I really appreciate the fact that both the manga and anime actually draw Maomao’s face where she was hit instead of making it look like a little small red mark. Like girl got HIT by a grown ass man and her face should show it!
She got freakin' concussed. It wasn't a 'love tap', it wasn't a slap. He turned her brainmatter into a ping-pong ball.
But yeah, you're right. It's annoying when so many anime downplay injuries because it would make the characters look less attractive.

Imagine her father's reaction behind the scenes being a general and one of the palace soldiers gave her beating. His eyes as he carried her past him said it all. He realized his daughter might die if not dead already. You know the guy is furious.
The look in his eyes, he's like 10 seconds from breaking down. I honestly expected him just take off sprinting outta there with her. He loves and cares for her so much he can't stand to see her hurt.
I think he did sprint out carrying her in the manga I can't remember tho
@@ishashifar would make sense if he did- at the very least I figured once he got past everyone that's when he'd start running (keep a calm cool appearence in front of everyone and then when they can't see let it drop and just go)
He did in the manga. It was really short. In the manga he looked anxious, sweaty but here he was more serious. I was upset they didn’t really show it the way it was shown. But when I think about it again… the way they dramatized it was way better in the anime then in the manga. The drops of blood, her father, how everyone bowed. You felt it more.

There was this part where maomao asked “what’s the look in his face” while he looks at her with that concerned broken look 😩
It definitely started off as a fun chase for him but over time he realizes he’s in love with her
poor girl went through so much to save someone important without knowing it's him she's so cool

Yeah, Lakan is actually a very doting father, him getting seperated from them was never his choice so he's trying to make up for lost time any way he possibly can. He deeply loves both her mom and her.

He was that much care and worried about her that he holding her in his arms and walk away while people were watching him..He has so much care and love her what he didn’t realised it yet..

It's wonderful how you can see how he pass from being shocked to be totally focused in maomao injuries
It’s almost scarier and more shocking for him that her eyes were still open but almost lifeless when he turned her over. He was almost trying to bring her back to life calling out to her when she clearly wasn’t there to respond to him. Her closing her eyes as she passed out must have almost been a relief since it meant she was still alive when her eyes were open. In the manga we hear her inner monologue as she passes out and she tells Jinshi to stop talking as she fades.
This is very sad i am cryin rn

This is an amazing show, but the only thing I dislike is the lack of appreciation for Maomao. She solves everyone’s problems every time, and she saves Jinshi’s life by risking her own, but nobody cares. I know that there were social rules people couldn’t desrespect, but it would be nice if Jinshi at least thanked her for saving his life
