And the video work on this flight, particular the F&B service and the close-ups of the caviar service and the following food was superb. I've never flown Oman Air but it appears that they have a nicely timed flight from KUL to LHR so will look forward to trying that in the future.
Also, thanks for highlighting that rather unfortunate passenger boarding process. I assume this is not a plane limitation so perhaps Oman can benefit from the feedback and change that boarding process. Definitely not ideal..

Truly a beautiful and informative video. Thank you. Your reference to Oman Air having a deep pocket is so true. It holds the record for paying a record price for a single LHR slot pair. Some years ago (before the pandemic) Oman Air wanted an early morning LHR slot. It bought that one slot from Kenya Airways for no less than US$75 million. (Kenya Airways sold the slot because it needed the cash)

Great video, excellent narrative..your signature. To add a bit further: a 2015 Bordeaux is just a Business Class vintage..quite disappointing. Loved the champagne pooring olympics, hehe. Would have loved to see the full menue card. Personally i just had my first and recent Oman Air experience on a short hop DOH-MCT. I was totally impressed by the warm middle eastern hospitality of the Purser..a special warm and natural way that i experienced rarely and only by middle eastern Pursers...maybe you know what i mean.

I understand complaining about the one door being used for boarding on a plane like a 777 or a380 but I feel like it’s pretty standard on a 787. Maybe that’s just me.
one door is okay, but maybe L2 is better than L1, especially when there's an F-class configuration.

The reason why they let all pax board via L1 because BKK jetbridge cannot dock into 787’s L2 due to the equipment position 😂 every 787 flights out of BKK will be boarded via L1 only.

I’ve always heard that turbulence is less severe at the front of the plane (business/first class passengers), from the looks of it, its just as severe throughout. Myth debunked? 😅
