I’m 13 and I collect a lot of old Stuff Nes Snes Gameboy games Nintendo Power Atari 2600 games and Cassettes and VHS tapes. I’m not going to say the rest there’s a lot that I collect.

I'm a huge collector of vhs especially horror. VHS will always be a big part of who I am and I hated seeing it go so I became a collector and I now have a huge collection of not just common vhs but rare vhs horror. I have a room that feels like you just stepped into a time capsule of a mom and pa shop of the 1980's it is perfect.
Its more fun to buy old used blank betamax tapes! And find gong show episodes with original commercials! I just salvaged lots of old MTV. Any VHS not on DVD is already being sold on disc by collectors.
my question is this, i just pulled out a brand new vhs out of an old vcr/dvd/combo tv, and n hindsight i knew i shouldn't of kept playing tapes in that tv because the tracking would go berserk every couple of minutes or so, but when i tried ejecting the tape, part of the magnetic tape got caught and i had to pull on it to pry it out, anyway, only a small part (about an 1inch) of the tape got wrinkled, i managed to roll it back in with no problem, my question is this, is it safe to play that vhs in my other vcr? it's a much better unit that gives me no problems, but it's another one of those combo sets, this time it's only vcr/tv no dvd...is it safe to play it?
JHOT247 Definitely. The issue was almost certainly in the machine not the tape itself. 20-30 year old mass produced machines break down over time. Did you notice the same player chewing up other tapes after this..?

My Father passed in 2015 . I still have a huge collection of VHS tapes of various movies . Would Half Price Books like to trade them for books and or comics ??

i tried to trade at the biggest location in dallas texas at that time they told me they do no trading then i went to another location in plano texas they also told me they do no trading. instead they was willing to offer me 350.00 for my comics which was still a bad deal considering i have over 2000 comics
It is hard to get a trade deal with these places . The used bookstore here DOES trade , but they are currently pretty well stocked for westerns . I had a friend give me two boxes of LL western hardcovers that her late husband had . They would no take them .

People like myself are fixing a break vhs tape itself with Scotch tape it starts playing again with out no problem's everything proven online how to fix a VHS tape

If you're a true cinephile, there's actually a very good reason to collect VHS movies of all types, not just horror and sci fi. Now that everything is done digitally from filming through to exhibition, watching a tape is as close as you can get anymore to watching a movie on film. It's an aesthetic thing. Movies shot and screened on film looked and sounded different and VHS is the only way to even get close to the original theatrical experience nowadays. That matters.
FOR SOME REASON ALL WORKERS AT THAT STORE LOOK LIKE GEEKS, GAMERS OR SOMEONE WHO WORKS IN THE LIBRARY . THEY ARE A SCAM BUSINESS THAT DO ALOT OF SKIMMING OFFERING CHEAP 1 CENT FOR EVERY ITEM WORTH ..50 CENT AND 10CENT FOR EVERY ITEM WORTH 1.00 AND 10.00 FOR EVERY ITEM WORTH 100.00. THIS BUSINESS ALSO SEEM TO HAVE AT ALL STORES HIRE ONLY FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Half Price Books sucks! It should be called 'Greedy Internet Priced Books'. Even Greedwill is doing this. Everyone wants a piece of the internet pie. If you collect rare books or VHS, the only places with good deals anymore are yard sales and auctions.
next time you're buying books, you might want to get some introductory economics texts.
