  • This video was the last recording I made in my old flat. It was a very emotional moment and I am thankful to have music to express and cope with my emotions. I practiced this piece a lot in that room and finally when I had to move out due to personal circumstances I recorded the Grave by Johann Sebastian Bach in the same room without furniture to say goodbye to a chapter in life which brought me something I haven't felt for a long time. In a good and in a bad way...
    Looking forward to rebuilding now and getting everything on track! Stay tuned for more educational videos and lots of music!

    That's a pretty expressive interpretation of Bach's work. I don't know what really happened on you. But I could feel your emotion about your previous experience. Sometimes music resonate with our life, connecting us beyond language. I guess that's the magic of music. I am a violin self-learner, and will keep on searching advices from your video on every stage of violin practice.

      Learning Bach's music helped me so much in my life! It gave me peace and hope in hard situations. Somehow Bach's music gives my emotions places to go. One might say I am not a weepy man, but sometimes I am a weepy violinist :) I am considering making a video about my personal situation. But I am not sure if it would be of any help. Thank you so much for your comment though! In the end this is why I make CZcams videos of my music. To connect with people who are alike and share the love for music.

      It’s incredible to hear from you! Thanks for your reply. I majored in physics. A scientific researcher has to face, conquer and enjoy loneliness during the majority of his life. I was almost drown in the frustration and loneliness. I had committed suicide for many times, struggling between the nature for life and impulse for death. Bach’s work was a good companion in my sleepless nights. The sense and sensibility in his music gradually help me find inner peace. Life is still tough, but I move on with my dream and hope everyday. It’s great to find your video on CZcams. Could we keep in touch?

      @@divagao2264 physics is so interesting. As a physicist I would be trying to prolong life as much as possible to learn more about our mysterious universe. Always get help when you feel bad! "Hope" with "H" like in "Help". Sure we can stay in touch.

      Today is my birthday, no cake, no candles, nobody says happy birthday to me. The worst thing is that my hand got injured. So I could not play music for myself. Everything seems bleak. I watch your performance in this video again. Can’t help tearing! Overwhelmed by sorrow. But I calmed down and got back my inner peace in Bach‘s music. Thanks, Bach! And Thank you for your playing. It matters too much to me. ❤

    I prefer this to other recordings by some of the more famous soloists out there. One of the best interpretations I’ve heard so far. I’m also quite jealous of your technique haha. Sehr Schön

    Beautiful, nice to see you’re back making more videos! Would also love to see your review series again. I was wondering if you would like to take a look at the Warchal Timbres, heard great things of them but haven’t found any good reviews like yours on them.

      @SimonStreuffViolinEducation  Před rokem +1

      Good suggestion! Currently I have the Pirastro Perpetual Cadenza on and will test them for the next months. I haven't decided which set I do next, I keep the Warchal in mind! :)

      @@SimonStreuffViolinEducation Wonderful , I was thinking it would be interesting since Warchal strings seem to be of a nice quality but still very small compared to the big players, and your reviews are simply the most detailed anyone can find in CZcams. Best wishes, always very interested on your next video.

      @SimonStreuffViolinEducation  Před rokem +2

      The fugue is hard. I tried to learn it many times, but it takes so much time to being able to play it from beginning to end. One day I will get there hopefully.

    Technically very good but I think stylistically it sounds a little too Romantic instead of Baroque interpretation

    • @SimonStreuffViolinEducation
      @SimonStreuffViolinEducation  Před rokem

      To each his/her own. I don't enjoy playing the baroque style of the HIP-movement too much. I get ideas from them, but I like Bach Solo more casual. Otherwise I had to switch instruments, which I don't have one. On a modern violin in my opinion vibrato (to a certain extend) is a must have even for Baroque music. Other factors like rubati, dynamics etc. are of course relatively subjective and a matter of taste.Thank you for your comment though.
