    I watch your videos on REPEAT, trying to get a "muscle memory" for this but I have no one around serious enough to train with me... I've always loved martial arts but could never actually enroll due to an unfortunate up-bringing in my childhood but I can't say enough how much it would mean for your next American stop to be somewhere near the state of Indiana, I would do anything to train even a single days worth with you and your team. 24 hours straight just to get as much in as possible. I need this discipline, this sense of purpose. There's not much left to hold onto where I'm at now and I need to grow. Please help, I'd pack my shit and move to damn Brunei if I could. Lol

      @YAHNWAESUHNMUN Před 6 lety

      nimmivids I understand the historicity, but you must realize war equals weapons fighting, I was mentioning the hand to hand aspect of the art. Do you know how hard it is to move in that manner? I'm not saying the many techniques are not applicable, but these techniques get thrown out in real life scenarios.
      It's a beautiful art no doubt, I would love to see it in real life hand to hand scenario.

    • @malayfellaz
      @malayfellaz Před 6 lety

      YAHNWAESUHNMUN hand to hand I agree since we silat does not have a live spar. But from my experience the weapon work and it did save my life more then I could count. What traditional martial art need is a better method of training and more live spar if the TMA want to be called effective hand to hand combat.

    • @madjidchouarbi3921
      @madjidchouarbi3921 Před 4 lety

      Charlie Fig Of course you can. Even in a wheel chair you can develop high quality in you arms techniques. If I can advice, you must look for school which enphasis the use of the upper body, like Wing Chun or Arnis de Mano ( Because weapons , especially blades are the best equalizers ). You can check another video fromMaster Mornie about Seated defences. Have a good day. I hope you'll find the most suitable art for your convenience.

      Also in many Militarised Martial Arts forums it is ranked alongside Tsutsumi Hozan ryu Ju Jutsu (Foundation of Australian Special Forces Hand to Hand), Krav Maga (Foundation of Israeli and influence for American Special Forces Hand to Hand) and Systema or Sambo (Foundation of Russian and some Northern European Special Forces).
      If it is considered as one of the foundational elite tactical martial arts one can assume it has merits on the street.
      However keep in mind like any martial art, including those listed above each school is different in quality or aggression or style.

      Prioritise your training.
      When was the last time you or anyone you know was attacked with sword or long staff?
      How many times have you and the people you know ben punched, kicked and grabbed?
      Even knives and guns are comparatively rare in terms of attacks rather than threats with demands - and in that case, hand over your wallet.
